Look at you posers, having to bang dragons or sell your soul for magic when you could just play a lute for some. Anyways, here's Wonderwall. - Bards

@ZB1996Mind if I say that the Regulii had some contact with you via trade and also sorta learned some actual math from you?

Nothing fancy here, just something that's been lingering in the back of my head since I watched the anime Gate. For those of you who don't know what it is, here's the synapsis from Wikipedia:

When a portal from another world appears in Ginza, Tokyo, a legion of soldiers and monsters emerge to attack the city. Thanks to their far more advanced weaponry and tactics, the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) easily repels the enemy, passes through the gate and establish a forward base of operations to force the Roman-styled empire of the other world to open peace negotiations. Yōji Itami is a JSDF officer sent to investigate the other world, where magic, dragons and elves are real, using his knowledge of fantasy stories to make his way in this new environment.

Basically as @Keyguyperson put it, its Japanese nationalism at its okayest.

The reason why I'm putting this as a "pre-interest check" instead of a proper one is that I'm doing some other stuff both in RP and irl as well as the fact that I'm still fleshing this concept out some more.

The idea I currently have is that in the far future (2500's) when humanity has spread its wings far and wide and having been once again unified under the banner of Grand Human Union based on High Terra in the Sol System (Earth). A century has past since then and although some resentment between the Loyalists (those who fought with High Terra) and the Revolutionaries (those who fought High Terra and her allies for a shot at their own independence), the human race is once again unified and happy.

However, during a research project into something called the "Arcanum" on the planet of Ennedi, a portal opens up and waves of monsters and fantasy, medieval soldiers pour forth and wreck chaos and havoc on the capital city. However, due to the quick thinking of the local garrison, the invaders were defeated and the portal walled off.

The RP itself would begin as the GHU decides to send troops into the portal proper after several scouting teams have made some runs. I will be making some home worlds which our characters can hail from, each with some special characteristics. Don't worry though, its not going to turn into stat-based, just an outline of what troops from that planet use, specialize in and stereotypically act. I would also allow for characters from the other-side of the Gate to be used, although there might have to be a "waiting period" until those characters will be introduced into the story. Like their sci-fi counterparts, there too will be different kingdoms and such where your characters can hail from.

Now, I know that the biggest question is the tech stuff and how is the fantasy world supposed to survive. Remember the Arcanum thing that triggered the portal opening on Ennedi? The Arcanum is basically a cosmic force that spans multiple universes which allows for magic to be used, the in-game FTL drive, Anima Engines, are actually based on this to some degree. However, only fantasy world characters will be using magic, this is to keep balance and to make sure that the fantasy world isn't completely helpless.

Again, this is just to test the waters and see how many people would be interested. Eventually I'll get up a proper Int Check (assuming this gets enough interest) and explain some more stuff. Most likely the RP itself would have to wait a while as, like I've mentioned, I am busy.
Someone fucks up a Mexican casserole.

@ClocktowerEchos
Do you think that our civilizations should come into contact in the next turn? We both seem to have in common that the lizardmen want to steal our stuff.

Sure, feel free to write that before I do.

When exactly do you have out contact in mind tho?
Oh dear, it looks like I now have quite the neighbour to the south.

EDIT: And I'll get a post up later; I was busy working over my friend's house today.

EDIT 2: And how the bloody hell do you get your text bigger? I don't see it listed in the formatting cheatsheet.

It is actually, at the very bottom

THE IMPERIAL PRESS
The National News of the Imperial Republic of Fuso
March 14th, 1920

"I may lead a nation of rubble. You may work fields of ash or machines of scrap. We may stand upon a nation in ruins, but this will not last long. This Terrible War has shown us much about this new age, how it only takes one man to kill a hundred others, how the world does not wait for mercy. But my people, we stand united as one! Our soldiers have fought bravely and as have our loyal rebels who resisted the Vornehm rule! In our darkest night, they fought their finest hour! In our time of defeat, they carried the torch of resistance with hearts of iron! Our Fuso may lay in tatters, but with the right thread and fabric, our flags will fly high and proud once more!"

~ Emperor Shiatsu's Victory Speech at the end of the Terrible War and the liberation of Fuso

REBUILDING OF FUSO

With the war taking such a toil on our people, the Imperial Court and Senate have made attempts to ease the suffering of our people and return the land from death to life. Under the Reconstruction Act of 1920, the state now has control over certain aspects of industrial production. An official spokesman has stated this is to "ensure that the industrial might of Fuso stays well oiled at crucial levels of production to quicken our recovery." Four former industrial plants that were damaged during the war are already planned to be demolished or converted into temporary shelters as the government makes haste on restoring farming capabilities. Several new models of modern farming equipment, both foreign and domestic have been introduced to the markets in hope of increasing outputs as the Emperor announces new agriculture subsidies to encourage additional farmers to "feed the tired and hungry".

REARMING THE MILITARY

In a slightly controversial move, the Senate has released the following statement about the rebuilding of military forces:

"Although it pains the Imperial Senate to have to force the people to be reminded of such a horrible war, we are afraid that we have learned that perhaps the world is not quite as friendly nor benevolent as we once thought. As such, the Senate has approved of measure to rearm Fuso in the case of future aggression."

It is rumored that such measures were spearheaded by the former General Tujoki who has been steadily gaining support from within the government. Regardless, men have begun to march towards army bases and recruitment centers in droves, their efforts being focused in the province of Kahime. Amongst the new fresh faces are many former rebels who cotniued the fight against Vornehm after the forced surrender. In reply, several factories originally meant to feed new consumer goods into the populance have been retooled to construct weapons. The Emperor personally reassured the people saying that he would "not allow the focus to be put on the military as there was still people suffering within his Republic."

REOPENING OF DIPLOMATIC MISSIONS

Under the leadership of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rasushi Yonbon, the Emperor and Senate have sent out teams of diplomats to various nations to reestablish relations. Among them is the Second Boletarian Republic, the Qinqstao Domain, the Empire of Tiam, the Kingdom of Soroya and the United Kingdoms of Athos and Stules. There are hopes within the Senate that these good relations will result in favorable political climates for our nation.

THE NAVAL QUESTION

Perhaps the largest question on all of our minds, what is to happen with the IRFN? Many are questioning its abilities after its disastrous defeat against the Vornehm invading fleet. The Emperor assure us that he has a plan for "the naval question" but is prioritizing other things ahead of the navy. In a statement released by an anonymous Senator, they have said, "Although the defeat of the old Imperial Navy and the death of many commanders, there is a silver lining to this. We have now been given a chance to reflect on what went wrong and with a now-empty chain of command, we have now been given a chance to reorganize the naval staff."

However, beyond the question of the actual ships, is the concern of dockyards. Many of the docks which had built the old IRFN had been razed by the Vornehm during their occupation, only the docks of their former colonial holdings. Once again, there has been assurance that plans to rebuild or construct new shipyards are in the works.

In the midst of the discussion, there had been one idea that rang true throughout the Senate and the people: the sacrifice of Captain Shinji Ikura. Despite the failure of the Fire Ship doctrine, Captain Ikura's devotion to his state to lay down his life in a charge will forever ring a bell in Fuso, his legacy will not be forgotten. To honor this man's legacy, Emperor Shiatsu has commissioned a statue of him to be placed in the Imperial Naval Academy. Leaked concept drawings show the captain charging at an unseen enemy with a broken sword as he gets off the ground, reminding us of how even with all odds against him, his courage, bravery, honor and sacrifice to save lives in exchange for his own will forever immortalize him.

I remember one time when I played D&D in my history teacher's room, our knight had a horrific day. So we start out and he ends up getting to hug a spike ball on the first trap roll. We enter a room only to find the history teacher's character in there as a boss. For context, we were all playing new characters and the teacher's was like... level 70. So after we all dodge and got beat up by the lvl 70 black jesus, everyone in the party besides the knight runs out and the knight gets trapped in the room and promptly becomes new wall paint and ornaments.

Of course, once our paladin resurrected him, the paladin promptly stabbed the knight for shits and giggles which lead to him taking a double arrow shot to the face, a lute to the head and a failed shield bash originally aimed at his chest, going to his groin. And if that wasn't enough, we chucked him back into the boss room.

Being a knight is hard. This is why I played ranger :^)

@KeyguypersonAt least you're okay mate :D
This seems like a fantastic RP. I'm a big fan of the setting and all of the nations that have been submitted so far. Are you still acceoting sheets? I'd love to join after I read more posts and get a good faction idea going.

As of right now, we still are :)
What's your idea?
