This was… as you can imagine, awkward and he didn’t get much of a warning either. She stared up at Robert, her eyes begging, BEGGING, him to help her in this situation; it even got to the point that she was holding her breath. He could rat her out and say she was crazy than she’d have a lot more explaining to do… or he could play along with her and help her out. Robert, helping her out… that would be a first! As he began to speak her body relaxed as her arms stayed through his and he led her away from Edward starting a sentence about a nice place on the pier they could eat. She kept her attention straight headed as they walked before he asked if Edward was still looking. She did a gentle glance over her shoulder as if she was looking for something, only to see Edward staring daggers at them; probably questioning exactly what was going on. Her attention moved forward as they weived their way through the tables as if trying to find some place to sit… shit, now she’d actually have to spend lunch with Robert and if they didn’t keep a conversation going then Edward would get suspicious. “Yep…” She said with announce in her voice. “he’s still looking… And I don’t think he’s buying it.” Weaving towards the back of the cafeteria area she spoke softly to him. “He’s been very aggressive lately so it wouldn’t surprise me if he tries to sit close enough to keep an eye on us. I’ll just pretend to get a phone call and leave when we pick a table. Sorry for dragging you into this, I hope he doesn’t give you any guff.” Really… she could have grabbed anyone and she grabbed Robert Locksley. She did her best not to look up at him; she was going to have to deal with the black-lash from Edward and the female community who seemed not only jealous that she was Edward’s attention but jealous that she was on the arm of Robert. Hey girls, you can have both; as far as she was concerned she wasn’t interested in either one of them. The only one that interested her at this point was… well Robin Hood.
Sure, as soon as Peter left Rocket began to hit on her; sharing with her a large amount of unexpected stories about his time around the universe and how many things he had accomplished. But Nikki’s mind was far from close to listening to Rocket. She was staring after Quill, he didn’t seem too happy of her choice but they were helping her and the last thing she wanted to do was set them all up for failure. That and something deep down inside of her told her that she wouldn’t be able to stand seeing something happen too Quill… for some reason… Sleeping aboard the Milano was a different feeling all together. Maybe it had to do with more than one other person aboard… maybe it has to do with the assassin aboard… or the creature her culture valued… or it might be because she was, maybe-possibly, developing feelings for? Nikki tossed and turned in her bad; knowing full well that tomorrow would be the end-all-be-all of her life… -------- The morning exploded with a loud fight and the blue haired girl shot up from her bed and jumped up. Her natural reaction was to pull the sword from the sheath and stand ready to attack someone who came in through her door. Which would probably be a large surprise seeing the girl in her tank top and underwear ready to cut someone in half. The argument grew louder before she realized exactly what was going on. Gamora and Rocket were arguing; and it wasn’t until Quill jumped in that Nikki’s shoulders fell with a bit of ease. Sighing she rubbed her eyes and began to rustle around in her room. Knock knock knock, “Hey beautiful. We need to talk about a game plan for how today’s going to work.” Rocket called out, a hint of excitement in his voice. Obviously he was hoping that he’d get to set up the girl with a bunch of explosives and things she could use. What he wasn’t expecting was for her to crack open the door to explain why she wasn’t coming out or letting him in instantly. What Rocket caught a glimpse of was a bare leg before Nikki hid herself behind the door but kept her face out to talk to him. “I’ve got some great things to give you…” He said in a bit of a daze with a grin across his muzzle. “Okay I will be out shortly.” She said with a smile as she shut the door. The argument rose between her and Gamora as soon as the girls were in the room together because of the visibility of her weapons. “Listen!” Gamora said slamming her fist against the table top, “Running around with the weapons won’t make it seem like you’re at ease.” “Oh yes because I’m going to run around in a skimpy dress, he’s not the only one I have to worry about. I have to be prepared all the time. What do you not understand about that?” “I like the idea of the dress…” Rocket said allowed standing up on the chair with a grin. “No dress. If I get too casual, he won’t believe it. I can be care-free and feel comfortable but to be so causal that I don’t have anything on me that’s just too suspicious.” She said with a nod . “Listen, I have an idea, Sir Rocket showed me what’s available and if I wear my jacket I could hide tranquilizers up the sleeves. If he gets too close and no one can come to my aid, I’ll knock him out. I just need the strongest stuff you have that won’t kill him.”
As you can imagine, Marian was growing more and more uncomfortable with the situation at hand; and the more uncomfortable she got, the more comfortable he seemed to get with it. Well this was horribly awkward. At least that’s what she thought until she heard a voice and both her and Edward’s attention were drawn to it. Robert stood there and began to speak something about a dirty hotline number that Edward was apparently calling. Her eyebrows raised in shock as she turned her blue gaze back to Edward. His face turned red from being jerked back from Marian and the comments coming from Robert that, aside from thinking the comments were stupid, he didn’t really know what else to do with himself as he hurried into his father’s office and slammed the door shut. Marian, still backed up against the wall let out a short sigh of relief, her long lashes closing for a moment as she took in a couple deep breathes and let out another sigh. Her blue eyes flickered back open as she turned them to look up at the sharply dressed man with the messy hair. A small closed mouth smile curled the corners of her full lips upward in a grateful thank you without many words. After a small pause, she spoke. “Well, I’m not the only one who can fight the good fight now.” She said with a soft smile before gesturing towards the direction that Edward went, “Thank you. I owe you one. I’ll see you around.” With that she left him with a gentle smile; maybe he’ll be less of a jerk this time around, he seemed to give off more of a humble feeling. Hopefully she’s not wrong. ------ The day went by well until it hit lunch time. The small buffet was provided Monday and many people were helping themselves to the found. Marian being no different at the time; she was filling a plate full of food before she felt someone slid into her and her body shuttered… Great. “So Marian, about dinner…” “I’m sorry Edward but someone already beat you to it.” She said simply with a small shrug before she turned up to see the surprise on his face. Great, now she’d had to keep up the lie. “Oh yeah, I have a date tonight already.” “With who?” He asked in a questioning tone, sounding almost offended; as if she was supposed to already have plans with him. “With…” Taking her plate into one hand she reached behind her, grabbing the nearest hand she could. She didn’t care who she grabbed at this point; she could grab the frumpy brunette from the checkout counter. As she reached behind her, she grabbed a hold of the nearest bicep she found and pulled! Her blue eyes scanned up to see she grabbed a rather shocked looking Robert by her side, her arm linked into his. “Robert Locksley.” She said trying to not sound shocked that he was the one he grabbed. With that she turned to Edward before Robert could speak up. “I have a date with Robert tonight. We haven’t discussed the details but it’s going to happen and it’s tonight. So I’m sorry; it’s going to have to be some other time.” With that she looked up at Robert with a bright smile on her face, flashing her pearly white smile. “Shall we go discuss what the night has in store for us?” Her smile faded softly as her eyes begged him to play along… oh please oh please play along!!
Marian was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn’t realize her inbox was exploding on itself. Clicking on the first one, she thought it was something to do with her situation but instead it was about…. Robert? Robert Locksley coming back to the branch?! WHAT?! Her eyes expanded as she nearly threw herself out of her seat to look closer at the email. There wasn’t much information other that he was invited to return to the firm for some unknown reason. She, like everyone else, was out of their seats and nearly hanging outside of their offices looking at the group that had already surrounded Robert. Half of her was happy to see that he was back; simply because his firing seemed unreasonable. But at the same time she was annoyed with the fact that he was back, now she’d have to deal with more of his bullshit. And the mixed emotions were easily read on the young blonde’s face. “Mister Locksley,” Jason Taylor said making the crowd parted for his arrival. “Come with me young man. We have a lot to discuss. Everyone get back to work.” He said in a harsh tone. “We’ve got a lot to do and very little time to do it in.” With that everyone dispersed as Jason began to lead Robert towards his office. When they arrived, Jason told him to wait outside for a moment. In that moment, Edward came out of the office. The young lawyer giving Robert a welcome back smile before starting around the corner to go down the hallway; only to nearly run into Marian who had been following the two men. “Marian.” Edward said with a bit of a smile in his voice. “Edward what’s going on?” “Oh Robert’s going to help us track down Robin Hood. So…” The young man placed an arm against the wall, near Marian’s head as her back turned against it, finding herself slightly pinned. “I was thinking about last night. And I do think that the police are overkill from your father… so why don’t you let me walk you home. Maybe you could cook some dinner; we could break open a bottle of wine and discuss some things….” “I really don’t have anything to discuss. I told everything there is to tell to my dead and that’s that.” “Oh the Robin Hood thing… no I wasn’t referring to that…” Edward said brushing over the fact that he never asked if she was safe or okay. “I was referring to when we are going to start becoming more serious…” “I didn’t even realize we were a ‘something’.” She said in a slightly sarcastic tone before attempting to step away, only to find his other hand up against the wall, occupying her space to move. “Edward…” She said in a warning tone. This was not something she was okay with and it was obvious to that in her tone and even more obvious that Edward Taylor was ignoring it.
Nikki didn’t want to leave Quill go as he said that he was needed elsewhere. But at least Rocket didn’t come up; not really sure if she could talk her way out of this one with Quill. Upon his leaving, she tilted her head after him before finding herself leaning against the nearest wall. The sensation from his lips tingling against her neck; what a feeling! That was a first, a first for her to experience something that made her so weak-kneed. You learn something new every day and right now, she was learning she was falling for a Star-Lord. It took a bit for her to regain herself, which was a bit embarrassing because she’s never been like this before. But she was thankful that no one was around in order to see her being so… relaxed. They might think she’s gone soft and weak in a bad sense. Sighing softly she pulled herself upright as she heard Quill’s howler. “I like the idea of beating him to near death.” Drax said sitting straight and serious in the chair. “I think bait is the best bet.” Gamora said, her crossed arms in the corner say that she enjoyed the idea of throwing Nikki into a pit of fire like making her bait but at the same time she didn’t want to lose he possibility to bring in such a large catch. “I am Groot.” Groot said sitting in a chair while Nikki stood near him, her arms crossed under her chest as she looked around the group. “I understand that, but it’s our safer bet to get Zero out in the open to have her pay the part.” “I am Groot.” He said a bit more insistently. “I know it’s dangerous but we’re rather limited on the things we can do at this point.” Rocket said insistently. The group began to speak up, shouting soon occurred. Half wanting to use her as bait and the other half would rather pull Grip and beat him senseless. Nikki’s chocolate eyes flicked back and forth between everyone. They were getting frustrated with one another and unable to come to a discussion…. THUD! A dagger hit the center of the table, drawing attention to it than its thrower. “Seeing as it’s my problem and you guys are helping me. I think I should be my job to choose the solution.” Nikki said sharply, willing to make the choice that the group was arguing about. “The idea of being bait isn’t my favorite but it makes it the best bet to lure him into a trap. He won’t attack me until he feels I’m completely alone. If we can lure him into a false sense of security, we can catch him. But he won’t make a move until he’s completely certain I’m alone, that would have to be the deciding factor. Can we come up with a plan that can give off that false sense of security than let’s chance that route first; using the beating tactic as a second choice.”
The face to face interaction with her very stressed out father happened only moments after Robin Hood left her doorstep. So you can imagine, the blonde opened the door expecting to see the vigilante once again but finding her father, Frank Anderson with tears in his eyes as he threw his arms around his daughter. He was never one to get emotional but since he lost her mother, he was very protective of his little girl. The two had a long conversation as a ‘questioning’. Marian ended up convincing her father to leave so she could get some sleep but he wanted to interrogate her about her kidnapping. “For the final time dad,” She said nearly shouting at him which caused him to jump slightly at her door. “He _walked_ me home. What more information do you want? We didn’t talk, we didn’t ramble and the only thing that he said to me was that he feels like I’m a good person. So he had no intention of robbing me. In fact dad; if you must know, I felt more safe with the man you’re attempting to track down then I did with the man you’d like to see me with.” With that she gave him a firm nod. “Before you start worrying about who I’m hanging out with, you should consider worrying about whom you want me to hang out with. Good night dad.” With that she left a dumb struck father standing on her front porch. ------- “Now to Melissa live on the scene.” “Thanks Mark, we are outside of Marian Anderson’s home with others waiting to get a statement from her. But it looks like…” The redheaded reporter turned around to see a cop car pull up and two armed officers climbed out. “Apparently she’s getting an escort to and from work.” The redhead turned her attention back to the camera as the cops pushed their way through the crowd and stood at the door. “No one should be surprised by this, she is the daughter of the police chief and is one of the few people whose actually spoken with the infamous Robin Hood so that states that Marian could be the key to figuring out who Robin Hood is… Does she know something and she’s not talking? Could she really keep that from her own father…” The door to her front house opened and the press pushed their way up onto her porch and attempted to shove cameras and microphones into her face. One officer was to her left and the other was to her right pushing the press gently out of their way and take Marian to the police car. Questions were shouted at the blonde in the blue blouse with a black skirt. An oversized steel colored jacket over her shoulders to keep her warm on the chilly day. She didn’t say anything as they screamed questions after questions at her. “Did he hurt you?” “What did he say to you?” “Why were you targeted?” “Did he take anything from you?” “Was he doing it to spit your dad… the Taylors?” “Were you held hostage somewhere?” “Did they tie you up?” “How many were there?” “Do you remember where they took you? Any sounds or smells you remember?” The questions were like a fluid gate opening and she couldn’t answer the questions even if she wanted to; there were too many people talking at once. Marian did get a chance to watch the news and caught word about the man dropping off the bag and the note that was left; as you can imagine, she had a smile curling her full lips in a closed mouth smile. He took her advice, her suggestion and did it! If that’s not proof that Robin Hood isn’t completely heartless then what else could be considered proof?! She slid herself into the back seat of the car that the police came in and one came in beside her while the other took the driver’s seat. “We need to stop at the donut shop.” The young cops gave her a confused and slightly offended look. “Not for you guys. I go every morning to give a homeless man a donut. Since you guys won’t let me sit outside and talk with him I’d like to still give him the donut.” It took a lot of convincing but the men finally allowed the stop to happen. The thing she wasn’t counting on was the press to bombard the courthouse and attempt to get more information out of her. The blonde climbed out of the car and was nearly pinned against the door before the cops could get to her to keep the press back. Microphones and cameras shoved into her face before the cops could get them back. Her blue gaze attempted to scan through the press to find her homeless friend but the police officers pushed her to the door instead of giving her a chance to look. When she reached the door and up the stairs, she finally got a look over the heads to see a familiar hat and coat; she attempted to wave to the figure before the cops insisted she went inside. “There’s an old man outside with a jacket and a cane. Will you please make sure he gets his donut?” The cops gave her an understanding smile, knowing full well that it was Marian’s personality and they were willing to do that for her. They made sure to give the old man his donut in the bag saying it was from Marian before she sat down in her little office, draping the coat over her chair and sitting down. She turned on her computer and began to log into her email as she settled herself back in her spinning chair, her finger tips dancing together in thought. He really listened to her. That was shocking but she couldn’t help but smile as she waited for her email inbox to load.
“I figured keeping my options open wouldn’t exactly be a bad thing for me.” Nikki said with a small nod as he said that she was making a good choice by only wanting someone taller than her. There’s no point at being super picky when you have the whole universe to look through in order to find someone you’d enjoy to be with. Though… she was enjoying who she was with right now; could you blame her? She was comfortable, at peace and relaxed for the first time in a long time. Of course she was happy where she was right now. Her gaze flickered open once again as she attempted to look at him. A smile moved across her full lips showing her bright white teeth as he made a comment about not commenting about him being a bad guy. She couldn’t help but gasp in surprise when his lips hit her neck again, her body shivering gently in his arms. This was… different, but a good different; a different she could get used to… maybe, down the line. It’s going to take a while but there’s a chance. A small sigh left her as his lips released from her neck. “Well if you find any more specifics please be sure to let me know.”
The walk was nice, and she was surprisingly warm thanks to his jacket. Isn’t is funny how some people are so self-absorbed that they can’t see that people need help; but others go out of way to help those in need. Robin noticed she was in need of a jacket and gave her one while her own ‘walking home’ buddy ignored her obvious signs of discomfort and would have rather let her shake then to help keep her warm. Unlike someone who claimed to have feelings for her. Maybe he did but he didn’t know how to show it… but, as much as Marian would love to attempt to give him the benefit of the doubt, the side he was showing her was something she did not enjoy. It’s funny that the most gentlemanly gesture she had received in a while was from a man that her father was desperately hunting for. His statement of wanting to finish their dance too just made her grin up at him. Beaming in a moment of excitement at it! It’s not every often you get a chance to impress someone like Robin Hood but here she was, impressing him and making him wish that they could have finished the dance. When he mentioned that he wasn’t going to rob her she nodded, turning her attention forward as they continued to walk. “We’re not all bad people sir. And I’m glad you’re recognizing that.” She said simply with a small nod. The arrived to her door too soon for her liking but she stuck her key in and unlatched it to go into her large apartment flat. Turning around, she leaned against the door and listened to him ask her if she had any questions for him. Of course she did! She had a million questions but she had something more important on her mind. “I have an idea that might give you a little break from my dad. It would require showing a side of you most people don’t see…” She bit her bottom lip a tiny bit before letting it go. “I think you should mail the watch to my father’s office at the police department. With a note attached saying that you understand how precious family treasures can be. Edward got that watch from his grandfather. His grandfather skipped over his father on his death bed to make sure his grandson had something to remember him by. It was a horrible loss and something that really hurt him. And still hurts him to this day.” A shrug lifted and fell her small shoulders as whistles were heard coming. “Thank you for the jacket Robin Hood. But please consider that.” She gave him a gentle smile and as she opened her door to step inside she turned to him. “Maybe I’ll see you around?” With that and a wink she walked inside and shut the door.
"Yes," Nikki said with a small laugh that rang like bells through the cockpit. "Your wine. He said that you wouldn't mine but it's a shame he didn't know about my love for potato fingers and beer or he might have attempted to find some in the kitchen." Her voice was teasing and soft as she leaned back against him. Her body molding in with his as his arms stayed wrapped around her. God this felt so... So... "My type?" She repeated; a smile in her voice with her eyes still closed. She never actually had time to think about that question. Did she even have a 'type' to begin with? Her people were slaughtered she had been working odd jobs and after meeting Quill the first time she became on the run for her life until now. This as the first time she was ever able to actually think about this question. "I guess, as of now; the only real thing I'm looking for is..." Her chocolate eyes flickered open and she moved her gaze to him, the right corner of her full lips curling up into a smirk, "they must be taller than me." She gave a small shrug to her tank top covered shoulders and closed her eyes again continuing to rest in his arms. "I haven't had much of a chance to think about 'My type' until now. What's your type Quill?" Question fired back at him but her ears listened closely for a response while her neck moved to open itself up to him again. She was very much enjoying the feel of his lips and his breath against her skin; which was apparent by the goose bumps and the tingling sensation.
The more Edward attempted to talk to her, the further and further she looked away from him. Discomfort growing in her mind as she walked. It was becoming more and more apparent that attempting to talk to this self-centered man was non-existent. He was going on and on about how lucky she should consider herself for being able to walk home with him and how safe she must feel and how dangerous these streets are, blah blah blah. That was until a figure moved between them, Marian only thankful to have happen; it gave her a feeling of a ‘break’ from Edward before she was forced to listen to him talk again. That was… until a voice called out to them; causing the two to stop and turn around. The young man who came between them held up something that looked slightly familiar. Even Marian recognized the watch but when the man pulled out a knife, she held up her hands even though the knife was truly only gestured at Edward. Her toned curvy body gave a visible shiver in the dress she was wearing and goose bumps began to appear on her skin for two reasons; one was that the Taylors had a valid point; she did come from a rich background so he’d have no reason not to target her. And two, she was cold! “Listen Robin Hood.” Edward said, his voice cracking in a small amount of fright as he attempted to keep his arm between Robin and Marian. “Just take whatever you want but leave us alone.” His voice tried to sound sharp and stern, like he somehow had the upper-hand of the situation but everyone who’s been around the block when it comes to the lawyer situation knew that this was one of those ‘full of it’ speeches. “There’s no reason for violence, we’ve done nothing wrong and I just want to make sure my girlfriend gets home safe…” “Girlfriend?!” Marian jumped in questioningly only to get a stern look of ‘shut up’ that caused her to open mouth in response before Robin Hood spoke up about Edward being such a gentleman. Her blue gaze shot to the young man in front of them and stared rather blankly at the coat he was handing her. “R…really?” She asked in surprise because she was more than prepared to throw her purse at his feet, instead he was giving her his jacket to stay warm. Taking it from him in surprise, she threw it over her shoulders and stuck her bare arms into the sleeves. It was toast warm, as if he had been wearing it for quite a while and the smell of the cologne on it was almost intoxicating. In fact, she was so lost in the warmth and comforting smell that she didn’t realize that she was getting spoken to. She had put two and two together by now that John Smith was actually Robin Hood standing in front of her. But she wasn’t going to argue with that and she surely wasn’t going to admit that she knew Robin Hood was in the party before everything went crazy. She didn’t say anything, she merely walked to Robin’s side before giving him a small head gesture to continue on her walk; obviously choosing him to walk her home instead of Edward. Did she do it out of fear? Fear because he might hurt her or Edward if she didn’t… or did she do it for some other reason? “Don’t worry Marian!” Edward called out as the two began to walk off… not wanting to reveal what he had in mind as he attempted to get his phone to turn back on. As much as he thought he was being sneaky, he was obviously going to get a hold of the police (or run back to the office) and send them after Robin Hood who was ‘kidnapping’ Marian Anderson, the daughter of the Chief of Police. Why would she choose to be with Robin Hood instead of Edward Taylor? Because she feared for her life and his and thought the best way to save them was to follow the crazy man’s will. “You’re either really brave or really stupid to show back up around here when the whole police station is crawling around.” She said in a playful lecturing tone. “Thank you for the jacket… and the dance. Though it’s disappointing that your body guard interrupted us…” When would she ever have time to make small talk with the mastermind ‘criminal’ of the city? It’s now or never.
