Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

With no words after the Phanpy left, Liz called back Arachne. Now to make it to town, she struck out on her way and after a little bit she reached Sunsay. The city was bigger than Zueric Town and she saw people bustling about their day. Her weary feet carried her on to the Pokemon center looking to get her Pokemon checked u, a nice hot meal, and some shut eye. She whipped out her Pokedex as the nurse took her Pokemon and sent a message to Rin.

Made it to Sunsay, did I beat you here?? How close are you??
I will be checking out the gym, see you soon!!
She sent the message and closed her eyes and drifted off.

As Liz slept, a buzz was circling around the Pokemon center. It was a trainer that just got back from adventuring. Apparently he had stumbled on a fairly rare Pokemon nearby and was bragging all about it. Chances were, he'd still be down there by the time she woke up. He sure loved to talk.

But that wasn't all that happened while Liz was sleeping. She also missed a call from Professor Eugene. He left a message for her as well, "Hey there. I was just returning your call. Please, give me a video call back as soon as you can. I'd love to see this rock you've found."

"I want you to go startle that Smeargle over there with the light from your Synthesis. We don't exactly have any stellar moves just yet, but some recovery never hurts, right?" Lazily, he nodded and trotted over to the other hill. Nudging the other pokémon gently, Anusobeket took it upon herself to bellow a roar to assist the surprise. Osajyin simply yawned before shimmering with the bright light of Synthesis. "Yeah! Kick his butt, Osaja! Inspire that starving artist!"

A gentle nudge and a bellowing roar, the combination was just enough to pull Smeargles attention away from the scene before him. When turned around he was face to face with beautiful glowing Pokemon. A giant smile crossed over his face as he took in the glow. Then he flicked his tail above his head, which somehow produced the same dazzling light, to cover his body. His version wasn't nearly as refined, but for a first attempt, it was still impressive.

Result: Chikorita Shows Off

The Phanpy woke up before Arachne could land a hit on the little pokemon. But it's hit was only a glancing blow as it flailed around. Arachne soon recovered and was ready to do battle again.

"Alright we got this, pull it together, try using absorb one more time!! We won't lose to this pokemon!!" Arachne came charging again at the Phanpy, glowing green.

Spinarak readied herself for another attack, but this time, she wouldn't get the slightest bit of surprise on her opponent. Phanpy immediately rolled up and charged forward with Rollout. It's amazing how fast the little blue Pokemon flew at the poor Spinarak. She didn't even have a chance.

Result: Phanpy Overpowers Arachne

How exactly does this work for healing moves? I was going to have him sketch Osajyin's Synthesis.

I suppose... healing moves can add power back to your Pokemon instead of taking power away from the opponent. But that's a pretty cheap tactic to making the Smeargle learn a heal move. Then you can can simply switch all your pokemon into play getting them experience, because you know that he can't hurt you.

To prevent that break in the system, I'm going to say that draining and healing moves raise the Power level of the user while also lowering the Power level of the target. Half and Half.

Oh! Before I post, just to make sure: Switch Training is still a thing is this RP, yes? Like how it is in the games, where you can send out one weaker pokémon first, and then switch it the next turn, but still gain battle experience? I ask this because I was actually hoping to give Smeargle a non-offensive move for its first sketch, which I suppose prompts my second question: will Smeargle sketch a non-offensive move in combat? I assumed so, because it'd be his only option in a fight at this point, but I just want to be sure before I post.

Yes, he would sketch the non-combative move. But remember, in RP battles, all moves are created equally: stat moves, damaging moves, all of that. In any scenario, dice will be rolled, and someone's Power is bound to drop.

So lets say you had a Magikarp that used splash, then Smeargle used Sketch. If the Smeargle rolls a higher number, your Magikarp will be the one to loose Power. Power isn't just health, it is more accurately described as the ability and willingness to fight. So in this example, where the opponent uses splash, your Power can still drop. (Justification: Magikarp is thrown off guard by seeing a Smeargle flop around. Creeped out by this sight, he is unsure of whether or not to continue. Magikarp looses 7 Power.)
Liz created the last hill before town, where she came across a phanpy. The little thing was asleep, it was a good opportunity to catch it. She tried to release Arachne as quietly as possible.

"Arachne, use absorb, let's take it by surprise!!" Archne came prepared for battle.

Liz was trying her best to be careful and quiet, but Phanpy's big ears clearly picked up on the sound of a Pokeball popping open. As he opened his eyes, he was surprised to see a spider beginning to glow with a green aura. Instinctively Phanpy didn't know what else to do than start Flailing around, completely unaware of his own strength.

Result: Phanpy's Instincts Kick In

Hey, does it being asleep factor into it being easier to catch, I am just asking cuz it does affect what I will do

@balthazar007

No. It'll have full power upon entering the PokeBall still. Consider like the PokeBall wakes it up. Now how would you feel if you wake up inside a place you're unfamiliar with. You might freak out and try to escape.

But I can't guarantee anything. It's all a roll of the dice. I decide things AFTER rolling the dice.
"Hey professor, sorry to bother you, but I found a weird illuminating rock, I was wondering if you could tell me what it is. Please call me when you wake up, I should be at the Sunsay pokemon center in a little bit.
Thank you."
She hung up and put the dex back, she looked up and began walking again, she was heavily and just wanted to reach town.

As Liz made her way over the top of another hill, a small blue boulder with red dots came into view. What a strange looking rock.

The "rock" then started moving. No, it was a Pokemon. As her path brought her closer, it was revealed to be a Phanpy. The little guy was still asleep. It sure would be a shame to wake it up from such a cute slumber, but when would Liz run into one of these again? She had a decision to make.

@balthazar007

See now your just being mean!! I am at a Xmas party, if I find time to post I will if not some time around 1130 I will have a post

I'm a little confused. Do you want one more random encounter while you're in the hills? Is that why you haven't just went into town yet? Or do you think you have to wait for something?
As Liz's tired feet carried her onward the sun broke over the horizon. As the light began to wake the world around here she saw an other light emitting a little ways off. Curious she trudged her way to the light source and found a stone emitting the light, she had not seen anything like it before. She pulled out her Pokedex and dialed in the professors number waiting for him to pick up, she hoped he was awake this early in the morning.

Professor Eugene was still asleep when his Pokedex began to ring. It went to voice mail, "This Professor Eugene. I appologize for missing your call. If this is an emergency, please dial 'star 123'. That will auto call the nearest Police Station. If this is not an emergency, please leave a message, and I will get back to you as soon as possible." A definitive *beep* signaled the end of the message.
