Sorry, not going to have the time anymore.
Gertrude raced down from her dorm, trying her hardest not to swear. It was both unladylike and sinful, and she wasn't sure which was worse. Still, she was late, but she got into her Spellmaking class, overhearing the professor mentioning something about water magic. "Sorry I wasn't here on time, Professor. It won't happen again, I swear to the gods." She quickly bowed, then took her seat.

Saram started molding her clay, forming it into the shape of a crude dog. "I thought I'd do something simple- the transmutation is the key part of this, after all." She stopped to admire her handiwork, then took a deep breath. "Alright, here goes." The redhead concentrated deeply, a quiet hum of sorcery building up around her. There was a flash of light that slowly faded away to reveal the dog had indeed been transfigured into crystal-clear glass- and so had her right arm. "Great."
Still here, just waiting for full lore before I commit to my character.
I'll join.
Gertrude smiled when AJ suggested tea. "I'd love that, AJ. A good chamomille sounds wonderful right now." She got up, smoothing out a wrinkle in her sleeves. "So, do you do anything for fun? Reading? Art? Exorcise... er, exercise?" A little wink, to let him know she was having fun. She might have been what she was, but even she wasn't completely above it all.

@Stone
do the timey-wimey thing.
"Quite a tale, Mala. Perhaps we can find you a way to stay human, if you'd like. Actually, your problem is similar to mine. I have troubling holding my shape, too. It's really uncomfortable to wake up as a newt." She looked up at a clock and then swore. "We're late for Alteration! Oh, crap!" The red-haired witch raced out of the dorm at top speed, which wasn't much in such dimly lit, cramped space.
Gertrude blinked at Vivian's appearance. So he's her... but that would mean... oh, gods! She couldn't help it, it was simply too much by half. After a good few seconds of cheerful laughter at the awkwardness of the whole situation, she recovered enough to introduce herself. "Well, this is going to be an uncomfortable year. Saint Gertrude at your service." She gave Vivian a friendly glance. "You know, they say forgiveness is divine, Vivian. You might want to watch yourself. The doors of heaven might not be as closed to you as you think."

Sarah had managed to wrap her head around the dog talking, somewhat. Sitting down on what passed for a bed in this dump, she started putting her thoughts in order. "Time magic? That's... incredible stuff, Parr. My parents were always yelling at me to make more time for school, so maybe you can help with that. And Mala, you told me earlier that you're an apple that becomes human? How does that work, exactly? Magic fertilizer?"
Gertrude smiled at AJ's awkwardness. The guy was so cute! And speaking of cute, she opened the door to her new room and gasped. It was so frilly and overblown, she had to stop for a second and just take it all in, conflicted. The modest part of her was ready to faint, but her inner six-year-old was absolutely squeeing with delight. Dropping her bags on one of the beds, she looked back at AJ. "Well, guess this is home sweet home."

Meanwhile, Sarah looked at her room and sighed. "Rats." Speaking of which, there probably were a fair few vermin in here. The shapechanging sorceress set Mala down on a dresser, then heard a rather refined voice. Looking down, she saw it was coming from a dog. But her beastspeaking powers hadn't activated, which meant... "You're actually talking? I guess I can now safely say I've seen it all- or heard it, rather."
Gertrude nodded solemnly as she got her room assignment. R-17. Got it. She headed out to Dorm Rose, noting the beautiful landscaping. It seemed that some of the rumors about just how low-quality the school was weren't quite true. The stairs were a long climb, but she eventually made her way up. The sounds of footsteps came behind her as she set her meager belongings down. "And you must be AJ. Greetings. I'm Gertrude."

Meanwhile, with a great effort, Sarah managed to turn herself back to human. A redhead in a green dress, she took Mala's apple and started for the Azalea dorms. After all, her poor roommate would have a hard time getting there without legs.

"So, you have transformation issues, too? That's interesting, but you'll get better with practice. Believe me, it can be done." She made her way down into the depths, finally stopping at A4. "Well, here it is. Home sweet... home?"
