VERSUS

Riley ignored Viktor’s warning. His rage was fueled by a mixture of a second unmeasured dose of Kobra venom and the pheromones lingering in his blood. He was all brute strength without much thought behind what he was doing. The teen used his hulking body to his advantage, lunging forward at Viktor.

Unfortunate. Fighting Riley was not his intention. He was part of the objective after all, but whatever he had done to himself made him a viable threat to everyone here. A deep roaring sound loosened from the back of Riley's throat and he clasped both his hands together smashing down right where Viktor stood.

Like before, but this time without a sniper rifle in hand, Viktor sidestepped to the right. Riley growled when he failed to hit Viktor by outmaneuvering him. He was fast.

Unlike before, Viktor delivered three body shots to Riley's exposed side. The teen managed to stay on his feet, taking Viktor’s hard blows to his ribs. He was strong too.

Despite stumbling to his right from the swift blows, Riley still desired to prove his strength was superior. He had to be better, he had to be the best. The Kobra venom gave him the edge and he was confident he could find victory. Grabbing the closest desk to him he hurled it at Viktor. The metal desk made a ringing sound, flying straight ahead at a devastating velocity. As impressive as the feat was, Viktor found the rudimentary attack simple to avoid by dropping down into a low crouch

I'll end it now.

As the desk cleared over Viktor, he dashed forward as he intended to continue to fight Riley without the use of any of his weapons for obvious reasons.

Riley roared. It was a distorted and inhuman sound. Having failed to land any attacks on Viktor he was growing more frustrated and frantic. As soon as Viktor was in reach he brought down his fists again. He was aiming at no particular part of his body, and that was his folly in all of this. So much strength, and no way to use it effectively. Viktor weaved beneath the punch lining himself up for a clean back uppercut into Riley's jaw. The punch being strong enough to stun him long enough for Viktor to move around behind him before gripping firmly around Riley's waist. There was no showboating or hesitation... No hatred or relief… and above all else, there was not an ounce of mercy. With a powerful thrust, Viktor suplexed Riley's head and neck backward into the floor.

The critical move proved to be enough to floor Riley after his head was banged against the floor hard enough to chip and crack its surface. Viktor stood up and looked down upon the teen. Proper form. The right amount of force. Good. Viktor was aware how deadly such a move could be, but he counted on Riley's enhanced body being able to take away some of the risk. The force of the impact left the roided teenager in a pile of arms and legs on the floor.

With you out of the way… Viktor looked around at his surroundings. The way he and Kassy found Ja in this room put him on edge. Riley had been a bit of an issue but the woman that was entangled within this entire operation may have been the source of it all. His eyes glanced toward where Kass had escaped with Ja before darting toward the opposite direction, to the room left unexplored. Trap or not, Viktor would proceed, confident in his ability to overcome whatever he'd face ahead.

He pushed the door open and stepped through with his head on a swivel. Initially there was nothing to report but something particularly poked at his senses. That scent… Sweet yet subtle as to draw one closer… Despite his thoughts he continued his entry toward the center of the room. No different than a hunter disguising themselves like their target's prey… anglerfish, venus fly trap, spider-snake… He about faced, looking to where he had entered as he thought he heard something peculiar. He could have followed the sound back to the previous room, but the scent… the scent was…

With a fluid motion, Viktor unsheathed his sword and turned around just in time to set the blade beside the throat of the mysterious woman that had been attempting to escape him.

“Perfume? That's your downfall? Tch.” Viktor was mildly disappointed in her.

The woman took a controlled breath. She stayed calm, despite the blade being very close to her most prized asset. If he was here that meant Riley was defeated. That idiot really couldn’t do anything right. Out of all the teens she enthralled to do her dirty work he was by far the worst. This turn of events severely limited her options and she didn’t like it at all.

“I was hoping it would be you.”. She smirked. Viktor narrowed his eyes at the comment, trying to discern a deeper meaning behind it.

While Viktor pondered this, the woman had her thoughts lingering on what to do next. She had to think carefully about her next move. Viktor was fully suited up, armed and unlike most men wasn’t particularly happy to see her. For her, there was something thrilling about being in actual danger. Before deciding on a plan she'd be patient and feel out the energy between them. The young woman found Viktor difficult to gauge; his body language was stiff and tense and his face was hidden behind a dark tinted visor. Something would need to change about this if she was going to get what she desired.

“You know I smell even better up close….”

With the sword still so close to her face she didn’t dare to move. For now she would make it look like she was surrendering.

“You're not my type, so don't waste your breath. One false move, and I…” The blade slowly rotated so its very edge was staring her in the eyes. “...will guarantee you will be no one's type.” Of course, he didn't really want that. Her capture would be the perfect way to gain intelligence on Kobra's entire operation. Maiming her would only make that process difficult. It was not optimal.

The emerald reflection of her eyes in Viktor’s blade showed a hint of fear. The chill of fear extended to her spine, making her shiver. She knew when to stop talking back to someone. His threat sounded very real and she wasn’t in the position to do much about it. And then there was that. It stung enough to nearly overtake her fear. It had been a long time since she’d been rejected like that.

“What do you want?” Her smirk had dropped. He didn't answer, though he liked her better this way. The facade was torn down and her true face was shown.

He raised his free hand up to his helmet, pressing on the exterior button to communicate with the others upstairs.

“Team. I have the sniper, over.” There was no reply back causing Viktor to sigh. “Team. Rain. I have the female sniper, over.“ His eyes remained affixed to her, but the comms issue was definitely pulling away his attention. The blade of the sword trembled as Viktor's grip tightened around it. “Team! Comms che-“

“LEAVE HER ALONE!” Viktor felt a large hand grip the back of his neck and raise him up. The sword's blade narrowly missed the girl’s nose as it rose up and from her neck. Riley took two steps forward and threw Viktor across the room and into a wall. “I got you babe. Did he hurt you?”

“You moron, he almost hit my FACE!!” She backhanded Riley with a surprising amount of force. He stumped back, both her hand and his cheek were stinging afterwards. Now that she was back in control of the situation, the anger she’d suppressed earlier was spilling out. She was trembling in place, taking shuddered breaths.

“I’ll kill him..” Riley growled in a low voice. At first there was no response from her until Riley started to move towards Viktor.

“No….I have a better idea.”

Riley stopped dead in his tracks and turned back to face her, waiting for her command.

“Hold him down.”

Viktor was starting to recover from the impact of hitting the wall.

Shit He rolled onto his back but before he had the opportunity to recover his weapon that had fallen beside him, Riley was on top of him. Viktor immediately punched him in the gut which both hurt and enraged Riley. With his gills flaring, he swung wildly at Viktor who attempted to block the heavy blows. I just need to withstand this… but his strength… Viktor then felt Riley attempting to take control of his arms. No!

While the two guys struggled to outwin the other, the girl moved in quickly. When an opening was available, she took a deep breath as she raised her leg up high before swinging it down. The girl delivered a devastating axe-kick to Viiktor’s helmet, shattering the tough material of his visor with surprising ease. The shards of visor pierced and cut into his face within. Despite it all, however, he was still fighting against Riley's grip. How could I allow this?! I will not fail here!

Riley was suddenly assaulted by a precise spat in the eyes. As desperate and cheap as the assault was, Viktor took advantage of Riley briefly releasing his arms. A grunt escaped him as he threw a punch at one of Riley's flared gills causing the hulking teen to scream and lean toward the girl. Perfect. With as much strength as he could muster, he thrust his hips upward to send Riley toppling over into her. Riley’s body slammed into her. The mass of muscles colliding with her small frame caused her to fall backwards, tumbling over one of the half emptied desks. She landed on the other side.

Meanwhile, Viktor quickly rolled in the opposite direction creating the space necessary to safely push up onto his feet.

“That will not happen again.” Viktor's voice carried a tinge of anger with it. He removed his helmet, clearly revealing his cut face that was already in the process of healing.
He eyed his two foes recovering from what he had done.

For the girl, there was the pain of her fall and another stinging sensation at the small of her back. Something pointed was digging into her. She rolled away in order to identify the cause. One of the testing tube holders was lying next to her.

She was so done with this. This was far too much fighting for her liking. The girl forced herself to stand up and appraised the situation inside the room. Her eyes narrowed when she saw Viktor was also back on his feet. Now without his helmet she could see his face clearly. She was disappointed to find the damage she’d done was starting to heal up. Maybe she wasn’t trying hard enough.

While this was usually the time she would exit the scene, something was gnawing at her. This was the second time he had the guts to physically assault her and he stole her weapon. A rifle which was fully customized to her tastes, irreplaceable and extremely expensive.

“Riley…..”

This time she was going to be petty and get even.

“Take him down.”

Without hesitation Riley charged back in. He grabbed a broken chair and launched it at Viktor with one arm. Throwing furniture around hadn't worked previously, but he was willing to try any form of attack for [I]her[/]/I] and especially against him. Riley recognized Viktor as the guy who got on his nerves at the convenience store. Even more reason to break his face! Again, Viktor evaded Riley's attack, but this time around, Riley was slightly prepared for Viktor to do just that. With his next action, he attempted to quickly close the remaining distance and so he could repeatedly strike at Viktor like before. Each swing hit air, and not only that, every few misses he could feel the sting of Viktor's counter strikes.

The girl watched and waited, lurking while studying the flow of the fight while being just out of reach. Decisively, she came in low to Viktor’s blind side, delivering a strong calf kick. The slight buckling of one of Viktor's legs was enough to unbalance him. And with that, Riley was able to land a punch to his face. Viktor stumbled backward, nearly falling but managed to regain his footing. His emerald eyes looked between both of his opponents, their differences in approach being a dangerous combination for him. Still, he would persist.

Two foes. One an objective. Comms are down. Helmet is destroyed. My team is up above, status unknown. Regrouping is an option but retreating doesn't ensure securing Riley. There's her. Another unknown factor… Fine, I'll stop them here and regroup with the others.

Viktor grinned. He couldn't help but feel a rush at the prospect of testing his prowess. The sliver of sympathy he felt for Riley was only just that. As long as he didn't kill either of them he could let loose.

The three clashed against each other in the open room. Just as before, Riley was the aggressor and the girl complimented his wild fury with her precision. Viktor was fighting well at first but as he parried Riley, he was struck by the girl. Every time he maneuvered to strike the girl, he was interrupted by Riley. As the engagement continued, their combined attacks broke through more and more. The girl smirked as if answering Viktor's previous grin. Each time Riley created an opening she struck at Viktor, like a snake striking at a large mammal. The strength of her kicks was uncanny considering her size. Viktor was losing this.

“Tired yet?” She dodged a kick and Riley took this chance. With a grunt, he grabbed Viktor by his dangling hood and slammed him to the ground. Now! She moved in and kicked Viktor in his side hard enough to send him rolling and then pounced on top of him.

The girl relished the feeling of finally being back in control, with Viktor writhing beneath her. Her gaze went to his exposed neck. Something within her form shifted, became more predatory. Her hands turned Viktor's face to the side and she lowered her mouth towards him. The bite was quick, hollowed fangs pumping pheromones into his bloodstream. Both of their green eyes were overshadowed by their expanding pupils, almost looking possessed by some otherworldly force.

A forceful push broke their intimate exchange. The girl fell backwards, satisfied and slightly out of breath. Riley approached but she raised a hand which directed him to halt where he stood. A bite like that was a nail in the coffin for the fight. Now was the time to string along such an exceptional thrall.

Viktor rose to his feet. One hand was holding his side while the other brushed against his neck where he had been bitten. His eyes were affixed toward the ground as a strange feeling took hold of him. The experience was both overwhelming and strange but he couldn't deny the… Was it relief? No, there was something else. His eyes met the girl's own as he finally raised his head.

“Disgusting.” His jaw clenched as he scowled at her, but he also felt himself fighting a primal urge. “What did you…” It dawned on him. Talon, Thiago, Ja, Riley, and the other teenagers! It wasn't the dart rifle, it was her. Viktor narrowed his eyes and he reached for his belt.
Thank you all for contributing to this story.

It was great xxx

Location: Training area
Interactions: Everyone

Poppy brushed off the dust from her arms and inspected her work. She was pleased. Sure you would need to use your imagination on some parts. Like the rooftop chase, which was not nearly as high as a rooftop. The training course started with a steep uphill run towards a broken assembly of stone structures. There a rooftop chase would start, testing balance in the pursuit of a swift and nimble target.

The glass shards got repurposed in swinging boobytraps. They were strategically tied to high rising tree branches, which towered over a seemingly harmless forest trail. After having cleared the forest the training group would be faced with a large open field, deceptively empty. There they would face an aerial assault through the combination of Lysandra’s drones and Poppy’s crossbow.

The final stop was a mound of stones, pieces of wood and other sorts or rubble, of which the objective seemed to be lacking. The red haired Sidhe made her way back to the entrance where she waited for everyone to arrive. She expected everyone to be there. Poppy brushed away a sheen of transpiration on her face and the back of her neck. Her blouse was sticking to the skin of her back. As per usual she came prepared with a fresh set of clothes. She unlaced her corset and pulled the blouse over her head, letting it fall on the dirt next to her.

Poppy put on a similar off the shoulder top in a washed blueish gray and pulled it underneath her loosened corset. A quick change and she was ready to go. For practicality’s sake she pulled up her hair into a high ponytail, keeping it off her neck.

By now most of the group had gathered at the requested meeting spot and Poppy started to give them instructions on the first objective. After having explained the basic setup, pointing out the area that was supposed to be a deadly drop, the medic continued.

“We’ll be moving from there…” She pointed towards the starting point of the “rooftop” chase.

"To there.”

“Your job is to catch me”

A heat signature was fast approaching. It was moving inhumanly, instead behaving more like an animal. Immediately and without hesitation she fired off of a couple of warning shots, forcing Metamporph to stay on the other side of the suspended bridge. With her hand still on the trigger she glanced down. She wanted to know what Riley and his team were up to. Why was he taking so long to get her weapon back?

Another bright flash off light blinded her, one from which she could feel the heat all the way up at the bridge. When her vision adjusted back to the darkness she spotted several of the kidnapped teens being downed by the heroes. Their bodies fell to the ground, completely limb.

"Do I have to do everything myself?" She hissed, staring daggers at her group.

The repeated failure of the enthralled teens was getting on her nerves. She pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling a headache coming on. It was so hard to find good help these days. With one eye on Metamorph she quickly turned and aimed down, shooting at both friend and foe. This light source had to go.

Only a handful of bullets shot out of the rifle before she emptied the magazine.

"You have got to be kidding me...."

She sighed and dropped the rifle, kicking it to the side in a mildly bored fashion. It was time to get out her other weapons. The agent confidently started to strut across the bridge towards Metamorph. While she walked the heels on her boots retracted and two metal spikes came down to replace them. The fangs inside her mouth lowered down from their hiding place.

He was not going to know what hit him. She prowled closer to him, preparing to strike.

The mystery girl had been waiting for the first of them to enter. Anticipation was always the worst part of her job. A job she performed very well. An experimental agent on the rise, that's what she her employers viewed her as, but who was she really?

Her upbringing actually wasn't much more extraordinary than the teens she now faced. If not for one cruel event in her recent past. Maybe if things had turned out differently she could have been down there, playing the hero. As an intelligence agent she rarely got surprised. Which is why the blow to her stomach and senses was also a blow to her ego. She couldn't see who hit her and the pain was spreading quickly throughout her mid section. She immediately let go of her rifle, refusing to be pulled down. After the initial hit she could feel her legs were starting to slip. Thinking quickly she contorted her upper body to be able to reach the safety of the suspended bridge. She rolled onto her side and clutched her stomach, drawing up her legs.

Breathe.....
Bastard..

Her pale cheeks were resting on the cold metal. She pressed on the earpiece in her left ear, while continuing to breathe and ride out the pain.
"Yeah I'm here what's going in out there?"
Riley's voice was tense. He was feeling on edge. Not only because they were waiting in ambush, he did not like the idea of her facing the entire Team alone.
"There's be.." A violent cough stole the end of her sentence. She cleared her throat and tried again.
"Get Warp...to close the wall" She croaked.

"Riley..."
"Yes?"
"Get me my rifle back....NOW!"

There was an eery silence after every member of the Team entered the hangar. It was palpable, like the calm before a storm. Out of multiple corners the sound of booming footsteps approaching could be heard. They were coming in fast, ambushing the Team in the near dark. Outfitted with night vision goggles they attacked. It was starting to become obvious they were trying to separate the Team, picking them off into different corners of the hangar. One of the teens had created a dome around the opening in the wall. Inside the dome it seemed like everything was going backwards. Stone and metal were melding back together. Slowly the hangar was being plunged back into darkness.

Meanwhile on the drawbridge the agent managed to crawl over to the Kobra operative she downed earlier. She'd confiscated his fire arm and planned to use it to cover Warp. Riley was frantically searching for the rifle, spotting it mid battle. He ordered the other teens to create a distraction while he planned to snatch the weapon from the guy who was holding it.

Location: Lysandra's room,
Interactions: Lysandra, Desmond

"Already sampled it" Lysandra answered without looking up from her desk. She held up the sample, prompting Poppy to take a closer look. As per usual Lysandra was already three steps ahead. Poppy deduced another sample wouldn't be immediately necessary and went over to the sink. She cleaned her hands methodically, getting rid of the film covering her palms.

"I didn't notice it before because I was wearing gloves. Any ideas what it could be? It's odd, not something I've seen with any other patients."

Before Lysandra could answer Desmond walked in. In similar fashion to a soldier and commander, Desmond had a tendency of reporting back to Poppy whenever he'd done a task she asked off him.
"Thanks Desmond, Sean knows his way around the Nest, so he won't be needing much more assistance."

He'd noticed her washing off the residue in the basin. Desmond must have heard what they were talking about when he approached Lysandra's room.

"That is what we're trying to find out." Poppy answered in her even toned voice. She noticed Desmond's concerned expression. The red haired Sidhe finally dried off her hands and joined Lysandra at her desk.

"I did some basic testing and what I've managed to figure out so far is that the substance is definitely organic. It is some kind of spore, so plant based. And...freaking aggressive. Like parasitic almost."

"I need to run some more tests though, before we can really take things up a notch."

Poppy took that as their que to leave Lysandra to her work. For now there wasn't much she or Desmond could contribute. They walked through the hallways, side by side in silence. They returned to the medical area. Poppy's eyes wandered around and came back to focus on Desmond.

"Desmond I'm going to set up a training session outside. Can you gather up a group and meet me there when you're ready?"

"The training session will be an assessment of everyone's skills and fitness. So feel free to bring everything you use in the field with you."

"Listen up boys!"
Standing on top of a suspended bridge the dark haired girl spoke to the teens below. The tattered remains of their clothes hung to their unnaturally muscular frames. Most of them were staring up at the bridge, unable to act upon free will. They were lured to this facility after what seemed to be an innocent date with a beautiful girl and were subjected to some sort of experiment. Now they were unable to escape, not knowing if they would ever return to their normal lives.

“I’m hosting a contest tonight. Any minute now a bunch of do good heroes are going to infiltrate this facility. They’re going to try and rescue you all.”

One of the Kobra agents snapped his head into her direction. He left his post and stomped over to the center of the bridge. He grabbed and twisted her arm behind her back in one quick motion.
“What the hell did you just say?!”

Unbothered, she kept talking.
“Everyone who manages to not get captured is getting a prize. I’d love it if you can rough them up a litte. Test out your new muscles, but no casualties. That will make me very unhappy.”

The Kobra agent lost it, shaking her roughly to get her attention.
“What the fuck are you doing? Why didn’t you…”

BOOM!!!

In a split second the Kobra agent went from holding the girl to being in a deadly vice grip, with a leg twisted around his neck. He was forced down to the hard cold metal of the bridge, taking in shallow breaths.
“You didn’t pay for this bit of intel. I don’t do anything for free.”

The last thing he could see before losing consciousness were the mutated teens, scrambling to take their positions. The facility was designed around the main hangar, a large open space with a sublevel. From there a long hallway with multiple rooms reached out to the back of the estate.

After the chaos of the exploding wall subsided, the entire hangar was empty. The teens that were just there minutes ago had seemingly vanished. Outside of the breached wall the Team was ready to enter. Once they would set foot into the facility they would find themselves in near complete darkness. The lights had gone out. It was eerily quiet and desolate.

In the darkness, emerald green eyes were stalking the Team from up high. The agent was suspended from the drawbridge armed with a sniper rifle, loaded up with paralyzing darts. She had her legs hooked through the metal bars and was hanging upside down, adjusting her aim.

Who’s going first?

Location: Medical area - Desmond's room - Lysandra's room
Interactions: Indigo, Lysandra

The snap of gloves being removed denoted the end of the physical exam. Poppy pulled the curtains aside, releasing Indigo from her care.
"You're free to go"

While she cleared out the workspace she glanced at the tall stranger, who looked lost. The Sidhe approached, placing her hand on Indigo's inked forearm. She looked up into a pair of pale green eyes.
"We'll find you a place to sleep later, for now just familiarize yourself with your new surroundings. I suggest to stay with us for a while. At least until you've processed what you've become. You got a second life Indigo."

Poppy wanted to check on Amelia again. After she discovered her condition was worsening Desmond's sister was constantly in the back of her mind. She entered the room, closing the door behind her. Amelia was sleeping peacefully. Her chest rose up and down slowly, her breathing was steady, face serene. Poppy brushed some hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear.
"Desmond really loves you..."

Sometimes she thought about what would happen if she didn't remember him. Amelia would have no recollection about the fierce and loyal love of her brother. His fight would have been pointless, everything he'd done to save her. Only to find that person isn't there anymore. Poppy closed her eyes. Sometimes she thought the same might have happened to him.
Stop it...

A tear ran down her face. A tear of sadness at Amelia's situation or maybe her own. It was difficult to say. She wiped her cheeks and took a deep breath. Poppy rubbed her fingers together, there was something odd sliding on her fingertips. It was some sort of residue. Where did it come from? She narrowed her eyes and held up her fingers to her face. The skin looked normal.

It had not been there before she entered the room and Amelia was the only one she touched since. Poppy brushed Amelia's upper arm with her left hand. The same residue started to stick to her other hand. Strange. She must not have noticed it when she was wearing gloves before.

A couple of minutes later the red haired Sidhe entered Lysandra's room.
"I discovered something."
She held out both of her hands to Lysandra, palms facing upwards.
"There is something covering Amelia's skin. It transferred over to me when went to see her."
