Druuk was not one to talk a whole lot, but if he was this place would have left him speechless. It was more beautiful than anything he had ever seen before. Coming from the north that wasn't exactly difficult, but in his mind he knew he would probably never see something this beautiful ever again. The king spoke and Druuk did his best to listen, he was never very good with authority figures, but for King Regulus he would do his best to not be rude. As Druuk watched he noticed something, was the king...courting Sinead? Possibly, though clearly their society had rules and those rules said they could not remain in the star city. The king gave Druuk a pat on his shoulder, looking at the other he noticed they got a star where the king touched them. Lifting his shirt and seeing his shoulder Druuk saw there was no star for him.

Now, anyone else may have been offended. After all, why do the others get stars but not him? But Druuk was not anyone else, he took his lack of star as the king thinking he was stronger than the other two. He clearly was, looking at the others he could take them in a straight up fight. But he would not do that, while strength was the ultimate sign of power, Druuk had come to believe that it was the responsibility of the strong to protect those who can not protect themselves. Sinead seemed to be looking desperately at Druuk, as if she wanted him to speak. Clearly she did not know him well, but he did wish to say a few words to the king anyways.

"Lord Regulus," Druuk dropped to one knee with his right hand over his heart, then stood and continued. "I am..." Druuk spoke slowly, he knew words were not his strong suit so he wanted to make sure this came out right. "I am honoured by what you have done for us today. You have done more for us as strangers than other rulers would do for their own people," Druuk knew something about that, but he didn't want to bring that up now. "All we need is safe travel to our camp. I thank you for your hospitality, you are indeed a great Lord, the little ones were right to be so excited for your coming."
Sam didn't really do anything to set himself up in his new room, all he did is open up his suitcase and put it at the foot of his bed for easy access to his clothes. He undressed himself for bed and lied there thinking, not about any one thing in particular, just about whatever random thoughts happened to pop in to his head. His dad was chief among those thoughts, he wished his dad was still around, then maybe he'd be able to learn from him how to control his powers better. At one point he couldn't pinpoint the waking thoughts turned to dreams. Nothing really happened as tends to be the case with dreams, but his dad was heavily featured.

Sam woke up to a horrible screeching noise, and what sounded like a fight going on a few doors down. He tried to get up and out of bed but he was wrapped up in his sheets, he must have been tossing and turning in his sleep. He stood up, still wrapped in the blankets, took one step and fell flat on his face. "Okay Sam, stay calm, don't want to lose your cool." He tried to roll himself over but ended up smashing his knee in to the bedpost, it seemed he was closer to the bed than he thought he was. "Fuck, ow, my knee," at this point his skin was starting to smoke. "They're just blankets, how the hell am I so tangled in them?" Once more he tried to stand but he slipped again and just stayed on the floor. He was breathing heavily now, unable to contain his frustration, "god...DAMNIT," he erupted in flames and simply burned the blankets off. "Think you're so tough now, huh!?" He was talking to blankets, clearly he was not in the best state of mind.

But he was free now, and ready to go help his new friends. As he grabbed the doorknob he remembered something important though, he sleeps in the nude, and had not put on anything due to his blanket situation. He quickly ran over to his suitcase, throwing his clothes all around looking for a pair of boxers, of course they had to be at the bottom of his bag. At last, he was at least wearing boxers and he was ready to help with whatever was going on. As he threw his door open his hair was flaming, and houses sprinklers came on. He saw the girl from the crash over by the laundry room on the floor, and she was...crying? He ran over to her, not even seeing what was in Nora's room, and upon closer inspection she wasn't crying, but laughing. Had he missed it? Did Sam somehow miss an entire skirmish just trying to get out of bed? At this point his hair was back to normal and he was dumbfounded. Fine, if he missed the whole fight he'd try to play it off like the dummy he was, "um, did I miss something?" He hoped she didn't flip on him for not having been in the fight, though the laughing could be from having a nervous break so anything was possible.
"I guess it's kind of like exercise," Sam said as he finished the pattern, then bowed out of habit. He gave Jaiden a nod as he left, "alright man, I'll make sure the others know." Sam turned back to face Boxcar again and explain what he was doing, "it's from Tae-Kwon-Do, basically you do the moves and it's supposed to teach you proper form." It felt a bit strange explaining what he was doing to Boxcar, partly because Boxcar was a wolf, but mostly because Sam had never really explained his hobby to anyone else before so it was a strange experience. "The fire isn't required, I was just adding that in because it feels nice, y'know?"

Sam immediately realized how dumb that question was, "no, I guess you wouldn't know." He walked over and sat next to the wolf, "do you ever feel like you're not in control of yourself Boxcar? Like if you don't work for it your instincts will just take over and you won't be able to stop yourself until it's too late and something bad has happened?" Sam sighed, creating a small fire in his hand, "that's what it's like for me. It's why I came here, to try and figure out if there's a way for me to not live in fear of myself." Sam snuffed out the flame and gave Boxcar a little smile, "sorry, that got a bit heavy, thanks for listening." He gave Boxcar a rub on the head then got up, "I'm gonna go to my room and get myself set up, you wanna come in, or are you gonna stay out here?"
Sam sat quietly at the table eating his food, after their visitor left and Nora went after her Sam slinked away from the table, put his plate in the dishwasher and headed outside. He had been planning on putting his room in order but he knew Nora and the other girl were up there and he didn't want to walk in on that. So instead he stood out back of the lodge and did something he hadn't done in a long time, practice his martial arts. He didn't really remember any of the Forms he'd been taught so instead he just did whatever moves felt natural, making sure to face away from the lodge. After each move he made flame shoot from his hand or foot, some just small puffs, others shooting as high as the lodge, anyone looking outside would probably wonder what was going on. The martial arts was fairly therapeutic, it allowed Sam to clear his mind and think about what had happened since they'd properly arrived at the lodge.

His thoughts mostly lingered on the door in the basement. Its not like it was just hidden behind some boxes, there was a secret switch and if it wasn't for Boxcar's nose they probably never would have found it in the first place. What could possibly be down there? It wasn't a dirt tunnel, it looked like the entrance to a secret underground lab. Sam found it hard to believe that the house full of somewhat unstable supernaturals happened to be built on top of whatever was in that basement.

Then there was the girl they had found, she was from the crash in the woods, Sam wondered what her story was. She'd clearly been through a lot and didn't want to tell anyone about it. Sam could respect that, he knew people always said talking would make it better but it didn't always. Sometimes all talking did it let your emotions spill out, sometimes what you needed was some time to yourself to process things alone. He was sure given some time she'd eventually warm up to them, maybe not tell them what happened, but that was fine, some things were better left unsaid. During Sam's time out back he had remembered one of his Forms, his favourite one , so he was now doing that in the back, shooting his flames, alone with his thoughts.
"Druuk, just Druuk," he said to the girl, Sinead of the Argents, bit of a pompous name, but he'd let it slide. He was sure she must have grown up somewhere you needed proper manners, maybe The Empire. Perhaps she would know things he did not. He gripped his swords once more then released them and cracked his knuckles. She probably wouldn't be much good in a fight, so Druuk would have to step up. The other one, they boy, he looked stronger. Not as strong as Druuk, but like he may have grown up having to work a bit harder to get his lot in life. "Didn't think dealing with whatever we're coming up on alone was the best idea, so I'll be joining you so we have a better chance of survival if things go south." Druuk wasn't asking to join the two of them, he was simply informing them he'd now be along for the ride whether they liked it or not.

Suddenly there was a loud sound, like many voices singing at once, he heard the other starlings saying that Regulus had arrived. The starling that gave him flight couldn't figure out how to get outside so instead flew excitedly around Druuk's head saying how this Regulus, the King of the Stars, had arrived. Druuk chuckled as it flew around his head, "how about we go outside together little one? Then we can go meet Regulus together?" Druuk heard Sinead mention he dislike of nobility, that was a point on which they agreed. Perhaps they could be friends after all, even if she was not nearly in fighting condition.

The creature zipped around the room once more and hid again. Druuk heard the other creatures saying things about having stolen the train and it's occupants. While he did not like the idea of being stolen the creatures seemed to mean them no harm for the time being. Druuk turned his head from side to side looking for the creature while saying, "now where did you go little one?"

"I am hidden! I am the best at hiding!" He heard it giggle behind him and noticed its glow in his peripheral vision. It reminded him of the younger children back home, they often hid for stealth exercises but then didn't understand that to stay hidden you had to stay quiet. Druuk chuckled then spun around quickly to find the starling right in front of him "Aha! I gotcha." He was sure if the creature could look surprised it would, it seemed very happy when it said, "You found me! I hide so well! You must be magic!" He noticed the girl from early seemed to be drifting in to his room, literally drifting, as her feet weren't touching the ground. She left and Druuk brought his attention back to the starling, chuckling at its remark about him having to be magic.

"I'm just good at finding things, you're much more magical, you can fly and lift this train," Druuk said this to the creature but it just giggled some more and replied, "It's easy if you try! I can even make you fly." This surprised Druuk, would he really be able to fly? He'd had dreams of flying before, not aspirations but actual dreams, and he always found them incredible. "I'd like to see that, I'm a pretty big guy," he was a bit dubious of the claim but if he could fly he'd very much like to experience it. The starling flew over him and covered his shoulders with a light golden dust, and Druuk felt as light as a feather. He jumped lightly to experiment and it felt as thought gravity no longer applied. After a few moments he found it easiest to treat it as though he was in water and to swim through the air. He laughed, a real, true laugh he had not felt in a long time, "oh thank you little one, this is amazing."

The other humans who were originally occupying the train seemed to be floating along just outside the train. Druuk gripped his swords to make sure they had not fallen as he flew about his room and they were where they should be. He left his room to go join the others, they were all in this together now, he may as well figure out who they were and what they could do. "Hi," he grunted to them as he approached, very personable, helped by how his face had gone in to its default resting position which was a scowl, making him look somewhat angry.

Druuk sat alone in his train car, with the window open to feel the wind whistling by. It also provided an easy escape should the train suddenly stop. The train car was big enough to be comfortable but not nearly enough to fight with any kind of grace. Druuk was sure he could take on a single attacker if it came to it, a group may be tougher. But hopefully The Empire wasn't completely inept and their trains had some sort of protection seeing as they've been doing this for some time. So Druuk absently cracked his knuckles and sat back in his chair, his blades resting at his sides, and he let his mind wander.

He knew there were others on the train with him, they each had their own sections. He was glad for that fact, it meant they should stay away and not try to make small talk. People often thought Druuk was just some idiot from the North Kin, but he wasn't totally clueless. He knew some things, important things, like survival, and battle technique, and.....and that trains don't fly. Druuk thought something felt off, and looking out the window he noticed everything was on an angle, and not an angle that would come from just going up a hill.

Druuk could hear voices as the train rose, he couldn't make out what they were saying, but it sounded like they were giggling. The voices were also very high pitched, what exactly were these things? As Druuk thought about that one of them flew in through his open window. He tried to reach out and grab it but the creature was very quick, it zipped around the room and eventually found its way to a pouch. Druuk had his hands on his swords but released them when it seemed the creature was not going to fight him. It didn't seem like a creature which could fight, but it obviously had some kind of power about it if its kind were what was lifting the train in to the sky.

While Druuk debated disturbing the creature in its pouch he suddenly felt like he was being watched. Glancing at his door he saw a woman standing there. Had she been there long? It looked a bit like she was expecting Druuk to say something, had she spoken to him? He was a bit lost with trying to figure out what these things were that he may have missed whatever it was she said. At any rate she mumbled something he didn't catch then became distracted by who Druuk assumed to be their other train mate. He ignored them, they could do what they were doing, he wanted to see what kind of creature had the power to lift a train.

He put his hand in the pouch and scooped out the creature. It was definitely physical, but it almost felt like he was holding light. "Do you speak, what is it you are doing here?" Druuk was not the best with his words, just another reason he did not enjoy talking to people. The creature did not look like much, but he had to keep reminding himself that the train was in the air, and anything that could do that had to be seriously powerful.

"Well first, let me say that wanting to run when no one is around sounds like the way to do it," he started cutting in to his omelette as he spoke, "now, I'm not one to run just for the hell of it. But if I did, I would want to do it without spectators....maybe a running buddy to keep me motivated. Sam had a bite of omelette and a thought occurred to him, did he really hate running? He thought he hated it, when he was younger he wasn't too keen on it, but maybe he'd changed. Maybe if he couldn't sleep at 5 in the morning he might ask Ruby one time to try running with her. He let the thought pass and continued talking, "as for sleep, it was about as good as it can be. Nothing can compare to my bed at home, y'know? But the beds here are pretty nice too."

Sam was quiet a few moments while he continued eating, then he realized something and grinned, "history is the first class of the day, isn't it? That's pretty good, start the day off with a pretty easy class." Sam figured if the class was taught by anyone other than Sir Hives then he wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much. That was someone Sam looked up to, he hoped one day he will have traveled the world as much if not more than Sir Hives had. Who knows, maybe after Sam retired he might decide to become the new history teacher at St. Fortuna's. The class was also easy because Sir Hives almost never assigned homework, Sam was awful with homework, he was of the mind that schoolwork should not follow you out of the classroom.
