It's anything but firearms. Also, I'll try to make the thread tomorrow. Haven't been getting around to it due to playing too much GTA.

I... I don't...
@Devil

I know gun-like attacks can be simulated, which is why I'll be making sure such things are not abused. I don't want a meta arms race, I want a fair tournament. Anyone more than half a brain and a character with a gun, an implement that is more or less a death pointer, will know how to draw a bead on a moving target.

One of my favorite characters uses a gun, and I feel like cheap trash every time I win with him.

There will be equality, not perfect equality, but equality nonetheless. I want to see skill at work, not raw power.

Reason?

<Snipped quote by Doc Doctor>

What does that even imply?

Because guns wouldn't be exactly fair unless you can tank or dodge bullets, and if you could guns would be useless to begin with.

And by balanced, I mean each fighter should have a solid chance of winning. I don't want to see a supersonic golem made from titanium stomping down a half naked lady whose best trick is just kicking really high.

@sassy1085

Of course, though I haven't even made the thread yet!
@Goblinesque

Think Dark Tournament Yusuke, before Genkai's death. Also, I may take longer than a day or two to get things started. I'm too dog tired from work to make the thread tonight.

@Divinity

No reality warping.

Destructive capacity cannot exceed the energy required to destroy half of the ring.

Weapons are allowed, but only medieval shit, so no machine guns.

No jack of all trades Mary Sues. Each character should have a specialty, as well as sensible flaws. I won't be fighting in the tournament myself, rather, I'll be a referee and the one who makes sure there is a balanced roster.
@Goblinesque

It is, I'll probably make the thread later today.
@Aphotic Templar

Here it is! I had to modify the character a bit to make him more of a challenge. Hopefully Suliss will be in the same ballpark as Mr. Bone Dust.

@Aphotic Templar

LeeRoy is going to be too busy IRL to fight for a little while, so I'll fill in for the guy. Have my sheet up in a bit.
@LeeRoy

Aw man Lee, you beat me to the mark. I was thinking this character could be the first to power through Donny's sneak attacks. A high fantasy knight of death against the perfect modern killer.

Perhaps after you fight him, I can have a shot. No pun intended.
First off, yes, I know that threads like this belong in interest checks. Hardly anyone looks there though, so I'm plopping this sucker down right here.

The Kumite Tournament. A vast competition with its own storyline, similar to such classic shit as the Tenkaichi Budokai from Dragon Ball, the Dark Tournament from Yu Yu Hakusho, and of course the movie Bloodsport.

The participants would be about mid-high tier, strong enough to regularly cause some nice destruction to the ring stone and perhaps even the audience on occasion.
Ideally, at least ten fighters would be nice, though I'd like to see more than twice that. Perhaps if we can't get that many fighters, we can allow each player to use two characters of a similar tier. To keep things interesting for everyone, we'll have several fights at once on different threads and those not fighting will be able to play as referee characters, to do the ol' ten counts (including an out of bounds ten count) and to from an OOC'ly perspective, keep the roleplayers on the right track to avoid arguments and declare a winner.

Now, here's where the plan gets a little iffy. I'm entertaining the thought of posting the Kumite Tournament in the Casual section, where there are many more roleplayers that would see and join, but I'd keep the link to that thread on this one so you all can quickly navigate to the tournament. In effect, an activity that would connect the Arena with Casual, perhaps generating some interest in our little niche here.

Well, whatcha think? Any suggestions?
