Bethany was glad to relax after her midterms. Granted, most of that relaxation was done in the infirmary with second-degree burns, but the nurse had given her permission to go up to the mortal realm, and the demoness was happy to take full advantage. As the portal opened, she thought about how best to create havoc. Her powers were useful, but not very flexible. Conjuring Hellwater wasn't easy- she'd need a rainstorm or more permanent source of water to reach her full potential. Not for the first time, Bethany reminded herself to sign up for the Evil Magic elective and get a broader power base.

She headed into the portal, looking around at the other students who joined her. One in particular caught her eye- a spirit in the form of a little girl. Hime-sama didn't look like evil incarnate, but Bethany had several classes with her and knew that behind the cute exterior lurked a creative deviousness. Just the thing Bethany looked for in a teammate.

"Good to see you, Hime. Shall we work together? I'm certain we can cause more mayhem as a pair than we could apart."

Name: Bethany Blackspawn

Titles: The Serpent's Daughter, The Hellwhelp

Species: Demon

Appearance: Bethany has deep green eyes and red hair. She stands five-foot-five and weighs in at 150 pounds. She has red horns, black bat wings, and a black tail with a cute, heart-shaped tip.

Powers: Hellwater- Bethany can control, create and curse water. This cursed water looks like an oil slick, and burns both body and soul like sulfuric acid.

True Form: Bethany can turn herself into a fifty-foot venomous snake, but only has the power to hold this form for a couple of minutes.

Self-Resurrection: If killed, Bethany will simply be reborn in her father's domain, the icy waters of the Seas of Envy. That said, it's a really painful couple of days, so she prefers to survive.

Skills: Deceit, manipulation.

Three days. Three long, miserable days scaling the volcanic Mount Furira, at the center of the lands of Wrath. Three days with no company save the damned souls unable to even scream at the torture of having molten fire ceaselessly poured their throats. But now, Bethany was near the summit, and the final challenge of her midterm awaited.

The balrog lurked on the caldera rim, its fiery skin ablaze with rage. Too easy. Bethany let loose a little grin as she conjured a ball of Hellwater and sent it screaming towards the beast... only to watch in horror as her strike evaporated before its heat. Ugh. Guess I'm going to have to do it the old-fashioned way, she thought as she took her mighty serpentine form, wrapping around the balrog to crush it.

The balrog's fire burned even hotter as it realized it was in serious danger. The pain was the worst Bethany had ever experienced, but she squeezed tighter and tighter, digging into its flesh. Now, it was a matter of who would break first. After what seemed like an eternity, the balrog's struggles lessened, and with one final effort, Bethany crushed its chest into embers. She turned back into her human form, body covered in burns, took the balrog's obsidian heart as her trophy, and started back down the mountain to return to the school.

Other: Bethany's father is Leviathan, Demon Lord of Envy and second in power to Lucifer himself, the Serpent in the Garden of Eden and The Beast of Revelation.

Kelly watched as the other magical girls filed out with relief. Thank God. The last thing we needed was an all-out magical brawl in the school. No way to cover that up. As the conversation turned back towards the Christmas party, Kelly thought of ways she could contribute to the event. "Alright, I've got a killer fruit punch recipe I can make. Are we picking names out of a hat, or putting the presents in a bag?"

Rebecca shook her head as she drove to the precinct. There had been "incidents" at Paradise before, but obviously nothing like this. Sure, she didn't need to eat or anything, but if the bar stayed closed too long, people would start to ask questions. She needed to know when the investigators would be done and she could reopen.

As she entered the precinct, a couple of people were already there, talking about the fact that they still had to be questioned. "They already got to me, but I still need to know when I can get back to business."
