"Good heavens, what a welcome!" Marcelin exclaimed in surprise as soon as the shorts were fired towards the group. Without wasting time, he acted to counter the salvo of bullets. "Let me rewrite your poor prose, Mana Bolt!" And, scribing with his catalyst quill on the air in front of him, he fired a magical salvo of his own thrice against them.

2. **Summary of the Roleplay**
- The RP opened at the Grand Induction Hall of the Ethereal Luminary, where Proctor Roffimières welcomed new candidates to the entrance examination. The candidates were sorted into trios by magical bracelets, with Ichabod, Sa’Saori, and Alicia forming Group Magenta, accompanied by veteran student Adelhein El-Melloi von Breyer, the Iron Magus.

The group was transported into the Astral Vestibule, a magical pocket-dimension exam space. Their first challenge, the Hall of Refractions, was an illusion-based puzzle involving mirrors, hidden sigils, and a floating prism. Through observation, gravity magic, and experimentation, they aligned the prism’s light and opened the path forward.

The second chamber was a dueling arena guarded by four magical constructs. Sa’Saori engaged them with fire magic and blade work while Alicia analyzed and disrupted the arena’s pylons, weakening the constructs’ support systems. Their combined actions broke the guardians’ formation and completed the combat trial.

Afterward, Group Magenta was returned to the Grand Induction Hall, where only a few other groups had made it back. Roffimières confirmed their success and welcomed them into the Ethereal Luminary.

The second fireball struck at the heart of the formation, and this time the arena’s rhythm broke.

Flame rolled across the central ring, washing over the three guardians caught within its reach. Guardian Two’s ward flashed once, twice, then fractured into fading lines of light. Guardian One staggered under the blast, its lacquered frame glowing red at the joints, while Guardian Three’s stance faltered just long enough for the formation to lose its perfect symmetry.

At the same time, Alicia’s interference struck the pylon at the peak of its pulse.

The crystal crown flared violently. Mana surged backward through the floor channels, racing along the dueling rings in sharp, irregular bursts. The shimmer around the guardians collapsed all at once. Guardian Four, already turning toward Alicia, was caught by the sudden reversal of gravity and hurled back across the outer lane, striking the arena floor in a hard skid of sparks and ringing metal.

For a breath, the constructs attempted to correct themselves.

Then the chamber decided.

“Evaluation complete. Cohort Magenta: successful.”

The guardians froze in place. Their blades dissolved into motes of pale light, and their runes dimmed to a dormant glow. The arena floor brightened beneath the group, and the world folded around them with the same gentle precision that had brought them into the Vestibule.

When sight returned, they stood once more within the Grand Induction Hall.

The chamber was quieter than before. Only a handful of colored cohorts had already returned, their members standing in scattered groups beneath the turning crystal array. Several colors remained absent.

Proctor Roffimières stood at the center of the hall, his floating tome open beside him. His expression remained composed, though his gaze lingered on Magenta’s bracelets for a moment longer than necessary.

“Cohort Magenta,” he said clearly, “you have completed the entrance examination.”

The crystal above released a soft shower of star-like light.

“Welcome to the Ethereal Luminary.”
“One down, but..." The lawman narrowed his eyes as the swarm apparently did not relent. In fact, they appeared to charge at them with renewed strength and numbers. He clicked his tongue. “We need to help that one that rushed inside!" It felt obvious that it was the priority. “Can't ya tell one of 'your girls' to move to her position?" Richard asked Nyana, looking for a moment at the blushing priestess who kept coddling on his arm.

The sheriff would then start to aim, trying to get a good shot against any of the creatures that might be overpowering Astra [1]. And, if finding it so, he would pull the hammer of his revolver before pressing the trigger [2]. He would then repeat the process once more, firing a second time at the creature [3].

Actions:
1 - Aim at one of the creatures overpowering Astra (or any other if not possible due to positioning)
2 - Basic Ranged Attack 5 Base Effectiveness
3 - Basic Ranged Attack +1
"Most certainly! Those are the details I embellish!" Marcelin promptly answered Kain as he began plucking an unseen string, thinking how much a lira would add to his performance, and continued his verses.

"A snack the shapeshifting creatures wanted,
Thinking that, in hunger, it was warranted.
Yet golden prey became their fall,
For magic answered fang and call.
Those alluring scales of radiant gold,
Left them ruined, claimed by mold!"

"“Let us see what awaits us behind that door, and my brave companions shall promptly deal with it in the most decisive and narratively satisfying manner!"
"Of course, my fair lady! We only enjoy full assurance of our survival all thanks to your magical might! I can only count myself fortunate thanks to your illustrious presence among us!" Marcelin declared as Clarisse assured their safety in his usual rambunctious tone. His mouth formed an almost theatrical 'O' as the wall began to move.

"Huzzah! The path ahead is revealed to us, and whatever 'guardian' skulks about at the end of this floor clearly has its days numbered!" The storyteller said while opening his arms wide. And seeing how Kain simply rushed ahead without any instinct of self-preservation, he couldn't help but smile.

"Brave god Kain rushed ahead,
Clearly, without an inch of dread,
Whatever lay in wait would not suffice,
For he, himself, was quite a surprise,
Let lurking horrors curse the skies,
For valor walks where caution dies!"

“HWHAT?!” McCoy blurted out in his thick Southern drawl as those pointed-eared, unnerving-looking ‘girls’ began reaching for him. His mustache began twitching as he frowned, even more as some dispute about him seemed to arise. It was one of the rare occasions he was caught off guard, and his expression was one of confusion. “I beg your pardon, ma'am, but that ain’t somethin’ you go deciding by your lonesome, you know?” He said while getting into position in the third rank. “Plus, we gotta to deal with whatever those are first.” His chin tilted towards the direction of the first shapes coming out of the fissure.

As soon as he got a decent line of sight of one of them, the lawman brought up his revolver, aiming at it [1], before pulling the trigger twice [2-3]. The thunderous sound was followed by the flash of the six-shooter’s muzzle and the smell of gunpowder.

“Most certainly that is the fitting end for them.” Agreeing with the notion that those creatures are better destroyed, Marcelin skipped forward, bending over to pick up the smaller core from the book mimic. He would bring it up and hold it against the light of the torch in his hand. “Mmmm… curious, so this is all they are about in the end.” The storyteller threw it in the air, grabbing it as soon as it started to make its descent. “Maybe some little bauble can be made out of it.” He secured it inside a small coin pouch at his waist.

From there, he began walking back to the pillar he had first examined, looking at the buttons. Now that they were out of immediate danger, perhaps it would be good to figure them out. “Well… we were assigned to clear the first floor. Would be less than optimal if our job here were shoddy and rushed. It could very well damage your fine reputation and besmirch this wondrous tale, yes, yes?” He added, while elbowing one of the wooden buttons.
"The nerve on some creatures!" Marcelin grumbled as the Book mimic tried to get a slurp of Clarrise and was deftly defeated. "Although I feel like the story value of this room has already been spent." The storyteller crosses his arms, tapping one biceps with his index finger while wondering about something.
"Well then, time for an encore!" He says as he readies his magic once more.

Forests were certainly not a landscape that McCoy was used to, having lived in the arid desert for all his life, but he wasn’t fully ignorant of it. The lawman was kneeling beside a tree, searching for something of which he wasn’t fully aware when the message came directly into his mind. His expression hardened even further; smoke from his last rolled-up cigarette left the corner of his lips. Raising to his feet, he began following the source of the voice.

When he reached the waterfront, filled with warehouses showing cracks in their walls, his eyes widened slightly. “What the hell happened here?” He had no one to ask about it, but he spent a moment longer investigating the surroundings, looking for clues to what had happened. “An earthquake, huh?” He muttered under his breath as he kept following the source of the voice.

Each step he took down the stairs was followed by the sound of his boots hitting the floor and the clinking of the spurs. McCoy could barely reach the bottom of the stairs when he saw a blur disappearing as it appeared. “Heh, strange things happenin’ ‘round here. But I guess it is the norm.” A humorless chuckle left his lips.

There was already a gathered bunch, too many women, or, better said, girls with pointed ears. The whole situation made him even more cautious. “I hope the ‘help’ isn’t you needin’ a babysitter or somethin’ to look after them.” He motioned with his chin towards the group, taking another long drag of his cigarette.

“So you are needin’ us to hold whatever is comin’ through that there fissure.” The lawman threw his cigarette towards the ground, stepping on it to kill off the flame with a crunch. “And here I thought that the siege of the Alamo was the last place I had to defend after leavin’ the army.” With a deliberate slowness, he took out his six-shooter from the holster with his right hand, tipping his hat upward with his left one. “No question from me, sister.”
