While Sakura's cards function more like pre-prepared magic spells, Terra's Memories are more like a power up like the kind in side scrolling Mario games) so I had thought he would have had too much trouble fitting into the setting if Sakura was allowed

Going back to check on his steaks, he made a small incision on one of them the check inside "ah, just right" he said, satisfied with the color of the steak's interior. Using his sword, he tossed all the steaks straight into the air. At the height of their assent, everything slowed down to Takeshi. Using his sword, he sliced them all up into bite sized pieces, like to potatoes before. Then right before they fell back on the grill, he grabbed a large plate and caught them all. Grabbing a fork, he took one of the steak pieces and tasted it. A smile blossomed on his face as he ate it. "Perfect" he said after swallowing it
