Just for my curiosity what aspects of your character would be dependant or change depending on the random given power?

None.

Knowing the power only tells me whether or not to spend the effort to create my character.

If the power is not something I am willing to play with, then creating a character before finding out is a waste of time, and I avoid wasting my time as much as possible.
