Varius lowered his gaze, fury unkept simply steeled as he saw the shambling corpses making their way towards the group. "Form a line! Push them back! He charged forward after pushing ahead following Itsy and KaMarma, enforcing their line further preparing his gladius steeled in hand as he thrusted the blade for the throat segment on Zombie 4, his braced left hand clenched in defense aiding in the Team's defense and Itsy's retreat.

Action 3: Defensive stance amongst his peers
Varius listened to the others talking as his feet crunched in the snow, his muscles turning red to the cold as his blood focused on keeping him warm as it circulated his system but he didn't shiver, more focused on the rotten landscape around them as they walked to Nan-Li, knowing if they even faltered on the path to their mission, how could they survive fighting the undead? He didn't speak but he constantly kept his eyes and head moving, listening for outliers beyond their party as well as figures moving within the fog.
Ryker proceeded along his eyes locked behind those he was following. Still not talking much as stepped past Mantis, letting remaining bones crush under his feet. Focused more on getting inside as much as Xune but for other reasons, that he may not even fully understand. He was just more stoic than before as he moved behind Xune and her skeletons. Looking at the lines and definition of the pyramid in this wretched place, causing a rise of disgust on his face at the putridness of this ungodly structure.
Varius looked over shoulder when he heard it was time to go, he'd finish the apple as he followed the group that began to move out. His boots clicked against stone, following close behind the group when they were now outside marching to the gates, boots now crackling under. "We are a sizeable group, even if they know we're coming, we have the numbers to drive them back. Even if the undead are organized, they are still shambling corpses." Varius spoke once he fully reached the front amongst the others, his stride sliding with the contour of the snow along the ground, as he kept his gaze forth even as it grew dark, he remained close to those with torches and light.
Ryker having recovered fully from his near death since then, he really hasn't spoken, even as he chose to remain amongst his group. Walking the Fae See, his eyes wondered the darker plain they had entered, the trees warped, cursed, rotted was how he saw it. The ground crunched like bone with every step the party took as they neared the pyramid. Witnessing it's opening as well as the rising of the dead, shambled minions of all sorts. Ryker stepped forward, feeling the surge of Xune's barrier being made upon him, he unsheathed his sword. Most of his gear had been either repaired or refurbished, less rusted but still normal steel as that's what he trusted the most as he'd join Lorien running in on right side, his guard forward at an elevated position now as he struck one of the shambling corpses with a cleaving downward strike as the undead closed in, his blade aiming to bite down on weak connections with force.

Varius stood off to the side eating an apple, with a water skin in the other hand as he took a sip. Watching out the window, clearly keeping distance from the others, not out of malicious intent but of his own isolation. As he drank his water he watched movement in the smog of the world beyond him. Looking at the trees and the walls as if they would come to life with the chaos around them. Varius took another crunch of his apple as he thought [“We need to succeed so they can live, then figure out a way to save what land they have so they can grow.”]. He sighed as he turned towards the group, resting against the windowsill as he watched them eat amongst one another.
Varius shifted softly, as he looked at the gathering of many Beastkin, it didn't surprise him more less made him anxious. He remained silent as he listened as he kept his gaze forward. "We've haven't really discussed everyone's abilities. We definitely need to make sure we all know who should remain as medicinal and healing so they can remain in the back. I fight with my blade and body, yet I think range would be the safest for cutting down the hordes if we are to take out the Rider. No telling if their infection nature, can easily infest the living." Varius voice darkened as he spoke, thinking about their enemy. Thinking as his eyes returned to the outskirts as he folded his arms focused on the fight ahead more than the people that more than likely hate him, for being there, not having scratched out old details enough even as most of his armor and cloth were torn up from his previous battles and immigration here. It played in his mind, at least his beliefs, knowing it wasn't going to be easy. There fear of a redemption he may never obtain.
Varius nodded with a soft chuckle "Guess it's a man hunt then, so if that's the case it makes sense you want a team of adventurers going after the main cause of these problems." Varius nodded as he looked at his allies in respect even Itsy "So we move at dusk, to look for the rider. I am pleased to meet many extraordinary people. We are all fighters in this no matter, what you come from... change is now, and we're here to make change." Varius expressed as he'd move to sit idly as others of their company can speak. "I do believe we should all properly become acquainted, I am Varius. Again it's a pleasure, to be here. " Varius bowed his head as he sat straight in the chair.
Varius stepped forward calmly, posture calm and collected as he spoke lightly. "I trust then, as our formed group. We are heading to these sacred grounds. What should we do if the ground is tainted by this hooded figure and their entourage? Even if we succeed in pushing them back at the head of the problem, what about the long term?" Varius held concern in his voice, as he stared out to Nan Gau. "It's once again those playing god preying on the weak, and I won't stand for that." Varius watched and listens out the window for any further horns, or even movement.

Varius heard the horns, could feel the air shift around the city. His eyes locked on the outskirts that surround them. His hand reached for his helmet as he began to place it on his head. He didn't quiver but he knew they'd need to pool where needed. "Sir Nakamura, are there civilians alive and being held somewhere? Other than this Hall? The importance is making sure their survival, even if we fail the buildings we won't fail the people. If things get worse we can make a route for survivors. I'll put my life on the line to make sure your people get out safely." Varius spoke on, his eyes held high with determination even with his self doubt if being here was a good idea, he wasn't going to let his fear get in the way of making sure people were safe. Varius stood up from his chair, as he looked out to the West seeing the fog rolling in now, the smell of death and decay made him shudder, but he didn't recoil or cover his nose. The familiar scent of death wafting over him, even if that death was walking, he wasn't afraid of what's to come but what was around him in close proximity as he rested firm on the window Sill staring out into the fog, seeing shadows dancing, yet he could barely make them out if living or undead.
