Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Monica White

...

Monica have him a quick nod, and began walking towards the storage area to grab a bag of saline. John was a patient that had been suffering dehydration after getting lost in the woods. The doctors said he just needed some rest and water, and he'd be good to go. Monica entered the storage room, and grabbed a bag of the salt infused water.

John was a frail old man who wore very simple clothing and a short, but full, white beard. When Monica entered his room, his eyes were closed and he was terribly still. At first glance, one would think he was dead. But looking more carefully, she could see the subtle rise and fall of his chest as he breathed. Quietly, Monica went about her business, changing his bag.

As she finished, as her hands lowered from the new IV, John's eyes opened. "Thank you child." Something was off about the way he said even those few words. His voice didn't sound tired at all. In fact, if she wasn't looking at the old man, he could have easily passed for thirty years younger. "Can I ask you a question? ... What do you like most about your job?"

If your three hours behind on the west coast, it would be 10am not 9am, right? Also, you could join in an hour late at 2pm (11am your time). That first hour is just for helping others with their character sheets and answering questions and stuff. You and I havee been doing that steadily through PMs already. So you wouldn't be missing anything.
My schedule this week is pretty full, but I can do Friday evening any time. Or Sunday from 1pm to 3pm.

Which would you all prefer?

This is only referring to our discord meet-up. I'll be online a little each day.
Do you want us to put our character sheets here or PM them to you to adress things that shouldn't be in the OOC?

PM. Thanks for asking.
Would you allow Chaos as a starting form?

Yes, but chaos magic won't be the most efficient way to do anything. In fact it is the least efficient way to do anything, (most costly to learn and highest Mana to cast). BUT chaos magic can do anything.

In other words, you will be a "Jack of All Trades" but a "King" of none.

So the way this world works is that there are about five great land masses or continents. Each continent is ruled by a militaristic regime. About 30 percent of each continent is comprised of urban, suburban, and rural areas that are well protected behind walls and defence systems. The other 70 percent of the world's land mass is an open battlefield.

There are some rouge civilizations that live out in the 70 percent war zone, but they are small and well hidden and/or well defended.

The only type of weapon that is forbidden are nuclear weapons, but everyone has them in abundance. Basically, mutually assured destruction is the main motivating factor in not using nukes. Poison gasses aren't a huge threat, as almost any helmet will have top notch filtration and self sufficient air supply. Also, since they've been at war for so long, their bodies have grown resistant to poison and almost any kind of sickness.

They eat like we do. They raise farm animals that are basically like our own here on Earth, but they are generally larger, through genetic engineering. Same goes for fruits and vegetables. They might not have as much area to farm, but they have found ways to maximize output. Also, the world's population is only 1 billion people, because war keeps the population count down.

There aren't any rules against harming civilians, but it is impractical. Even the most important civilian, if held hostage would be left behind by their government. Everyone on this planet knows that you could die at any time, so they don't fret if even their warlord/president is killed. They just raise the next in line to take the spot. Also, the cities and protected areas are so well protected, it's impractical to attack a city (though there are no officially off limits zones).

The main way war is fought is by attacking supply routes of your enemy. Each continent has to transport raw materials from one protected zone to the other. Like transporting food or metal ores from well protected rural areas and mines to the cities. That is when you are most vulnerable. So basically, all nations have a half of their armies on home soil, protecting their shipments. And half of their army is out attacking their enemies' shipments. Then or course, there are the battles fought to keep your enemy off your continent in the first place.

Alliances have been made in the past, but currently, it is every continent for itself.

Any more questions? I like answering them.

"Magic is Real!!!"

Welcome to the "Magic is Real!!!" roleplay, where the story starts quite normal and grows deeper as you go. All new characters will start off as regular people here on modern day Earth. The hands of fate will then guide your character into the world of magic. What your character does from there is entirely up to you. Will you be a hero? Will you use your newfound power for selfish gain? It is all in your hands. There is only one rule all sorcerers must follow. The world at large shall never learn of magic.

To start, you will need to create a normal human character, a character with no background in real magic. To create your character, simply follow the guideline laid out in the Characters section.

You will then select one of five basic forms of magic: Lightning, Earth, Wind, Fire, or Water. All five forms of magic are capable of combat, but each one also has its own specialty. Follow your gut instinct, your magic's true nature will reveal itself in time.

After your character becomes proficient in their initial school of magic, they can then explore the wonders of this world. They will find magic around every turn, and grow stronger along the way. Your characters are free to roam on their own or come into contact with others. It is all up to you.

As game master, I will be there to facilitate your quest, for whatever you may be searching. Game mechanics will be explained through PRIVATE MESSAGES along the way, but feel free to ask questions at any time. I am willing to answer any non-spoiler questions.

The whole point of the "learn-as-you-go" model is to make the RP less daunting in the beginning. Once we have an established core of players, those players can then in-turn, take on apprentices. In other words, if I am too busy to accept new players, I may let new players into the game if one of my established players is willing to teach them.

Below is a complete look at all the different styles of magic that will be available for your character to learn.
If you really NEED to know more, ask me through private messages. Though I would prefer you learn as you go.
