@FernStone What did you expect. My main home these days is the Arena, not the advanced RP subforum. My expertise is in the fine art of bloodshed, not negotiations and politics.
Needs less draggy stuff, more action. Less confusing stories. Clearer writing.

Give me a place to go and people to kill in this next episode and we're golden.
@Doc Doctor His ice ring slowly stopped glowing as the magics within recharged.

The barbarian's right shot up to meet his sword arm. Instead of chopping straight down as he had planned, he opted for something more unorthodox.

He diverted his entire sword arm to his left, avoiding the man's outstretched grabby hand entirely as he shifted his sword downward. He widened his stance as his sword went past his shield, down past his waist.

With a step back, he pulled slightly free of the barbarian's grip on his shield, as well as diverting his sword into the path of his oncoming knee attack.

His blade would greet the incoming leg just beneath the knee, the force behind the swing not enough to sever it, but enough to cut deeply.
So...

Kurtz will be working loosely with Maharet to track down the her enemies, and both will quietly be working to bring down the Bloodbloom Syndicate, which is very dΓ©classΓ© and not the sort of organization respectable monsters people would associate with. If we want to make this intersect with any ongoing plotlines or anyone wants in on the action, I'm happy to collaborate!

As I mentioned in my last post, the Firm needs a necromancer for a contract job, if that's of interest to anyone as as a potential plot-intersection device.

I've got two zombies that have worked for Bloodbloom before, does that count?
@Doc Doctor As soon he felt the barbarian grab his shield, he knew he'd made a mistake. But it could turn out in his favour.

Once the barbarian started pulling his shield out of the way, he used his thumb and gently rubbed the sapphire ring on his index finger. Immediately the gem began to glow as the ice magic within gathered strength. A second later, his fist aimed at the barbarian in passing, the ring would fire a burst of extremely cold ice magics at his opponent. It would feel like the fluids in his flesh and blood were freezing if the frost blast connected.

And as he ignited his magic ring, he raised his sword arm above his head and cut down diagonally to his left (Gonad's right).
Oh okay.
@Doc DoctorThat's still what I meant though. My move was to divert the strike to his shield no matter what it was. That's why I lifted the shield, so the aforementioned grab to the edge wouldn't happen.

Also quite vague as to how exactly he's striking and then grabbing onto the shield. I can't visualise it.
@Doc DoctorHow did you grab the edge of his shield when he lifted it specifically to counter that move?

Your move is a straight right handed punch, yes? If so, then my move was to move to your left and twist at the same time, using the raised shield to counter the attack and divert force away. But you've gone and made that move null and void unless you've got a good explanation.
@Doc Doctor

King Gallant allowed himself a step backward to compensate for the charging barbarian. His arm was cocked back for a punch. Or was it a grab? He was unsure. All that he knew was that he couldn't let any of those attacks connect directly with him.

He halted in his backward retreat and stood firm as the barbarian approached. As that meaty right mitt came in towards him, he sidestepped to the left (Gonad's right) and raised his shield so the incoming forearm strike met it square in the center. A loud crash issued forth as flesh met carefully crafted wood and iron.

The King twisted his body to the right (Gonad's left) slightly to allow that strike to pass on by, while simultaneously bringing his sword to bear. His right arm went low, just underneath his shield, while he took step forward to get inside the barbarian's guard. His wrist angled upward and he pushed, stabbing his sword at Gonad's torso. His sword was aimed just below the warrior's massive pectoral muscles.

Impossible to dodge? Maybe not. He expected the barbarian to. He was like no other ruffian warrior he'd faced before.
@Doc Doctor

"Always ready."

The King readied himself as the barbarian charged at him. Strange how smooth he seemed to run, but barbarians were barbarians; ruffians through and through. Guzman expected no less.

With feet spread shoulder width apart, he advanced slow and steady, one foot after the other. He held his shield in front of him, right in his middle, sword low and loose, ready for a confrontation.

The charging mass of muscle was fast, he gave him that. But did he have a head full of smarts to compliment that?

He'd have to see.
