Plot Introduction

There is a place where everything is perfect. There is no such thing as pain, suffering, famine, or hardships of any kind. You will no longer feel hunger as your appetite is gone; you'll only eat to experience flavor. Your thirst will never need quenching, but exotic drinks will be offered to you at every turn. You will not feel pain or tiredness, only energy and euphoria. And you will never, EVER be sick or injured again, as damages to the physical body repair themselves in minutes. You are but a mere human, lost in time and space. You may come from the 21st century, or perhaps ancient Egyptian times. No person is safe from the inexplicable force abducting people across human history. You can let yourself get hung up on superfluous questions such as, "Where am I?", "How did I get here?", or "How do I get back home?" OR you can loose yourself in this magical Utopian world!!

Name: Azurael Winchester

Appearance:
Azurael is roughly six feet tall, give or take a few inches, she isn't good with imperial measurements. Her hair is platinum blonde and her eyes are an odd shade of blue, almost like some-one leeched nearly all the colour out of them. She likes to wear male clothing as she views it as far more practical (generally a polar fleece, a turtleneck, and slacks). Her hair is always done in a tight plait, reaching to the small of her back.

Biography: Azurael was taken from the rather modern year of 2015. She lives in a small backwoods town somewhere in an isolated country called New Zealand. She, specifically, was taken just as she was about to undo her seatbelt to get out of her wee Cessna-172. Azurael is a qualified pilot.

Appearance‣ A short boy with wiry, whip-like muscles and a sharp grin, he has a boxer's physique. A few of his dreads have been bleached, and he has light golden eyes to complement them.

Biography‣ Clem was born on March 23, 1979 in Cincinnati, Ohio. A few months prior to his birth, his mother, Judy Kozlowski-Reid, was forced to move in with her parents after being evicted from her apartment in Pittsburgh. She'd also had another child with Clem's father; Tabitha Reid, born in 1975.

❮1979 - 1986❯
Clem was considered a problem child who talked too loud and thought too little. His grandparents insisted on sending him and Tabby to a private school when they came of age, and while his sister did very well in school, Clem did not. 

Between his sister's apparent dislike of him, his mother's lack of time, and his problems understanding basic materials, Clem resorted to playing practical jokes to stave off boredom (and hurt feelings). From kindergarten to third grade, his try-hard approach to socializing didn't win him any friends during recess.

❮1986 - 1991❯
Judy graduates college and ushers her tiny family away from their overbearing, hypocritical grandparents, sparing Clem from his private school angst. They move into what Clem believes to be "half a house" in the downtown neighborhood and Clem's room is on the second floor, where his window opens up onto the roof. It becomes his favorite spot.

When they move, Judy starts working long hours to support them and pay back her parents what she owes them. Clem and Tabby get home around three-thirty-ish, eat whatever their mother left for them before she gets back (usually around eight). By the time she gets home, Clem's already supposed to be asleep, but Tabby's lead on him is weak and waits anyway. Judy's usually too tired to do much, but makes him go to bed at nine.

Public education is much kinder to him. The classrooms are over-populated and everyone's so talkative that he blends in seamlessly, and during the fourth grade he makes quite a few friends. The best part is that he never has to see Tabby during the day--there's way too many kids. 

His group of friends (they call themselves the "Ocecats" and join bloodied hands while they're hanging out at Joey's after school, claim they're all brothers now, and Clem's happy because the seven of them are so much better than Tabitha would ever be) become his only focus during school days, seeing as how he doesn't understand anything his teachers give him anyway.

During the fifth grade, they fight kids over a few tables in the cafeteria and suddenly they have a territory, and Clem feels like he's apart of something important. In the sixth grade, the majority of their clique has moved to the middle school and they start arguing over their collective moniker like it's a band name--first Ocecats, but then someone says it sounds kiddish, and then it's Ocelots, then that'd be submitting to a rival if they were called "Snakes" or something so they change it to Bobcats, then Cougars, then Kit-Kats. Finally, McNeil, who's in the seventh grade and is the oldest, tells them they're all being stupid.

Sometimes, Clem stays over at his friends' houses for days, not wanting to go home where his family ignores him unless he messes something up. When he's staying with Nikki or Shiloh, someone's always in the house because they have too many siblings to count. And when he's at Morty's, the shorter boy (the only one in the gang to be so who's not a girl) talks to him all night and doesn't roll his eyes when he says something stupid.

Their mother dies in a car accident when he's twelve. It happens so quickly, all Clem has time to think about is how her funeral costs more money than her house did, and how stiff and tired-looking (he can see the resemblance to her daughter, this way) his grandma is when she tells them they'll be moving back in.

His sister graduates her sophomore year with honors but she cries all night. It's the last night he sees her, either; he runs away the next morning. He doesn't want to leave his friends behind for his holier-than-thou, racist relatives. 

For the next four years, Clem's been rotating between different friends' houses. He stays at Morty's the most, because Morty's parents are the only ones who know the details of his situation, and agreed to let him stay as long as he keeps going to school (and stays off the streets).

Appearance: 

Biography: Born 2063, Mira always was an active child. Sporty and athletic, people always said her free-running, mountain climbing and urban exploration would get her hurt one day. so it's perhaps quite ironic that she ended up losing a leg asleep in bed when a runaway truck brought her house down.

She was fitted out with the best prosthetic her insurance could get, but it wasn't quite the same. It needed so much tweaking every day to match her regular leg and keep balance it was useless for sports.

But now she's in this miracle city, fresh and whole and it can never happen again. She can run and climb to her heart's delight... but then there's that invisible wall. Mira has spent a lifetime finding out what's on the other side of mountains, she's determined to find a way over this one.

Name: Sorano Moriya
Age: 27
Level: 3

Appearance: Tall for his ethnicity, Sorano stands at 6’3 (1.91m) and has a fairly muscular build that puts him at 189lb. (86kg). His hair would probably reach his shoulder blades if it weren’t for the fact that he keeps it tied up in a ponytail. Generally has some stubble on the chin.

Biography: Born in 1977 in Japan, Sorano grew up below the poverty line. His parents were rarely around to watch him, even from a young age, and thus it was rare that he would spend more than a few hours at home alone each day. He quickly found some nice hangout spots to simply relax at each day, and endeared himself to those without children. He was curious, but polite and always eager to listen whenever someone had something to tell him. Granted he wasn’t the smartest, so he didn’t always understand what the adults went off about, but he paid attention. 

Things didn’t really change too much for him as he grew older in this small town. While he remained only average in terms of academics, genetics seemed to have given him a boon in terms of physique. Through puberty he quickly grew taller and stronger than most of those his age and even a good deal of the adults. His personality didn’t really change all that much though and he began to help out and pay back those who had kept him company when he was younger and his parents weren’t home. 

After he finished with high school, rather than pursue any sort of higher education immediately, Sorano enlisted in the JSDF. When he left, he found training and eventually work as an auto mechanic, given it was sort of his passion and he would work on his own car and bike whenever he could. Unfortunately, he wound up in an accident while out on a ride with his bike. Whoever was to blame, the result was that Sorano was in a coma indefinitely with prospects of recovery iffy at best. Taken from Japan in the early 2000’s, Sorano has adjusted to this strange new world admirably well. Considering his situation before this, it’s an improvement anyways.

Name: Varian Hunter

Age: 23

Level: 3

Appearance: Varian has spiky white hair and blue eyes. For an odd reason (That will not be spoken of.) white hair is his natural hair color. He also has tattoos on his chest and arm.
 
Biography: Varian was born in 2075. almost at the end of the 21st century. He lived in a city called Foxhound with his parents until the age 19, he moved out and went to LA for college. His uncle, Ray let him stay at his house for the time being, he loved to pull pranks and he parkoured around buildings alot. At age, 21 he was caught by the cops, spray painting on a wall illegally, his uncle got tired of having to bail him out, so he let Varian out for the last time. Varian was a pretty intelligent kid, he knew how to hack because he spent time in a computer class room, he could've even made a video game if he wanted. One day, his uncle got hit by a car. His uncle was unable to be saved, so Varian spent the last time he ever would with his uncle. After the funeral, Varian moved back to Foxhound City. To see his parents again.

Quests

Quests are how you advance and can be done solo or as a group. They take place in separate threads from the main one. A condensed summary of available quests are listed in the IC opening post. The condensed summary of each quest has the following parts:

Taking on a quest for the first time gains you extra levels. You may only redo a quest if someone in your group is completing the quest for the first time. Repeating a quest still results in level gain, just not as much. 

To start a quest, gather up your party and contact me. I will then create a new thread where the quest will take place.

Q&A

Feel free to ask questions about this RP in a reply to this OOC thread. I'll then add your question and the answer to this post.

Q: Is this based off an MMORPG?
A: No, this is not based off any existing MMORPG that I know of. Though, there will be a very simple leveling system and you will gain items and abilities as you adventure. But there will not be a VS mode; the focus is on writing collaborative stories. 

Q: So my character can be from any time in history?
A: Absolutely, so long as that point in history is from a factual point in human history. You can even go slightly into the future, to a time with technology that we KNOW will exist. No magical and/or sci-fi worlds; there will be plenty of that in the RP. 

Q: So, do I just post my character in the CHAR tab now?
A: Yes, the Character tab, in this particular RP, is where you will submit your character when you think it is ready for approval. If approved, your character will be copy and pasted to the Approved Characters section. 

Q: Can I have more than one character?
A: Sorry to say, but no. Co-op writing will be highly beneficial in this RP. Having multiple characters would grant a person with an unfair advantage.

Q: Hey, Balthazar, are you going to create a character?
A: Not really, I will control NPC type characters here and there, but never a character that progresses along with everyone else. That wouldn't be fair. 

Q: Can I control NPCs?
A: Absolutely! The setting for the beginning of this RP is in the middle of a city. In fact, you are encouraged to create and control NPCs. That will help breath life into the city.  

Q: Really? No pain? No damage? Not even if I, say... fall off a roof?
A: Actually, you do feel pain and take damage. It's just that most injuries heal within minutes, hours if we're talking major dismemberment. 

Q:What are levels used for?
A:This will become more apparent as this RP moves forward. But in short, it's your character's level of experience. If you want to see life beyond Paradise City and get to the bottom of this sci-fi adventure mystery, you'll need to raise your level.
