“Jiriya has the special ability, Protean.” Liam explained. “His type changes to match the move he’s using. Now, Night Slash!” Jiriya slashed at Dusknoir. Phoebe called for a Curse, which allowed Jiriya’s next Night Slash to finish it. Phoebe sent out her final Pokémon, Sabeleye, who was immediately hurt by the spikes.

It will be a fun six-on-six battle, much like every other battle in the Championship Leauge. Only The challenger, Mr. Coleman will be permitted to substitute Pokémon.”

“Another Power up Punch!” Liam called.
“Poison Jab!” Sidney ordered. The two moves connected. Jiriya avoiding being poisoned. Scrafty was hit critically.
“Aerial Ace!” Liam ordered.
“Crunch!” Sidney ordered. Jiriya delivered a swift jab to Scrafty, who bit down on Jiriya’s arm.
“While it’s holding on, Power up Punch!” Liam ordered. Scruffy was hit on the head and KO’d.
“Scrafty is unable to battle, Jiriya wins!” The official stated.
“Very impressive, I can see why you won the Evergrande Conference, let alone becoming Kalos’ Grand Duke” Sidney praised. “But, now let’s continue, Shiftree! Go!” Sidney ordered. Liam asked Jiriya if he wanted to continue, to which the Greninja gave a thumbs up.

Liam than told Jiriya to use Grass Knot when Sharpedo went in with an Ice Fang. Jiriya was hurt badly by that move. Liam called for a Shadow Sneak, which finished Sharpedo off, and Jiriya was hurt by Rough Skin. Sidney next sent out Mandibuzz Liam recalled Jiriya and sent out Hitmonchan.

“Hitmonchan is unable to battle, Mandibuzz wins.” Liam grabbed the next ball, and Jiriya popped back out from his ball instead. “You want to continue Jiriya?” Liam asked.
“Ninja!” Jiriya confirmed.
“I’m truly impressed, but don’t think that means I’ve lost yet.” Sidney stated. He sent out Absol next.

"Thanks." Liam said. Liam than went to do his training prep. During his week of prep, Liam's father arrived. Liam's parents, along with Shiranui and Florence were all invited to sit down to the stage.
"I have a week to prep." Liam said. "That is plenty of time to allow them all to train, along with a day for rest." Liam said.
"Hitmonchan has Iron Fist, so with the Element Punches, he should be able to handle a wide verity." Liam thought out loud." He turned to Shiranui and thanked him. He than went to retrieve his Pokémon from healing and than called Oak so that he could get his desired team assembled for training.
"Well, I'm looking at Jiriya, Sylveon, Scarlet, Goodra, Grimm, but the last one is where I'm stuck. I don't have many particularly strong Pokémon with an advantage over Sydney, and he's first up." Liam said. "They will however allow me to heal my Pokémon, but I am not allowed to switch anyone out, unless Joy orders that they be rotated out to heal from serious injuries."
"Well, I'm taking Jiriya and Sylveon in for sure." Liam said.
