New Story Universe Idea!!

I've been tossing around the idea of starting up a new RP. Let me know what you think.

The setting is most important, as it kind of intrinsically creates the plot. Our story here would take place within a fictional world known for now as, "World ABC". This world is divided into four major continents. On one continent, science and technology reign supreme, making for a sci-fi utopia. On another continent, nature and magic are law, complete with creatures of legend. On the third continent, the two opposing forces live in relative harmony with one another.

And finally, the fourth continent. This continent is abundant with the natural recourse known currently as, "power crystals". These power crystals make excellent fuel when broken down inside technology and have magic enhancing properties as well. While the recourse is renewable, it only grows here on this continent, and only a limited amount replenishes each year. With the populations of each of the three other continents rising each year, there is starting to be speculations on the future of this neutral land.

I want to create a large group RP that allows for people to create there own subplots within this world. First, you will choose a homeland for your character. There you can join with other writers to create stories together, or write solo adventures. When collaborating, you will want to tag all others involved at the beginning of your post. I would ask everyone to do any plot planning privately through PMs; this way you can cut back on clutter in the OOC section and have an element of mystery for anyone not directly involved with the story you are creating. Once everyone agrees on the general direction of your story, you will title your story and put it at the header of each of your posts. Also, each continent will be broken down into sub-areas. Underneath the story title, you should put the location that it is taking place. This way, different story-lines can overlap or merge when characters are in the same location.

You can be one of the indigenous people of the neutral land, mostly peace loving tribesmen that are openly sharing their bountiful "power crystals". These people are so in tune with the crystals that as long as they are close to one they possess super human speed, strength, and healing. Being that these crystals grow out the sides of mountains, inside caves, and basically anywhere that rock is exposed, staying close to a power crystal isn't that difficult. Plus everyone wears jewelry with this crystals embedded.

You can be one of the people from the land of technology. Business and government are one and the same as they watch over the entire land with precision. Poverty and crime are things long forgotten. Instead, there is the ruling class, the working class, and the commoners. There is hardly a difference between working folk and non-working folk as far as standard of living, as the jobs available are plentiful and ultimately frivolous. It is practically impossible to join the ruling class as they control all markets and have been rumored to have the means to stop the aging process. There is an underground movement of commoners that wishes to overturn this system, but they do not hold the support of the masses.

You can hail from the continent of magic if you prefer the legends of old. Here, old style kingdoms divide up the land, and different humanoid like creatures such as elves and hobbits are playable characters as well. Occasionally, lands will war over territory or pride but everyone is united in their unease toward the people that use the shiny machines. There is rumor that one kingdom of humans desire to ally with the technological civilization.

You may also choose to live in the hybrid continent. Technology here is akin to modern day science, and there are about five different nations that run much like today's governments. The biggest comparison that you can make about this land is to the Marvel Universe, complete with super humans and modern witches but no extraterrestrials. Just like in the comics, there is a struggle between those with and without super powers, as well as organized crime and conspiracies.

I would also like to add a few unique game elements to this RP to regulate it's pace. One month in the real world will equal one year in the RP. Past that, I would like to create an environment where everyone can move at their own pace without falling behind. To do this, underneath the title and location of your story, you will post the pace that everyone in your story has agreed upon as well as how long your story is expected to stretch out (anywhere from a couple hours to a whole year). This will help others in deciding if they wish to join your story or have their story cross paths with yours. If you expect to be unable to keep up with the pace of your story, you will want to tell all others involved through the PMs, OOC, or in a blurb at the bottom of your last post.

The floor and wall of the hallway felt cold as ice as Ricardo sat leaning back. He breathed heavily as he watched his wounds slowly close right before his eyes. By this point, he had almost forgotten that there were two people right behind him. It wasn't until he heard the sizzling of someone else's sweat and blood that was he reminded. The young blonde headed boy was emerging from the thick of the barbed wire, with the little girl still firmly on his back. Ricardo couldn't help but feel a little ashamed for not doing the same thing for her, but to be honest, he thought she would have wanted to turn back long before the hallway became too gruesome.

Still, Ricardo felt compelled to help, even if it was just in the slightest. He scrambled to the edge of the barbed wire and began helping the boy pull the barbed wire apart. He would still be torn to shreds on the bottom side, but at least the girl could be spared of the last few grueling feet. When the two were finally out, the boy collapsed on the floor. Ricardo was well aware of what he was feeling at the moment: relief and accomplishment.

Ricardo let the two recover for a moment, both physically and mentally before trying to talk to them. Unfortunately, he couldn't think of anything too worth while to say, but none the less, he tried. "Rest easy you two. You're safe now." What a cheesy thing to say, but he hoped that his words were at least slightly comforting.

@Airalin If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. The rest of us are very near to completing the quest and beginning chapter 2. I suggest that you make your next post a nice little game of catch up.

Perhaps your character has little trouble getting through the maze and sees the rest of us in the hallway of pain. Or you can take things slow and grind for experience points at two points per post while we all return to one experience point per post after getting out of the quest. The ball is in your court. I hope to see a post from you soon. :)

Strange World

Ricardo had made it over halfway through the hallway. The coals were intensely hot and he had to practically pull strands of barbed wire aside to move forward. Despite all this, he felt confident. The end was in sight, and all injuries would heal moments after getting out of the hallway. Hell, every few steps, the cuts from moments before would close up in front of his eyes, only to be replaced by more and deeper cuts of course.

He then heard the sizzling of skin behind him. Looking back, he noticed the new boy carrying the little girl upon his back. The gesture was sweat, but he wondered what the boy would do once he got to the thickest part of the barbed wire up ahead. The wires there were so dense and random, even a tiny acrobat could not make it through unharmed, never the less, two people with one on the other's back.

Bringing his attention back to his own struggles, Ricardo continued pressing forward. Soon he found himself suspended mid air as he literally crawled through the barbed wire. On one hand, he was getting ripped to shreds from all sides. On the other, he no longer had to walk on the coals below. This he was very thankful for considering the floor below was simply fire at this point, cooking his body like a suspended pig. All he needed was an apple in his mouth.

A combination of blood, sweat, and tears sizzled as they dripped off the wire and onto the fire below, but he could not stop. His will had become to strong, and the end was now mere feet away.
