Gotta love people suddenly becoming apolitical when someone is doing something they approve of.

In light of recent events involving the French Empire's decisions, the United States government is respectfully requesting the French government to rescind its declaration of war upon the United States. This Republic was founded with French help and support, and the United States wishes that the relationship forged many years ago in the fires of revolution can continue. So far, no French or US men have been killed, no shots fired in anger against either side. We are not asking for money or material, simply neutrality in the conflict. An honorable peace for both sides can be achieved if we both demand it.

United States Secretary of State
Yeah. And you also stole the best line from the Gettysburg Address!
Next turn, new US National Anthem:

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson said that. He owned slaves for his entire life, but he had something on that point. It seems that a tyrant now exists across the Atlantic. Queen Victoria, little old Vicky who has reigned for maybe just a bit too long? She is clearly not well. Shall I read excerpts from her last statement to this body? Quote ."A man's freedom ends when he chooses to infringe upon the God-given rights of another man." Agreed, which is what the South is doing to our Negro brethren. But yet who is their ally, who is the one that would drag them kicking and screaming into war and destruction simply because it's fun? Why, that would be Vicky herself. Another quote, " If a Nation is to be Free like a man, then a Nation must also abide by the Law like a man." Agreed, which is curious because Vicky ignores all diplomatic law and decorum and declares war and blockades a nation who has yet to declare war on her. I would go on, but the smell of bull dung from this document offends my olfactory senses so badly I can no longer stand having it this close to my face!

That is just two of many hypocritical statements the government of the Queen have issued in the past year. I say the Queen and all the men of Parliament should be taken care of. It is not wrong to say in the slightest that we here in America pine for the days of Cromwell. The people of Great Britain cannot abide by a government that ignores conventional wisdom, sense, and decency and attaches itself to a group of slavers and villains, a government that tramples over the rights of its people, that gives away land for seemingly no reason other than fun. Yes, Great Britain's tree of liberty has grown old and dead. It is time for some fresh blood to liven things up.

-- Representative Thaddeus Stevens on the House floor

Two days ago.. I was quite tired, I had just been reading dispatches from the front and felt weary. I went to bed and fell into a great slumber and I soon began to dream. There seemed to be a death-like stillness about me. Then I heard subdued sobs, as if a number of people were weeping. I left my bed and wandered downstairs. There the silence was broken by the same pitiful sobbing, but the mourners were invisible. I went from room to room in search. No living person was in sight, but the same mournful sounds of distress met me as I passed along. I saw light in all the rooms; every object was familiar to me; but where were all the people who were grieving as if their hearts would break? I was puzzled and alarmed. I entered the East Room and found in the middle of the room a casket, with mourners around it. Beside the casket itself were soldiers who were acting as guards; and there was a throng of people, gazing mournfully upon the corpse, whose face was covered, others weeping pitifully. "Who is dead in the White House?" I demanded of one of the soldiers, "The President," was his answer;

I woke up in a sweat, cold chills racked my body. It seemed that I had witnessed a glimpse of my own demise. Later that morning, we received calamitous news from abroad. Power upon power aligned against us. They have been bought, cajoled, and bullied to either declare war against us, or to sit in silence and watch as the noose tightens. No longer do concepts like democracy matter in this world. All that seems to matter is coin, cannons, and parcels of land. They would wage war against us and for what reason? That we wish to keep our country together? That we wish to throw from the shackles, those that have long been denied freedom? Have we witnessed a glimpse of this Republic's demise? Perhaps we have... perhaps we have.

No matter. This Republic was founded on the principle that all men are created equal. And we will carry on with that principle, no matter how many states try to succeed, no matter how many European nations try to intimidate us, no matter how much land or money they use to purchase other nation's souls, we will fight. We stand united, Union Forever. This nation, Under God, shall see the dawn of a new freedom, or will perish from this earth. Remember, those that sided against us, when you are wading in the blood of your own soldiers and are left with nothing but the bitter taste of ashes and gunpowder. Remember well that all of this could have been avoided. Union now and Union forever!

-- Abraham Lincoln
Yeah, any nation can be conquered if you have the means and army to do it. Depending on the country, it could take a long while.
I know, but appropriate for the REAL Second American Revolution.
It helps that I've read up on the era a whole lot, including politician's speeches. I will never surrender. You can have the whole world against me and I won't surrender. Give me liberty or give me death.
