African Congo, Odzala National Park

The hot wings of a slicked back aircraft cut through the hot African air as it soared over the green mat of forest. Rolling over gentle hills a vast jungle spanned in all directions for as far as the eye could see. Deep rivers cut through the green jungle below, barely visibly through the heavy vines and leaves that crowned the forest below. A dark world lay below, hidden in its tangled vines and dense under-brush. A land that was suicide to trudge through.

But they were in the air.

The aircraft, a duel-rotor Advanced Osprey from out of the US in the late-war was a sleek, cut back sort of plane. Low angled cuts across its surface gave it a dense, polygonal structure. The heavy rotors at its side spun and burned with electric force, hacking at the dense humid air with mutilating speed and pushing them forward as each of the flanking rotors hung pushed forward, running parallel to the ground that the great black comet streaked over.

The windshield of the craft was almost invisible against the sleek black carbon-body form. Under its nose hung a bulbous camera fitting that spun, scanning the thick green forest below as it continued its route onward. A number of weapons ports were embedded into the gun-ship's side, tucked in sunken portholes. Invisible.

The new Osprey though wasn't as dark as the jungle was green though. As sure as Odzala National Park was a checkerboard of environments so was the Vertical Take Off craft. Though, many might consider it some kind of vandalism, it was still within the accepted company plan. Though it made many officers cringe all the same.

Drawn across the nose in big blocky white text were the words, “Love and dominate”. The same phrase was repeated in French just below it.

The tail of the helicopter was equally painted over. On the fins of the rear tail assembly bore – on both sides – the image of a white pony. Reclining on red pillows the snow-white equine lay posed as if in some manner of burlesque parody of a sexy woman. What might pass as the content of a lingerie ad, and where the model was unafraid to show off what she had.

It would have been all, if the subject wasn't holding a pillow in her mouth. As well, a light-pink heart inset with a reversed swastika rested over the side of her ass.

The decal shone in the African sun with a ceramic gloss quality on the outside of both fins. The roar of the engines whisking hot breath past her waiting stare.

Inside, the interior of the aircraft was hardly as warm as it was on the outside. The soft kiss of air-conditioning managed to keep the inside at a cool and crisp twenty-five degrees celsius. The warm yellow of the sun was replaced by a dull red glow. And the sights of a green forest was hidden behind tiny windows, covered over in an assortment of spare gear and first-aid kits.

On the far rear wall assault rifles hung on racks, clean and ready for use. Their owners sitting on benches flanking a pair of sealed doors on either side. From the cockpit emanated a soft blue light from the flight consoles. A weakened sun pouring through the tinted cockpit glass before loosing itself in the computer glow on the pilot's laps.

“A'ight, yer mugs,” one of the pilots yelled back through his coms to the waiting team in the back. His voice thick with an Australian accent, “We're coming up on tha Gabon border. I'ffin ya need t' give another brief cap', I'd do it now.”

A man looked from the back, seeming to hesitate as he ran through the words. But as they sunk in not a few seconds later his expression lit up, and he jumped to his feet in the middle of the cabin.

He was a tall man by his nature, fit well. His face looked to be something that could have been excused for a Hollywood facial job, if the only thing that was changed about it was his tan or his hair; noticeable even in the red glow of the interior cabin lighting. Sharp angled nose, broad chin, strong brow, and bright blue eyes. As he cleared his throat to speak he slipped his helmet on over his short cut, douche-bag California dyed blue hair. His helmet bearing some light modification in the form of a orange pony plush with blue hair, secured on with heavy black zip-ties. White marker proclaimed his nickname to be “Flash Sentry”.

“Alright!” he said enthusiastically, clapping his hands together. “Welcome to Air Sentry.” he cheered above the noise of the rocketing Osprey. He had no fear in holding back his enthusiasm in his face. He was practically jumping on his heels with it, “Today's mission is the neutralization of some cunts Kinshasha has said need to go.

“Now we've observed our suspected targets between here and Gabon, which intelligence suggests our targets are using as an operational base for when shit gets to rough for their tender asses to take in this northern part of the Congo.

“Our run is merely going to run as interception against a patrol suspected to be a part of the Mboko group of the Lingala people who had the reason to start a civil war up here when they decided they didn't like their neighbor's cattle. As we believe the responsible army has fled to Gabon to escape and continue beating each other with clubs, but we're going in to get them out.

“Command wants us to get what prisoners we can to bring them back for interrogation. So that is our objective men. Today's wonderful waifu.

“Oh, also. We need to be quick about this. The longer our asses are in Gabon the more danger we put at being found out we're not supposed to be there. I don't think they have any reason of knowing we're there, but the shorter and quicker we can get out, the less we have to worry about Liberville having felt us driving something hot and heavy deep up their ass, and the less pain means the less pain for us.”

“Captain Flash, sir,” a younger soldier said, leaning against the hull of the osprey as it pressed its throttle ever heavier to Gabon. He was dressed over fully in his equipment, helmet on tight, and darkened goggles obscured most of his face. But he was clean, perhaps hardly old enough for a full beard, “What's the ground plan looking like if we do find them?"

"What do you think, Vinyl!" Sentry shouted, laughing and pointed to the window, "Have yo looked outside."

"Last I checked we were in Savannah, sir. That's before we loaded up the windows with our shit. No offense, but I got no damn view!"

"Then I hope you look good, hard wood when we manage to get down there." smirked a larger soldier. A heavy reinforced suit of armor clad him over. Bulky servos built into the legs and arms no doubt helped him move. Scars and burn marks ran a pattern work like a children's puzzle across his bald scalp, and his lips stretched thin across his broad cheeks as he grinned.

The Oculi wouldn't like any kind of dictatorship and would violently oppose it. And I realize most of those countries are democracies now, but I'm assuming that the world of pre-WW3 is more ridden with dictators, possessing a more dystopic feel. That's where the idea of France and Italy being taken over by tyrants came from in my background.

I hope you mean post. "Pre" means before.
Because Duck asked me to:

TehAlphaGamer, I hope you know that the Belgians are one of your least German subjects? On the scale of "German" they're about as German as the French, which puts them at "Least happy by nationalist standards" after the Polish and Slovaks.

And the Dutch don't have good memories of the Germans (as does apply to the Poles, Czechs, and Belgians).

Just so you know nobody will love the Kaiser.
When a bomb blows up, there's no residual value returned to the society. And with that single bomb, several tens of thousands of dollars went up in flames.

And when you set off as many bombs as would be set off in such a long-as-fuck war... well suddenly no one has the financial strength to do anything. So welcome to the newest in the Great Global Depression. Possibly the worse.

You also got the 3D printing question in and the rape to jobs in modern economies.
Name of Nation: le Armie sans Frontiers
Territories: Less a nation and more an organization Armie sans Frontiers doesn't “own” any land. Though the organization has operations across much of central Africa where the bulk of its forces are resources are drawn into.
Government Type: Corporate
Military: Infantry, rapid troop deployment in helicopters. Minor naval capability, largely brown or gree water. Utilizes up-to-date arms manufactured predominately by its associates.
Economy: Income is generated through the contractual obligations with its host nations. Though a sum is also attributed to the manufacture of military gear through its associate branches and the laundering of money gained through in-field operations or the dual ownership of mines across central Africa.
Foreign Policy: formal neutrality
History: The degeneration of international relations in the 2020's marked the weakening of the power and capability of the UN to legislate and enforce international law. Law which broke at the onset of the third world war in 2025. Of the failing of international, multilateral law came the breaking of what little restrictions could be put on mercenaries, or PMC/PMF's. The issue was additionally compounded by the failure of Interpol at the collapse of the UN assembly and the closure of its headquarters in New York a year before the war began.

The fall of these groups allowed for the practical free reign of a number of groups to engage in a number of activities without fear of multinational efforts to arrest them, or there being any body in assisting the capture of criminal elements, rebel brigades, or anything two or more national security operations would require coordination with for their arrest and trial.

The failure of the world of international law was taken note by then thirty-six Pierre Lofaine. The ex-GIGN operative had racked up many years of service experience in the French military and a special forces career including the final years of the First Ivorian Civil War (2005-2007), the Chadian Civil War (2009-2010), the Second Ivorian Civil War (2010-2011), and the rotating tours between French military efforts in the Chadian Civil War and the Central African Republic crisis.

Pierre was set to retire from the military world and enter finance when the idea of running a PMC company was offered to him in 2022.

The proto-company, the International Democracy Army was established in 2023 with a little over a hundred staff members running private security for French business owners and their interests in central Africa. However by the onset of the Third World War in 2025 came an explosion of uncertainty, and of opportunity.

The IDA was initially recruited by the French government for logistical support in the CAR and the Congo to combat explosive Chinese agitation on the African continent. The contract offered an enormous pay, and over a year Pierre and his associates doubled then triples their staff numbers, recruiting from local Congolese and international veterans without prejudice. By the end of their contract with the French government in 2027 the IDA had over twenty-times their original number.

By mid-war, the full effect on the lack of legal oversight for PMCs was reeling its head and the full extent of their ability was becoming fully realized. On top of it, the length of the war proved taxing on many world powers. The inflation that spiked over the course of the war as fueled by the massive expenses pumped into operation taxed the belligerents heavily. So much so it was becoming an intense affair in simply mobilizing an effective army while controlling the devastating economic collapses at home. As an effect, a heightened number of contracts were handed out to any and all PMCs/PMFs as they were seen as the more cost effective solution to fighting the continuing war. A lack of coverage on dead PMCs also played a major part in swaying public opinion as foreigners without name or nationality fought the battles for them.

The end of a second contract with the French government saw the IDF shifting loyalties shifting with the German government offering a massive paycheck for their campaigns within Central Europe. With no other contract higher Pierre took the deal and the ten-thousand strong IDF pursued the German will in Poland.

Of course, by this year of 2031 the size and now image of the IDF had shifted and they were in need for a change of image. Pierre – with his board of directors – opted for a formal brand change. Rebranding themselves from the IDF to the ASF; le Armie sans Frontiers, an Army without Borders.

The amount of financial strength they were able to make coupled with the during-war economic crash cheapened the price on surplus tools and desperate manufacturers were searching for more contracts of their own and were eager to devalue their goods on the simple hope to keep in the black. The inflation had taken root, and the war wasn't anywhere near finished, for what finish that was.

The ASF was capable of rearming itself with the top-of-the-line military surplus developed and mobilized during the war. Elevating it from a mere auxilary army to something more on par of a main-line army with the acquisition of a large number of drones, robots, troop carriers and support aircraft, and targeting computers. Their ranks continued to swell as they took on multiple contracts, fed now in turn by the economically desperate European and Asian citizens.

By war's end, the economic toll was great and to some degree its merits questioned. The capabilities of large military forces looked to have taken a hit as the force of financial support they needed became evident in its self-destructive nature. In a sense, private armies looked to be the best option with ASF standing out, with more field experience than any other to last, and the heaviest presence across any and all fronts in the war.

The war had also changed the face of ASF and the former IDF was largely forgotten in the winding behemoth of ASF. Equipped to par like any other western nation, its hunger for use had not died. And the need for an army and a police-force post-war was high. Especially in the economically disenfranchised nations of the world.

The ASF took a thirty-year contract as the major provider of military and public security in the African Congo, CAR, Angola, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Ghana, and Cote d'Ivoire. Contracts have also been extended to Paraquay to handle the police functions of the city's top five cities and Malaysia and Brunei.

Through the ASF these states are capable of organizing international crime-fighting efforts as well as pooling their efforts to stomping out lingering rebels and keeping stability. For the nations, ASF itself remains directly out of their national politics, though the private holders and upper-rank officers within the ASF have indirectly extended their company's reach through the ownership of their own private companies outside of, and in orbit of ASF. Through a shared pool of their war-time bonuses they have made the purchase of vast coltan and gold mines of the Congo, oil wealth, and arms and equipment manufacture that serves not only themselves but other PMCs/PMFs.

And the lack of international oversight and law regulating their actions has been a proven bonus.

Other: I'd hazard that half this app isn't necessary, Duck.
So it should be post-finals, and it's certainly post-Season 4 now. Where's our OP?

Ah, I did not know that. I'll need more specific information, though: Where in Canada are they housed, for example? As for how Canada became communist, I'll work on that. It'd be incredibly easy if China steps in - The Chinese offer aid in defeating the militant nationalists in exchange for Canada going Communist (And probably another favor). In the mean time, though, I'll work on that detail as soon as I have time. Thanks for bringing it up!

A thing to note about the Chinese government is that they don't budge easy. For the better part of the about twenty years their program of foreign intervention has only been centered at keeping Western powers out of Asia. The membership of the US and Mexico during the era of the ASB wasn't made on an invite.

Though, now that the ASB has evolved into the Comintern and the US left, there is a hole left open in the North American Bloc of the Third International. Mexico is still around, and would be interested to trying to get leverage against a US in another new era of its politics. Though they're not as powerful as the Chinese and incapable of influencing anyone on their own I would think that maybe they'd try to assist. Perhaps in partnership with the US Socialist/Communist parties in tipping the balance in Canada.

The Chinese intelligence agency - the IB - would without a doubt need to provide assistance. But it wouldn't be as direct as shooting resources off to Canada or sending their agents directly. I'd see it more as the Mexican Intel community appealing to another for help in a sort of lite version of Operation Ajax.
I spoke with Gorgen and he doesn't have issue with the thought of Canada going Communist. But his issue with this version his issue is how and why it became Communist.

To quote:
gorgenmast: I honestly would be okay with it if it made any sense
gorgenmast: but the app was basically "we have problems here in canada so we're gommunism now"

I'm sure you could find a different way, keeping in mind that we explain the Canadian militancy with it picking up psuedo-nationalists/psuedo-Fascist sorts from anarchy-period Great Britain. So you would need to work around that and their failures in the war, among other issues if not just that.
I will direct you to the lore summaries:

The Philippines are in the Chinese sphere as a member of the Comintern. Though there have been a few things that would make them bitter (particularly the assassination of the rebel leader and self-proclaimed Pope) the Philippines do largely rely on the Chinese for their defense in the region against Imperial Japan and to keep a policing effort in the rather ruinous southern island of Mindanao.
