Vaeri read through the trip. It was pretty easy to tell that going along with Shela's tales like she did with Tobias wouldn't be nearly as fun. So if talking wouldn't keep her mind distracted from this supposed fog poofing people away, her books would. The cold response she got from the villagers was nothing new to her. Vaeri reclined in her seat deciding to look over everyone's stuff while the rest of the group did whatever it is they were going to here.

Kazuo didn't seem particularly interested in chatting, or much of anything going on. The expression on his face was so blank, it was hard to tell whether he was asleep or awake. In the back of his head, he kind of wished for the fog to come back. At least that was something interesting. Kazuo would remain in his nearly zen state of boredom until something happened or he was directly addressed.
@The Fated Fallen Perhaps the intro to The Road to El Dorado can help with that.
When Kira awoke, Dick wasn't there, but his walking stick was laying on top of the fur he had slept on the night before, perhaps as a symbol of 'I'll be back, so don't get your knickers in a twist.' In any case, he left the door just shy of being completely closed, so a sliver of dim orange sunlight pierced through the opening.

Dick would return in a bit less than half an hour from when he left, covered up to the knees and elbows in a thin layer of black mud, carrying an arm load of miscellaneous herbs, nuts and fruit looking things that seemed to blur together.

"I didn't want to look through your stuff, so I went out to find some breakfast." Dick said, an ear-to-ear grin on his face.
Wait... Wasn't magic basically outlawed and viewed with massive suspicion...

Surely someone might have a go at the floating halfling? You can argue it isn't magic all day long but I can bet the law won't see it that way

Basically yeah.
Kazuo rode beside the wagon, a blank expression on his face. Fom the looks of it, he was zoning out as a way to pass the time and letting Trombe do all the work of walking and keeping up with the rest of the group. Vaeri pulled out one of her books and poured over it in the darkness. Neither of them seemed to have listened to Shela's story.
Soon enough, the pitter of rain surrounded the humble hut from all sides. It began almost too softly to hear, but over the course of an hour increased to a loud, but oddly peaceful drumming. Dick found himself asleep before he knew it.

His dreams where a collection of images shadowy, disconnected and without logic. A river. A peanut flying through the air. A rainbow. Fire. A house. 3 piglets. When Dick awoke, he could barely remember any of these. It was still dark, but the rain had stopped. However, it was chilly and humid, even indoors. If he had to guess, it would probably be a half hour before dawn. The druid looked around the hut, not feeling like getting up just yet.
You can never tell with gnomes. They might all be androids.
Durin interrupted all the conversation with a loud harrumph.

"Now what does killing a dragon have to do with demons running around? I have better things to do with my time than running around with a bunch of vagabonds on a suicide mission." During didn't like the look of much anyone here. Especially the blue-haired kid and the floating halfling. Nobody who's trustworthy dyes their hair unnatural colors or floats around instead of walking. Durin had an honest living in this town, and he wasn't about to give it up at the drop of a hat. Behind him, Kayleth spoke up.

"I'm going to have to agree with Durin here. The only reason I'm letting him not get the rest he should be having is because apparently this group is vital to the survival of Waeldeshore. If that was just a lie to have extra muscle, then you may be doing more harm for the town than good." Kayleth's facial expression remained neutral, but the inflection of her voice carried a slight edge to it. Perhaps more frustration that time she could have spent getting the guardsmen recovered has been spent looking over a grouchy dwarf instead.

Dick spotted the bird watching him and made eye-contact with it, as if challenging it to an impromptu staring contact. He had no idea why that bird seemed to instantly dislike him so much. Perhaps his smell offended? Sometimes people had a strong averse reaction to the moose musk he carried with him. It was something of an unavoidable side effect of transforming into a moose.
Dick reached out to grab the fur, but it quickly slipped through his fingers and ended up on top of his feet, lying in a lump on the floor. He looked at the fur for a moment, not wanting to bend over and pick it up. Instead he spread it out over the floor with only his feet before laying on top of it, belly down, arms folded under his chin. And there he lay, looking at the wall, not saying anything, or making much noise to begin with.
