Bio
I am a Roleplayer with an interest in science fiction and fantasy, with a preference for Casual. I have been roleplaying for several years, and have even taken a stab at running a few RPs.
Outside the Guild, I am an Australian science student, gamer, musician and roleplayer (that's right, IRL too).
Divinus: The God Roleplay, Mk III We are new-born gods, summoned into an empty World by the powerful and enigmatic Architect. Our purpose is to create and fill the world of Galbar and the godly Spheres surrounding it, although with such a diverse pantheon there is all manner of disagreement over what to fill the world with. I co-GM this roleplay. I also play as Ashalla, the Goddess of the Ocean.
Divinus: The Deity Roleplay Mk2 We are new-born gods, summoned into an empty World to create a Universe where the last one was destroyed. Some wish to build it up, others wish to tear it down, and there is great conflict over what kind of Universe to create and what to put in it. I play as Teknall, the God of Crafting. He's a nice guy. I was also promoted to co-GM about half way through.
The Horde of Evil Under the command of a Dungeon Keeper, a horde of powerful beasts, monsters, warriors and demons sweep out to pillage the world beyond and battle against powerful foes. But a horde of the vilest beings in the land is far from cooperative... I played Torrens Igneus, a cunning fire demon and veteran servant of Dungeon Keepers throughout the ages.
Dungeon Keepers In this iteration, the Keepers arrive on a new world, in the land of Cyprus. This land is small and rich with resources, ripe for conquest. Yet it is ruled by a powerful and strangely unified nation of humans, with a King who has more power than he should... I GM'd this one. I controlled King Reginaldus, the sorcerer king with the power to read and manipulate people's minds while they slept. I've played in numerous past iterations before, although not all were on the Guild.
Sanctuary In a land where magical crystals power modern technologies, a terrible Cataclysm strikes the capital city. Spirits good and bad are unleashed upon the populace, and the military seal the entire city away behind an impenetrable wall. The spirits fuse with many people, granting them powers but also driving many to evil and violence. The players must try and survive in this post apocalyptic cityscape, and maybe even find a way to escape. I played as Zachary Mason, a kind-hearted, prodigious engineer, who is possessed by Kaa'is. He gains powers to control metal and read machines, but Kaa'is also drives him to become physiologically addicted to murder, an addiction he tries to suppress.
BattleCorp: Combatant Creator Tabletop section. The gist is that you get to invent your own special moves when you level up, tailored to your hero. I played David Pierce, a serious and dark gunslinger.
I approve of the Collabs/Etherpad/Guildpad/Collabinator 6000 tab being a system similar to PMs, as proposed by Captain Jordan.
I don't have much experience with dice systems, so I can't provide much feedback on that I'm afraid. Inserting the rolls below a post seems okay. Hey, how about you do the same thing for rolls as you have currently for the likes?
(although the pop-in of the buttons is mildly annoying - make those permanently visible? - and as someone pointed out, I agree the likes and whatnot would look better on the same line as the reply button, possibly just as a number next to the perma-visible buttons so they'd not break the layout of posts as much).
I prefer the pop-in buttons for the ratings. They would be a bit garish against the simple grey theme of the Guild if they were permanently visible. But I do agree that the count of ratings on a post should be moved into a more discrete corner. It is probably the way it is because that was the easiest way to format it, but I say it should be changed soon.
I don't know if this is a bug, or if this is just my bad formatting. But every so often, my link to peoples character sheets in my roleplays goes screwy and just takes me to the IC, rather the the players character. I don't mind, but formatting it is a long, tiring job. What I do is how I have always done it, and I've never had issues before.
Basically, direct (Or permalink or whatever it is by the view raw button) link to the character sheet, and then a url format.
Has something changed since the many new updates?
Follow the yellow arrow above to the chain links icon in the top right hand corner of the post. This is the permalink to that post. Right click, copy link address, and paste wherever you need it. If it is still going wrong after that, then you may indeed have encountered a bug, but the permalink should be pretty robust. (the permalink will be in this format: www.roleplayerguild.com/posts/1234567890)
This is what I have done, and have done since joining the site. I've never had any issues with it before, it just seems since the updates to go wrong after a while.
If that is the case, then all I can do now is point to Mahz and hope he can find a fix (and if the permalink system has gone wonky then he'll definitely want to look into that).
----------------
From what Mahz has said about the rating system:
*snip*
Just give it a week.
it appears to me that he wants to give some time for opinions to settle before making any decisions, rather than responding to any knee-jerk reactions. If it turns out dreadful after some time, he'll probably figure something else out.

There needs to be a thumbs down button on the post rate!
Downvote is too easily abused, especially by trollers, flamers, and the aforementioned vengeful wronged middle schooler.
@Captain Jordan, I see the sense in what you say, and I would agree that in a writing community it is better to write a proper response than simply click a button. To be honest, I'm pretty ambivalent about a post rating system. Like you, I'm just giving my two cents.
I was just about to go and write out the introduction that I had planned for the Ashlanders, when I remembered that Trapezoid was on hiatus. Unfortunate since my introduction was going to involve some interaction with the ice witches. Is somebody else currently taking control of that nation?
I will be taking charge of the ice witches when they are needed for anything.
I think the three distinct ratings are useful. While a single rating is fine for individual posts, it does not help much in determining what kind of poster the user is as a whole, as it is here:
If there was only one rating, we would not be able to distinguish between users who write lots of helpful posts to users who write lots of funny posts, or if they do a mix of both. These three ratings, when viewed from the user profile, provide a suitably diverse rating of the user, and does not blur the reasons they were up-rated (quality, helpfulness and humour being the three main categories here).
@Cale Tucker, your post is good. In terms for buildings and upgrades to your Avatar, as Cyclone said, there is no specific rule. Generally they would take just one post to do, unless they are particularly large, in which case the project may span over several of your posts (but you probably won't be doing anything like that this soon).
The reason we have the rule for the minions and the Constructs is so that you can't simply churn out dozens of different and increasingly powerful minions, and so any end-game type minions or Constructs actually cost you to create. On the other hand, your Dungeon is limited by your ability to build and defend it, and your Avatar is limited directly by your power.
In respect to your Dungeon plans, those are good too. It's nice to see you putting some consideration into it. Of course, with swarms of spiders, your main concern will be food, not infrastructure, but I'm sure you've got that covered.
@Cale Tucker, a Spider Queen, good idea. I don't think we've had one of those that before, but it fits in perfectly. That paragraph will need streamlining before going into the Compendium, but I'm happy with your Keeper. You may as well get started. Your first post(s) would involve setting up your Dungeon and creating your Spiderettes (the rules are that it takes 3 posts to invent your first minion).
I didn't explicity say the town was Amplis, but it certainly could be. I was thinking it would just be a random hamlet on the fringes of the kingdom, but I'll let it be your choice.
The way you said it made it sound like it was in the capital.
I at first thought it was in some hamlet. The capital is a bit close, and an earthquake and fissure would do more damage. If it isn't in the capital or nearby, it would take some time for news to reach him. He might get the news by horse-riding express messenger before night falls again.
Is this still available to join? Been reading the whole OP, and I am loving it.
Yes, it is still open. As you can tell, we aren't very far in yet. Have you devised an idea yet for a character?
