If there was a war he'd probably be fighting in it
He's not one to stay back and let people fight for him
So you character might have seen him fighting or perhaps they actually fought each other. Though how your character made it without burns would be up to you in that case.

So salamanders are a race I kind of mishmashed into a cool thing
Your character might have a faced a few that take human shape
They can control fire
There are messenger and non (basically...I had it a bit more complicated but a summary is helpful)
Non are those that take human form and can speak and be understood
Messenger keep salamander shape and can transport from hearth to hearth with messages. They mostly gurgle so really only other salamanders and Feoras can understand them.
There's also water salamanders but those are considered 'wild' similar to messenger salamanders they keep their shape but water instead of fire
Your character again would probably have experienced the non messenger ones

Well I won't go too far into timing specifically because belle is the other half and the breaking up was hatched between us
So I will go semi vague and say it would be after they broke up
Feoras would be more likely to hate in the moment. Basically fighting for the sake of protecting his land.....he really is confused as to why winter hates him.
Again I would like belle to be involved to figure out how long.

I'm not opposed to adding a war
Perhaps after winter and summer broke off winter was really mad before she froze her heart and they fought for awhile
Of course it's up to belle since I'm fine either way ^.^
