The judges said that this was an extremely hard one to judge this time. In third place with a total of 255 is Nick from Lillycove City in Hoenn who captured a Beedrill. He will receive a Sitrus Berry. The judge then announced that this was unprecedented. They actually had a tie for first place. These trainers both got a score of 300 points. The crowd began to murmur at the rarity of a tie in the contest. The judge continued that both trainers are from here in Johto, and both placed highly in the Indigo League last year. "Catching a Scyther and a Nincada respectively, the winners of the contest are...........From Ecruteak City Shiranui Tsukiko, and from Blackthorn City, Liam Coleman!" The judges said that each trainer would receive a random evolutionary stone. A digital roulette wheel appeared on the screen. It was divided into ten sections, each one had a picture of one of the evolutionary stones. Liam pressed the button and the wheel landed on Water Stone. Liam was handed a Water Stone.
An airhorn sounded to announce the contest was over. All contestant were asked to gather in the east building for judging. Liam walked to the specified building with Staravia flying behind him.
Liam continued his training of Staravia.
The contest began. Liam began his search He found a Nincada.
"Nincada, The Trainee Pokemon. Because it lived almost entirely underground, it is nearly blind. It uses its antennae instead. It can sometimes live underground for more than 10 years. It absorbs nutrients from the roots of trees."
Liam called Staravia out. A well timed Sell Wing weakened the Nincada enough to be caught. Liam had twenty-five minutes left and decided it would be a good idea to use this time to train Staravia more.

The boys made it on time. They were asked what Pokemon they wanted to use in the Bug Catching Contest. Liam chose Staravia.
The duo eventually exited the forest. It was a short hike up the road to Goldenrod City. Liam checked in at the Pokemon Center. Joy told them that the bug catching contest in National Park would be starting very soon. After a quick healing, if they hurried they would make it on time to participate.
"Well, lets move on to Goldenrod." Liam suggested.
