Liam encountered a Machop inside the cave. He called on Jiraiya. The Froakie won and evolved.

"Frogadier, the Bubble Frog Pokemon, and the evolved form of Froakie. It can throw bubble-covered pebbles with precise control, hitting empty cans up to a hundred feet away. Its swiftness is unparalleled. It can scale a tower of more than 2,000 feet in a minute's time."

Liam finally caught up with Ryan. "Here you are." He said.

"I wonder what his beef with Viola is." Liam thought aloud. "We should probably catch up with him though."

"Well, shall we move on?" Liam inquired.

Pokemon: Kalos

"So, where are you three off two next?" Mr. Coleman inquired. A dark skinned man approached, "I bet they are heading for the Cyllage City Gym, right?" he asked. Liam confirmed the speculation. The man introduced himself as that gym's leader, Cliff. and that he looked forward to their battles there. He then excused himself and left to return to his gym.

Mr. Coleman appluded the valliant battles done by the three heroes.

Mr. Coleman explained it was simply a 1-on-1 battle, and he sent Poliwrath out first. Diantha approached hearing Ryan's comment. She explained the last time before now someone gave Gardevoir a good battle was a boy who had a Pikachu riding on his shoulder. She saw Liam. "So you must be Thomas' son, Liam. Your father has told me a lot about you." She then gave an explanation of the rules of the facility, and the ranking system and procedure. There were six new trainers present. It was decided that they would be put against one trainer each. Each trainer uses one Pokemon. The winners will become barons or baronesses. They will receive these white capes. Liam was randomly matched against the only female of the six. The girl called out a Flabébé.

"Flabébé, It draws out and controls the hidden power of flowers. The flower Flabébé holds is most likely part of its body. When it finds a flower it likes, it dwells on that flower its whole life long. It floats in the wind's embrace with an untroubled heart." Liam sent out Scarlet, the Finnekin.

"Flabébé, Lucky Chant!" The girl called.
"Will O' Wisp!" Liam called. The Flabébé made Scarlet unable to get critical hits briefly, while she burned the fairy type.
"Tackle." The girl ordered.
"Scarlet, use Flame Charge!" Liam called. The Pokemon collided with one another.
"Fairy Wind Flabébé!"
"Flame Charge!" Liam called. Both attacks hit. Scarlet became enveloped in the whit light and evolved into Braixen.

"Braixen, the Fox Pokemon, and the evolved form of Finnekin. It has a twig stuck in its tail. With friction from its tail fur, it sets the twig on fire and launches into battle. When the twig is plucked from its tail, friction sets the twig alight. The flame is used to send signals to its allies."
"Flamethrower!" Liam called. The attack hit and finished the Flabébé.
"Flabébé is unable to continue, Braixen wins. The winner and new Baron is Liam Coleman of Blackthorn City!" The ref announced. The official handed Liam the white cape that identified Liam as a Baron.

Liam's father approached the heroes. "Hello boys." He said. He saw Ryan. "You must be a new friend of Liam's." He said. " I am Liam's father."
