Current I think I'm Advanced+ level and could do that. But under Adv, I feel compelled to write a certain way and it makes writing feel more like a chore even if it's just in my head. Thus, I prefer Casual

Many people equate "Advanced" to "Big, high effort posts with lots of flowery language." It's a habitual thought I struggle to shake as an RPer with 20+ years of writing experience. It's very draining

Aaahhh, okay. Yeah, that's perfectly fine with me~ =3
Yeah, I am perfectly fine with him being particularly strong. The only restriction I'd really want to put on him at the moment is probably barring the Haki. I get where you're coming from on his character but I would definitely like not having a reliable counter to Logia-type fruits.

He had heard about the presence of a Marine base on this island almost as soon as he'd gotten here. As such he had kept his head down for as much as he could. The last thing he needed was for somebody from the Marines to recognize him before he was ready for it. He needed to round up a crew first. A small group of people that he could fully trust with his secret. Pirates were hardly the reliable type, but it wasn't like he could go to the Marines or just find some random civilians to take him in. Not when he still needed to go looking for those other fruits of his....

Ryu had only recently found himself on Atoll Island. An island with a Marine base was not his most ideal place to start off his search for a pirate crew, but he was starting to run low on his luck of finding sailors willing to grant him passage to another island. There didn't seem to be anybody departing this island for now, though he had been told that trade ships passed through occasionally, or he could alternatively find a way to purchase or trade for a boat...but he didn't really have the resources for that right now. So, he had decided to use his time here wisely and look for a potential partner in crime. After all...Pirates were very well-known for being able to keep away from the Marines.

And luckily, the Marines didn't have a photo of him yet, so he did not yet have a Wanted Poster. All he had to do was be careful with his Devil's Fruit power and he should be fine for now.

At that moment, a loud crash burst through the air and the door to the bar in front of him suddenly exploded, caused by a man having gotten thrown through the door, only to crash into the ground. He was followed by a man easily twice his size. Ryu couldn't help but stop and observe from where he was. It didn't take a genius to figure out that the big guys were pirates. And apparently the smaller one had hurt one somehow. However, he couldn't help but mentally berate the blonde man for intentionally riling up the pirates. Was he stupid? What if-?

Too late!

Down came the sword in a flash, ready to cleave the smaller man in two. Ryu instinctively moved toward the fight to intervene, but paused when he realized that the smaller man was also moving. A moment later, a much smaller sword had been brought out and the captain's sword had been blocked. What followed was apparently a rather one-sided fight. The loner had managed to block every attack coming his way and blow away the pirates with well-aimed and well-timed attacks. Perhaps there was no need to intervene after all?

"Bah, forget this. Just rush him! Show him what it means to make a fool out of the Marvolo Pirates!" a voice shouted from nearby. But then, it was quietly followed by, "Morty, you take care of him while he's busy," in a voice Ryu had only just managed to pick up. He turned his attention to the source of the voice, and identified who it was. A smaller, more portly man was pulling out a flintlock pistol while a taller, lankier one had pulled out a blade of his own. The lankier man, as well as the other members of the group, began rushing at the lone male, ready to slash him to ribbons. But even if they didn't manage, they had the portly man, ready to fire off a deadly shot the moment Mitsuki left an opening....

"I don't think so," Ryu growled under his breath. He didn't have much of a choice. He didn't know exactly what was going on, but he wasn't about to let these guys take advantage of their numbers and end the fight in the confusion with a bullet. He quickly rushed into action, stepping forward and aiming himself for the man in the back who was still readying his flintlock. He held his right arm out to the side. "Dragon...Claw!" he growled. As he did so, the arm began to transform itself, soon turning into what resembled a rather large, crimson claw. The portly man saw the motion and turned to face him, but was too late. He brought his claw up and slammed it mightily against the man's face, slamming him down into the floor, shattering the wooden floorboards of the porch he had still been standing on.

This sudden slam created a loud noise that echoed through the streets, causing the entire crew to pause and turn to look at what was going on. Ryu, suddenly aware of the attention, quickly tried to reform his claw back into his normal human hand, hoping that none of them had gotten a clear view of what had just transpired. His attack had left the short man unconscious...hopefully he wouldn't have a claw-shaped bruise. But for a moment, he feared that he might have overdone things a little....

Ryu turned around once his claw had been turned back into his normal human hand and he looked at the group of pirates and the loner...though he didn't yet say anything, as he wanted to see their reactions...and what they all saw.
Name: Ryu Saitou

Age: 18, almost 19

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Personality: Ryu is a rather reserved individual. He keeps mostly to himself, preferring to spend his downtime reading and learning as much as he can about humans, since he had been away from human civilization for ten whole years. As such, he has developed a fondness for reading and learning new things. He almost always has a book on him that he can read through when he has down time. However, he is still more than willing to cooperate and communicate effectively with crewmates. However, he does still try to keep his past and powers secret. He is most afraid of somebody finding out that he's in possession of a sacred dragon fruit that the Marines would pay high-dollar for and that he would be immediately detained and handed over again. He also fears what will happen if people discover that he is from a World Noble family, as he has discovered what the outside world thinks of the Tenryuubito.

Due to his upbringing during those critical stages of development, he has discovered a very strong moral compass and appreciation for life. He does not enjoy seeing lives end, no matter how insignificant it may seem. In his mind, there are only two times when it is okay to kill another life form: for sustenance or to protect other life. He has also decided that, if he is going to live with humans again, he will do it saving life if he can do so. He was raised to respect life and was taught medical knowledge by the one who raised him. And he has decided that he will NOT let that go to waste.

Devil Fruit: Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Fire (Draco-Draco Fruit, Legendary Zoan Type)

Ryu is a Dragon Human, wielder of the Fire Dragon Fruit, one of six Dragon Fruits in the world (each of a different elemental focus). However, it is very untrained. He currently only possesses one main ability:

Partial Transformation

Ryu has developed the ability to transform any part of his body into full dragon form that he wants. However, only one part of his body can be transformed at any one time, and it requires effort to maintain that transformation for any extended periods of time. For example, he can turn a hand into a claw or his back into dragon wings, but not both at the same time.

It is worth noting, however, that in the transformed state, his scales function similar to body armor that does not weigh him down. The exceptions are the scales on the bottom of his jaw, the front of his neck and torso and down to his bottom of his tail. These scales are much softer and will not protect him any more than human clothing.

The following are abilities/powers that he cannot yet utilize, but will probably learn in the future:

  • The ability to completely transform into the two basic Zoan-type forms: Dragon, and Dragon Man hybrid.
  • The ability to fly. Whether it's a limitation of the Devil's Fruit itself or there is something that Ryu just isn't understanding about dragon wings, he is incapable of using those wings to fly. Even in his full dragon form, he is unable to keep himself in the air, let alone carry anything in that form. He will likely only be able to attain this ability if he can ever find another sentient dragon willing to teach him how. He may learn how to fly as he practices, but he will never be able to learn more than flying the length of a football field in his hybrid form (doubled in his pure dragon form) by practicing on his own or learning from a non-dragon.
  • The ability to breathe fire. One of the most well-known of dragon abilities, fire breathing, is impossible for him at this point in time. He knows from his days spent on the Island of Dragons that Fire Dragons are able to breathe a more powerful flame than any other dragon type. However, he cannot as of yet even breath a puff of smoke. He knows, though, that hatchlings cannot breathe flames either, so he figures that this ability may simply come to him in time.

It is also worth noting that his pure dragon form is where he can exert the most physical strength, but his hybrid form has the greatest speed.
Gotcha~ =3 I'll get something up there myself. Also, perhaps for clarification's sake for anybody curious to read out little thread here, maybe you should add One Piece to the title.

Also is it possible for you to make me Co-GM? I've never made a thread before outside of the OOC/Interest Check sections, so I'm not quite sure how it all works. xD

Anyway, I'll get my character up soon and my post made later. =3
'Tch...I knew it,' Satoru grumbled to himself in his mind when a few Marines revealed their presence to them from the sides by tossing down the nets. 'Shoulda kept my distance like I wanted to.' Had he really wanted to, he probably could have escaped the nets somehow. Especially if he was able to get hold of some kind of sturdy material, like the handles of the pistols that were being carried by one of their crewmates right now. He would be able to coat himself in the material and break himself out. The forest path below wouldn't do because it was covered in either dirt or grass: materials he couldn't copy. But if he did that, then he would be giving something away, his Devil's Fruit ability. And it would probably be very beneficial for all of them if he kept the Marines out of the know for now. It could be a good trump card to pull later.

So instead of escaping the net, he instead chose to stay where he was and not even try to avoid them. He looked up at the falling nets, grunting as they fell down upon him and dragged him off of his feet and onto the ground. However, there was a way he could assist his allies from here, regardless of his own captivity. Thanks to his observant nature, he had managed to spot the nets as they came down...and was more than able to pinpoint which trees they'd come from, which he couldn't guarantee that the others knew. Zypha or Lenwood, it didn't matter who heard what he had to say. Anybody who was free to attack could still do something. "Hey Captain," he said, looking to see if Lenwood had been caught or not. However, by the time he'd gotten his words out, Zypha seemed to already be on it. So, he amended his words accordingly. "The nets came from the trees on the opposite side too. Don't forget the ones hidden on that side."

He sounded rather calm, despite being trapped in a net he wouldn't be able to break out of without outside help. That would mainly be because he felt comfortable in letting his companions take care of this. They'd more than proven themselves already, after all.

Of course, if Lenwood had been caught as well, he would add, "...If you can, anyway." Otherwise, he'd remain silent and wait for him to respond.
There we go. A bit lengthy, but I had some catching up to do. xD
Satoru said nothing in response to his captain. He didn't need to, after all. He HAD just gotten his permission to go hunting around and doing what he needed to do. The biggest question, of course, would be...what that would be. He had already created a mental list of various materials he would need on a ship as a medic. From the basic materials like a stethoscope to the lesser-known like medicinal herbs to make his own medications. And of course, he'd need scalpels, disinfectant, vitamins.... Could a town this deserted really provide everything that he needed? He really wasn't sure. But he would never know by simply sitting around and waiting. He shrugged and finally began following his captain and Zypha into the town, though he did intentionally keep his distance from them. It was better for him to observe situations from afar than be right in the center of it, where he would be caught in the middle if something went wrong.

When Lenwood and Zypha had their encounter with the villagers at last, Satoru continued to maintain his distance and observe the situation in silence. He couldn't help but smirk slightly, though, when he watched Lenwood pass the responsibility for the situation to Zypha instead of handling it himself. Thankfully, she seemed to be able to handle it just fine, so there was no need for him to intervene just yet. Finally, the situation diffused and the villagers slowly came back out into the streets, explaining the situation. Now that he could tell that everything was going to be fine for now, he decided that he could approach his crewmates and show them that he'd been with them the whole time.

But as he began to walk, he couldn't help but scowl slightly. The story that the villagers told bothered him. Apparently, the Marines stationed here were bullying the villagers and taking advantage of their strength. What miserable excuses for the driving force of justice on the seas. But, he supposed it was comforting in one way: He had just acquired proof positive that his suspicions about the Marines and their methods were indeed accurate. There were apparently plenty of marines that were not as great and just as their banner and name would imply. And that eased the slight doubts he had been having the last couple of days about his decision to join a pirate crew.

Satoru made a mental note to send another note out as they were going to leave the island, see if there were any kind of carrier birds around here that could get messages out across the Grand Line. If he could get word of this to his family back on his home island, they would probably be able to do something about it if necessary. His family consisted of proper Marines, after all.

Though at the rate Lenwood was going, there might not be any disciplining left to do by then.

"Right behind you," Satoru said, finally catching up to his captain and crewmate, hands in his pockets. "I heard the whole thing. And if you want my two cents, I agree with Zyph. They appeared to be telling the truth to me. Or at least, I don't see much reason to doubt them yet. Plus...I already had a feeling that there were Marine bases that did that. So this would mostly confirm my suspicions about them." He then chuckled slightly at that. "Though I suppose that that might make me biased and I just want their words to be the truth."

He then paused for a moment, deciding to change the subject. "But are you really planning on taking this place on? I should probably tell you then, that if this island does have a Marine base established here, it probably isn't a big one. Judging on the size of the island and the apparent population, I'd say that it's probably a rather small base, relatively speaking. The only real threat likely to be present that we should be particularly worried about is whoever Captains the base. Possibly whoever is directly under them too. Some Commanders are rather strong themselves." He then looked over at Lenwood again. "I just want to warn you. Don't underestimate a Captain of the Marines. They're the sixth-highest rank in the Marines, with only Commodores being between them and the Admiral ranks. They don't often get their positions unless they've got the strength to back it up."
It's cool. =3 I'm starting to feel better now. I'm gonna go ahead and read over the posts and make one myself right now~

Thankfully, Satoru's pretty easy to get away with that. xD All I have to do is say he was staying quiet and observant~ xD
@Digizel

Please try to keep up the pace. I can understand if you're unable to post once a day, but try not to fall behind.

You haven't posted in a good while.

Yeah, I know. I'm very sorry about that. I thought I would get better in a day or so, but it only got worse, and I ended up dehydrated for a while.

But...I think I should be somewhat okay now. I'll try to make...something at least somewhat soon.
