I have an RP idea in mind where you play either a militarized task force designed to eliminate paranormal activity, or something akin to the Umbrella Secret Service.

I am trying to worldbuild god civs akin to the Time Lords or Xeelee, but so far I've yet to get anything concrete down. It is a tad frustrating, but I'll come up with something eventually. I hope.

@Obscene: And that is true. I might try that with a character I'm making for a fic actually. Though they'll be no-nonsense in a largely jovial kind of way.

Yeah. Static was just what popped into my head as the closest descriptor since those are less focused on the character's arc or internal struggle. Not the best wording to use admittedly.

I just want more protagonists with that same resolve, or barring that ones who aren't confused young adults looking to find their place in life analogues.

@Zyx I'm honestly torn over whether to incorporate a chat server. A dedicated chat server can make OOC business snappier to resolve, but getting everyone to sign on and use it can be a real hassle, I've found. Using the forum's OOC section is certainly easier, but slower, and can be difficult to scroll through when necessary. For now, I'm thinking I should only use a chat server if there's ample demand for it.

Thank you again for the advice, Zyx. I needed that.

>No problem. 👍
>Mhm. Beyond that I'm not entirely sure what else could be done. I'd say make a Discord, but that generally takes attention away from a roleplay's OOC section - which if the posting is slow by nature - makes the RP seem dead. Granted, a Discord also means faster communication, so it's a tradeoff only you can decide.

>Otherwise, there's not much more I can think of to add. Other than that the best way to see what works, ultimately, is to throw the RP out and see what sticks. It's only after contact with the players that the strengths and weaknesses of a roleplay become apparent, after all.
I appreciate the feedback! I agree that a nation RP sounds unwise for what I have planned here. I also wholeheartedly agree that the science should not take precedence over the story. It's cool and all, but it's the people that make the story go. But I am prone to focusing on the fun science stuff, so I will certainly take your advice to heart.

You made a good point about PvP. I'll have to mull over how to mediate that.

>You're welcome! Although on the last point if I might offer another suggestion, the best way might be to just have players plan out pivotal confrontations with one another and yourself, then have them write a collab scene or some such. That way all parties are aware of what's going to occur, and no one gets taken by surprise in the flow of combat.
>While I'm not interested in joining another RP at the moment, I do have a bit of advice. I recommend you avoid making this a nation RP as those are generally about players making their own factions that then interact with each other in a giant sandbox, sometimes with an end goal and other times not. And even then there's exceptions to this, but last I recall those don't typically last too long, if at all. That and with only two to three major factions as the main focus, it doesn't really seem to gel with what NRP is about. I definitely think that for your first foray into sci-fi you should keep it focused, and an adventure RP would certainly fit the bill.

>Plus, this takes inspiration from Star Trek, and that was all about the interpersonal relationships of those aboard the Enterprise as they explored the final frontier. Other than that, remember not to let the science take precedence over your story. 'Tis an endeavor to write something enjoyable and fun, not to be the next Asimov or Arthur C. Clarke.

>Oh and if you feel you're up for mediating PVP when players do inevitably clash, then definitely let people play both sides of the conflict. It'd open more opportunities and hooks for those looking to play the morally gray or profiteer type character.
>Ah, never mind then.
>Though do put it into a hider before moving it over to the character's tab.
Drax Razorwing

Age: 29

Appearance:

As you can tell by the picture provided, he's humanoid red dragon with fully developed wings. He clothes are inspired by 14th century buccaneers. He duel wields 2 magic swords. Eater of Metals and Portalbrande. What isn't shown is that he has various small magical time based devises on his person, each having their own unique function.

Foreground:

That's right, foreground. Drax is from the future. He was a lead inventor to a new type of magitek, the kind with the ability to manipulate temporal reality. However, one of his projects went awry, as one does when messing with fundamental components of the universe. It sent him to the even more far future, as well as a time similar to 2020, (He fortunately avoided learning what an NFT is) and even prehistoric times. However, a dinosaur stepped on his device, sending him through one more jump to this current time. He fully intends to get the components needed to travel back to his original time. Though, he was curious how he is able to travel back in time before the creation of his machine, he's going to blame loop theory. He likes to imagine that he's negative in age because of this whole mess.

Personality

Besides being obviously intelligent in both magic and late 23rd century tech, Drax has a precedent for innovation and will push the envelope in all areas of his life. Cuisine, hobbies, fashion, it doesn't matter. He'll always go to the biggest and newest thing. Dragons are naturally greedy, and Drax is no exception, he is a reckless spender. Despite his "Live life to the largest" philosophy, he can be very nostalgic, and will 100% collect things no longer available in his base time. As for social situations, he's very assertive, but not aggressively so, this is reflected in his combat style, which is very melee oriented.

Abilities:

Drax has various time based powers, including:
Save Point: Using a solar powered watch, Drax is able to create a save point in any location, upon activating the watch again, he will immediately teleport to the saved point. He can sadly only keep one save point at a time and limited in uses when his watch hasn't charged.

Echo Clones: When Drax swings his weapon, he is able to replicate that move again following another attack. For example, he can swing widely preemptively and then stab at your legs, causing a green shadow of himself to appear and replicate the swing attack. This makes it almost like fighting 2 versions of himself at once.

Perfect Spatial Recall: His tech allows him to analyze the composition and shape of any area he's been in, allowing for total ease of travel and hidden areas. Sadly this doesn't work on lifeforms, or areas that have recently destroyed, Drax himself will have to autosync it to the new states.

As for his weapons:
Eater of Metals: Inspired by the concept of Megaman, Eater of Metals has elemental memory, it can replicate the elements of previously defeated enemies, right now it's only state is fire, but it can do things like ice, darkness, or even magnetism.

Portalbrande: A weapon designed to make mincemeat of the laws of spacial relations. Drax can activates its magitek to temporarily make a portal in an area, and use it again to make a connecting portal. Creating a 3rd portal will connect it to the 2nd, but destroy the 1st. Sadly, it won't work with objects in the way, so he can't rend someone into oblivion with it.

>Approved.
>@Mae & @BreathOfTheWoof: Just a ping to see if you're both still interested in this roleplay/to check in and see how your characters are coming along if you've started work on them.
>Also, Known Locations has been updated.

>Approved. I look forward to the frustration this will add to Sazama's life, and probably Foxley's too.
