Seeing actual bushfire footage looks straight out of Hell... It moves so quickly and so powerfully, literally the trees just ignite. You firefighters are absolute legends, but please, don't die.

Welcome to my little personal den of Hell! Sorry, sorry, I meant my personal profile. Same thing, right?
I'm a roleplayer, same as any around here. I've been doing it for about five years now, coming up to six in September. Its been quite the time, thinking back. I started out fresh as can be, understanding the basics of writing but never quite knowing how to become better, or become as great as those around me. In the end, I did the only thing I really knew at the time:
Write as much garbage as possible and hope for the best!
As you can see, that particular tactic fucking failed. Jokes aside, I like to think I've developed a lot over the years, both as a writer and as a person. However, absolutely nothing can dissuade my weeaboo ways and supporting my OTP with all that I can freaking muster! If you haven't already guessed, said OTP is Chrom x Robin (Chrobin) from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Highly recommend the game, there's a reason (other than nintendo's cheapskate attitude) that it hasn't dropped in price, it's honestly the best place to start off in the series. And hey, maybe you'll end up addicted like me and want to buy every game on the 3DS like a fucking loony?
Speaking of loonies, the Fire Emblem Chrobin Comic Dub Project has recently finished, so for those of you who also appreciate the best ship in existence, I highly recommend it. Hell, even if you're not interested in that, I do highly recommend watching it for those into fantasy love stories. The quality improves drastically with each episode, so trust me when I say by the end of it you should be thoroughly impressed. It has helped motivate me in ways I can hardly describe with words, and so I thought the least I could do was put this out there. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I know it was the perfect thing for me.
"Do you think you can tip any of the scales in here?" "Chrom, for the love of Naga, I'm thinking..."
"So I heard."
"There are better places to take a nap than on the ground, you know."
There is a universe. No-one knows it's name, where gravity wasn't strong enough to bind matter together and no stars formed. And because no stars formed, no stars exploded. And because no stars exploded, no planets came about. And because no planets came about, there was no life.
There's another universe, no one knows it's name, where gravity was strong enough and did light the stars and planets came about and boy, they were gorgeous, planets in perpetual winter, planets in perpetual summer, planets that could rival the Garden of Eden and no bloody snakes! And on one of them, eventually, complex life evolved and one of the species developed large brains learned things like manners and dabbing, when they looked up at the stars and wonder what they were doing here. You called them octopuses, I suppose. Gosh, they were clever, for octopuses, and one of them, several million years in, almost wrote something in ink on the seafloor, a message to its friend. And the message almost read: "Hi! How are you?" And a few millennia later, space folder back on itself and, you get the idea. Goodbye Octopi.
There's another universe, where life formed on every planet, in every solar system, and it was carbon-based, it was silicon based, it was made of crystals and water and plasma, it was made of quantum fields and light, and everything was alive, everything was doing a boogie, and it was everybody's birthday, everyday, relatively, and everyone got presents, and they had over a trillion languages, some written down, some only spoken, some conducted telepathically, and they bought a galactic civilization together, as a perfect unity, sharing stories, sharing technology, speaking a common tongue, understanding everything about how the cosmos been put together. And finally, when everything was sorted, the galaxies were arranged into perfect geometric formations, transmitting pure love, and wisdom, and birthday greetings to all species in the universe, for all time. Papercuts never happened, coke came in glass bottles, no one even remembered the word for war, everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.
And yet, for a quirk in their evolution, because resources weren't scarce enough on the planets these species developed on, not a single creature in the universe was conscious. Food was eaten and no-one enjoyed it. Movies were released, and there was no laughing, or crying. No-one chuckled at a joke. Ever. Space collapsed back on itself, eventually, and there hadn't been a single moment of sentience in the entire history of creation.
There's another universe, where the strong force is too strong the weak force is too weak and nothing forms. Another, where life develops too late when the Stars have all gone beyond the light boundary and there's nothing to even see. Another with too many dimensions. Another with not enough. Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn to survive. Another that only lasts milliseconds, and collapses in on itself, and heads straight back to oblivion. And that's how it just might be, across all possible universes, across all possible space times. Problems with the laws of nature, not enough resources, missteps in evolution. An atlas of dead-ends.
Then again, there is one exception.
There's another universe, a big one, where life is rare, where intelligent life is very rare indeed, the stars are very distant from each other, the laws of nature are very complex, it's extremely lonely for any species developing, and most never even develop at all, but somewhere, we believe, is a planet where the oceans are vast, and the climate is varied. Where the smartest species on the planet may have developed just the right mix of ambition and kindness. And if you were to travel there, to this unbelievably rare statistical anomaly, to this impossibly lucky planet, where evolution, biology, chemistry, nae, the laws of physics themselves have come together to create sentient intelligent life, you may be able to catch the native inhabitants singing for joy. Of what an impossibly lucky, and rare position they find themselves in. It is a chant of gratitude, a ritual of showing appreciation for ending up in perhaps the one universe, in the one solar system, on the one planet with all the basic ingredients for intelligent, conscious life.
I am also currently on a phone that's not even mine, so I barely have a clue what I'm doing. On that subject, any other young person still completely inept with smartphones or is that just me and my lack of experience with them? Anyway Delta, if you would please move your C.S over for me that would be appreciated. :D
Personality: Rachel isn't very... talkative. She never was much of a talker, even around her family, although that's not to say she didn't enjoy herself, nor that she was mute. Soft-spoken and timid to most, Rachel is everything you would expect from a girl her age going through what many refer to as "Hell on Earth". Become one she truly trusts and she'll start talking more, however compared to most her age she's still rather quiet. She's brutally honest, though knows when to keep quiet, and appears to be quite good at understanding a situation.
She's not overly athletic, and is far weaker physically than most, though is capable of accomplishing small feats. Her intelligence is slightly above average (keyword "slightly"), and her mind is still rather underdeveloped due to her being so young. In fact the only real pro in terms of her characteristics is her innocence and small stature, however both of those are just as equal weaknesses as they are strengths. In order for her to become a stronger person, it will take a lot of time and effort.
Physical Description: Rachel is short in stature, again even compared to those her age and sometimes even younger. She's also just as thin as she is short, and the apocalypse hasn't made her figure any better. Her freckled face is accompanied by innocent, dark blue eyes that seem to glow like the ocean, and her sweet smile is capable of bringing joy to even the most sorrowful heart. Her hair, such a dark brown it's practically black, is tied back in an unkempt ponytail, reaching down to lengths well beyond what is deemed "safe" for the zombie apocalypse, though she was assured by her mother that this wasn't a hazard. Her clothes include a simple hoodie of faded red which is patched in odd places, as well as blue jeans ripped at the kneecaps and a white, long sleeve shirt of minimal wear.
History: Rachel, before the outbreak, lived a poor but otherwise great life, to two loving parents and an only child. Growing up she was home-schooled, however made great friends with those who lived on the same street as her. Unlike most people turned poor, her mother and father worked hard to get stable jobs in the workforce in order to look after both themselves and their child, whilst also educating her in things such as maths, sciences, literature and whatnot. Despite not going to school until she was 8, Rachel was known as one of the smarter kids among her peers, though that could be because she never spoke up unless she was 100% certain her answer would be correct, or when she was called upon.
Living on a poor income was tough on all the family, however they used this opportunity to further their bond and pick up plenty of techniques on survival. It was only six months ago that Rachel's mother managed to score a high-paying job in construction, and they were finally able to start putting more filling meals on the table. Of course, they didn't know that the apocalypse was just around the corner and it wouldn't mean squat very soon, however they enjoyed what felt like luxury while it lasted...
Life after the outbreak: When news of the outbreak was told on the TV, Rachel's parents immediately knew what to do. Those early poor life choices that started them off finally gave them the experience that was needed, and Rachel's father drove straight to the nearest gunstore and food market with all the money they had, buying everything he could to help them along. Needless to say, many things were brought. Rachel's mother, on the other hand, stayed at home with Rachel and began sorting and figuring out what was essential and what was not, how they could carry it, where they would go and just what to do in general. By the time Rachel's father had returned home, all the preparations had been made...
For the following month, Rachel and her parents have been moving about throughout the city, unlike those who tried to stay in one place, they remained on the move. The trio figured staying in the city for a little while could actually be beneficial, since there are more supplies that one can find if they look in the right places, and they could then use that to further their survival outside the city. Since both her mother and father have forever been in Pittsburgh, one raised on the eastern side and the other the west, the three actually survived and almost thrived in this city-turned-wasteland, knowing almost every corner and just about all the great places to fortify on either side of the city. The trio essentially went base-hopping, going from group to group of survivors, exchanging things they needed for a place to sleep before moving on. This tactic worked well for them, and by the end of the month, the three were almost ready to head out...
... Then: bandits.
They attacked by surprise one night, in a disorganized and sloppy fashion. Rachel and her mother, having slept on the floor above her father, who was keeping watch for the night on the first floor, managed to make their escape while their father held off the bandits. The gunfire could be heard for miles around, attracting the unwanted attention of the living dead.
Rachel's mother was bit later that night.
Rachel already knew what happened to people who were bitten by the 'bad people', however she didn't want her mother to become bad like them. Pleading with her mother, Rachel tried just about everything she could think of to try and help her mother, however her mom knew that there was nothing they could do. Rachel wasn't willing to leave her mother's side, and there were still zombies tailing them... so, in order to protect her daughter, she had to knock her unconscious. Having found themselves in a drug store, Rachel's mother had managed to find a bottle of estazolam tablets, and had Rachel induce two tablets, which effectively knocked her unconscious. Quickly moving to the back alleyway, Rachel's mother cleared away some trash bags, set her daughter and all the possessions she could spare down, and covered her again in trash bags, hesitating before taking off with a semi-automatic rifle.
... And then, once she was a far enough distance away, she began shooting. A horde followed, however Rachel's mother made an effort to get as far away from that drug store as possible, taking down as many of those creatures as she could.
She made sure to save one, final bullet for herself.
Rachel continued to survive in the trash bags for the past three days without moving a muscle. Her memory remains foggy about what happened just before the incident, and has only had a simple letter from her mother to keep her there, in the trash bags. However, as time drew on, she began to think more and more about venturing out and finding her parents, and then finding a way out of the city. Yet, just as she plans to move out, she hears something so familiar at first that it almost seems foreign: footsteps. They draw nearer and nearer, lying just beyond the bags which cover her. There are no moans, no wails of the undead, and the steps sound orderly.
@Mordon*Cough* Rachel was the one making the coughing noises *cough* XD That sounds pretty cool! I was hoping a player would come along and not have it be some random NPC :P
I think it's done! If there are any errors or anything just lemme know! :P

@Evil Snowman Ah, yes, Psycho Pass. I've been meaning to get to that as well XD Your circumstances are perfectly acceptable! Besides it's not like I can ban you from the thread XD
@DoubleFurCollar Oh don't worry, I make weak characters specifically so they can drag both themselves and others into danger XD Though she may not be the fighting type, she'll definitely have her fair share of run-ins with the undead. Hell, I'm perfectly fine with her dying if I make a bad mistake. This is a zombie RP after all :P

Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn
to survive.

~Exurb1a
