It was nice to hear that the present was treating him well. And his smile, god that smile; a girl could get lost in it. Abbie found herself unconsciously smiling back at him, unsure of really why but it happened. Though as quickly as it came, it lowered slightly as her free hand went to play gently with her earlobe and earring. This was supposed to be a nice night, she couldn’t let this get to her; not now; especially when he gently held her hand.

The night went well, the hand-holding continued and she felt lighter than air despite what was weighing her down. Her body would turn slightly in her chair depending on the topics at hand and her body would tense slightly with his movement, as if not wanting him to move or leave. There was even a point in the evening where she had to excuse herself to use the restroom and give herself a pep-talk in the mirror, reminding herself this was supposed to be a good team between the two of them and she couldn’t let him see her cry. Happiness was her focus right now, not the sadness she was going to experience soon. The night ended well, and no matter how much she insisted he wouldn’t let her pay and they left the restaurant climbing back into his car.

“Thanks for tonight.” She said softly as she leaned back in the comfortable seat as he drove her back to her flat. “I really needed this and I really needed some good company.” One hand played delicately with the rim of her skirt while the other lightly played with her earlobe. She found herself staring out the window more than looking at him, maybe it was because she didn’t want to distract him by engaging him in conversation while he was driving… or it was because she couldn’t look at him at this moment; she might cry.

They pulled into the parking area and she climbed out the vehicle. Normally she’d invite him inside, but she couldn’t… she just couldn’t. “Thanks again Dick. Have a great rest of your night…” With that she turned around and started inside. She was about half way to the door when she stopped. Her heart pulled at her chest, she couldn’t take it anymore.

Turning around she called to him. “Wait.” With that she returned to him, closing the gap between them she reached up and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him down… into a kiss. Their lips touched and it took all of Abbie’s will power not to break down at that moment. After a few moments of holding the kiss, she pulled back and let go of his shirt. “G—good night…” She said softly, stumbling over the words before going inside the building and into the elevator without looking back. As soon as the door shut, leaving the blonde in the elevator alone she broke down crying. This isn’t how she wanted to say good bye to Dick but she didn’t have a choice. Good byes meant he wouldn’t get hurt…

    ----

The top of the Police Station was silent compared to the loud echoes of the streets around it; Batman is gone, but Nightwing is here… and Robin’s still here. The Bat-Signal flickered twice in the air.

Tim’s phone exploded on his hip and he activated it under his mask as he was out on patrol. “Barbara what’s up?”

    “The Bat-Signal just flickered…”

“I’m on it. Why do you sound stressed…”

    “It wasn’t my dad…”

Robin stopped what he was doing, leaving a small pause in the conversation. “Huh… I’m on my way, call Dick.” With that he hung up the phone and he was off.

Robin dropped down on the roof of the police station and looked around before his eyes fell on a figure. “Robin.” A female’s voice said as the figure turned around. Robin’s eyes fell upon a blonde curved body in a white business suit with straight blonde hair, white tennis shoes and a familiar face. “We need to talk.”

“I bet we do Miss Dent.”
His head tilted from side to side listening to what she said, a small smile along his fine lips as he listened. Huh… so calling himself The Doctor wouldn’t exactly be accepted in this time frame. “Then all me John Smith.” His brought and cheery tone was probably less than she wanted to deal with at this point. That much he figured out from her repeated statement that sounded like he was invading her privacy. There’s no way he was invading her privacy, a simple password locked phone was next to nothing for him to deal with; but maybe it bothered her.

Mentally shrugging he turned back to listen to her only to find that she would agree. A large grin moved across his face flashing his bright white teeth at her. “Brilliant! Let’s go.” But it wasn’t until she made a comment about dropping the ‘miss’ from his vocabulary that he stopped his motions to move and turned to her. His head cocked to one side watching her closely before closing the gap between them. “A woman doesn’t like to be called Miss?” He asked softly. “Fine---“ With that he reached down, grabbing her hand without warning and giving the top of it a gentle kiss before turning his twinkling blue eyes to her. “Love.”

With that he dropped her hand and stepped back, creating the gap between them before gesturing. “Lead the way--- Love.”
“Well if I have to wait that long in order to have ice cream in Central Park, then so be it.” She said without really thinking before hiding her face into her beer. Maybe he wouldn’t catch on that they were the only ones who would have things like ‘not-dates’. Was this really a date… nah, it was a ‘not-date’, just two people hanging out, sitting together… at a baseball game, her first one, with giant foam fingers, beer --- so close. Oh shit this was a date!

Yeah, in the back of her mind she knew, but at the same time she wasn’t going to openly admit it. It’s funny though, he was the first guy to actually listen and pay attention to what she liked. Edward was always thinking about himself and she cringed at the thought of even being near the man. And Guy, well Guy was nice but he was a bit aggressive for Marian’s taste in men. Be coy about it, be flirtatious and playful. Maybe a little sneaky like --- Her mind popped back to Robin Hood. His cheeky voice, his friendly gestures, his mystery… what girl could deny a man shrouded in mystery with a flirtatious way about him. Her body tingled with at the thought of him and it wasn’t until Robert’s voice began to echo in her mind and snapped her back into reality.

She had brought her beer to her lips and nearly spit it on the hat of the person in front of her when he said he had never seen the Statue of Liberty before. Cough cough cough, she smacked her chest slightly before finally getting herself together and turning her wide blue eyes to him. “You’ve never been to the island? You’ve never climbed up to the top in the crown?!” She found herself laughing hard as she poked him with her foam finger. “That’s as bad as me with this game. I know what we’re doing for our next not-date.” At that moment, the Yankee’s batter’s bat made a cracking noise and took off in a run. Marian, much like the rest of the crowd was on her feet screaming at the top of her lungs with excitement and joy; cheering her favorite team on.

Marian fell back in her chair with a grin as the man settled in on second base and had brought in two other runners. “Alright we’re off to a great start!” She said with excitement throwing her hands up into the air. It’s funny how that simple statement meant more than one thing; even the ‘not-date’ was a great start. “So Locksley, Truth or Dare?” She asked coyly grabbing her beer and taking a drink.

Getting introduced to Joe was a nice change of pace compared to J.J. and Lexi found herself smiling as she shook Joe’s hand. “It’s a pleasure as well.” She said politely as she tucked her hands into the pockets of her jackets. Joe seemed a lot more comfortable to be around; not to mention kinder compared to J.J. Then again not everyone can be kind. Soon the two began their adventure to overlook the place. His comments about wanting King Pin to be an old fashion mafia style man made her giggle and she gave his arm a small pull to indicate that she understood he was doing it to reveal the tension and to tell him it worked.

It was funny to watch Peter, her Peter; Peter Parker, do such in just the blink of an eye. Would old Peter be able to look death in the faced and make a joke about it? Probably not but to see him so confident was very appealing. They slid inside the room and two began to search, she gave him a nod with a smile before going to look. Stripping off her coat she began to weave her way through boxes and storage units, using her light weight and small frame to squeeze into incredibly small spaces. Huh… this place was full of old paper creation things, presses and imprints were everywhere. Spider webs everywhere as she worked her way through.

Coming back out of the crawling area, Lexi dusted herself off and called to Peter, “Peter, there’s an air duct but I think only I can fit through it. Do you want me to block it off or leave it as an easy way in? It’s blocked behind a lot of heavy things so they’d have to be light weight and very strong or as light weight and easily move-able like me. What do you think?”
Cold beer, warm day, baseball AT THE FIELD and… well good company. This wasn’t that bad of a day for Marian as she settled into her seat. A small sigh of comfort left her as she felt her body relax and she took a long deep drink of her beer. She was here, she was at the stadium and… well she’s with Robert – could be worse really. She could be with Edward. Maybe Robert wasn’t as bad as he made himself out to be. She felt surprisingly comfortable around him and with his willingness to step in between her and Edward she felt – almost like – she could be protected. How weird.

He didn’t ask her father… well now. That’s taking a walk on a very dangerous side with the man who’s been rather trigger happy with the whole Robin Hood thing. Poor Robin, stuck with her father attempting to hunt him down; good thing he had Marian on his side… but Robert was on the side of her father. It’s surprising to hear about him ‘breaking the rules’ his comment made her raise a blonde eyebrow up to him. “Surprised to hear you walk on the wild side like that Locksley…” She gave him a little nudge, “I like it.”

They stood politely with their hats off as the anthem played and the crowd (along with the two on the not-date) before sitting back down in the seats. His comment about her never being to a game made her laugh again as she stuck her hat back on her head, “You just can’t let that go can you??” She asked playfully before continuing with a shrug, “Um… I’ve never… let’s see…”

“Why if it isn’t Miss Marian Anderson.” An older man’s voice said in their direction and Marian turned around to see Governor Lyon giving her a small wave from the walk way. “Lovely to see you.”

“Hello Governor!” Marian called back in surprise. “It’s nice to see you again.” She returned the wave with a small.

“Nice to see you out and about young lady. I was worried your father had put you on house arrest.”

“Well, when you go out with someone you trust your father tends to look the other way…”

“I’m sorry,” The Governor said quickly realizing that there was a young man staring at him, “I didn’t realize you were out on a date… I’ll be on my way. I must use the men’s room before the game goes too far. Enjoy the game, I’m sorry I interrupted.”

“No you didn’t…” It was too late; the Governor had left the area and headed towards the bathroom. She fell back into her chair feeling a bit defeated; her blue gaze moved back to Robert as she gave him a soft smile, “My dad and Governor Lyon went to college together.” She said with a small shrug. “Hopefully he doesn’t have him on speed dial or our ‘walk on the wild side’ could turn into my phone exploding.” A laugh left her before she shifted in her seat. “As for things I haven’t done… I’ve never been on the back of a motorcycle. I’ve never been to the top of the Empire State Building and I have never had ice cream in central park. Tried to convince someone…” Robin Hood, “To meet me in Central Park for ice cream but they turned me down. Sad really but oh well.” She said with a shrug before giving him a playful nudge. “What about you?”
    It's okay I understand.

“I can’t believe my parents put me up to this…”

“Well shit-head, had you found a girlfriend by now; much less a wife or at least a fiancé, you wouldn’t be here. You were the one who agreed to it after all…” A black messy short haired girl with pale skin and thick black makeup replied as the two stood looking out the window of the large house overlooking the drive-way.

“Well got me over to Great Britain to spend some time with you; you sure Chuck won’t mind?”

“I told him everything before I said yes; he thinks it’s a good idea because if you really want to walk away from this with someone you need to know who they are when you’re around and when you’re not. Who’s best to tell you then me? I’m your inside girl.”

    “Thanks again for this Rach.”

    “You owe me so much.”

“I’ll come to your next gig, I promise.”

“Good than we’re even. Chuck can’t wait to play the guitar you got him; he’s really excited.”

“Made a good wedding present I think.”

The two shared a good laugh before they hugged and parted ways. Let the show begin…

A man in a suit stood at the edge of the driveway grinning from ear to ear as the first limousine pulled up; he pulled the door open to welcome the first woman. A pale young girl with light blue hair climbed out of the car staring up at the house in wonder. After a short lived conversation with the man in the suit she was ushered into a room with a camera and a person recording.

“Hello, I am Gabbie Atkins, I’m 23 years old and I’m a waitress at a small café in London.” Her smile was warming and her brown eyes twinkled as she talked to the person in front of her. “My hobbies include bike riding, hanging out with my friends and enjoying a good cup of tea in the morning. My education stops after high school and I just enjoy the simple things in life… I’ve come here really hoping to find a connection with the young American man and hopefully find true love.” Gabbie was then excused from the recording and lead through the house wheeling her things and was told about how everything will work while she was there. Cameras were set up high and pointed out; stated very clearly that their privacy would be respected to their physical experiences but everything else will be recorded. She then was left to her room with another bed in order to unpack.

Another limousine pulled up and out climbed an incredibly bubbly looking redhead. She was greeted by the man in the suit whose hand she shook intensely with a beaming smile across her full lips. Her gaze then turned to the large house and her brown eyes expended in shock, “WOW!” She quickly followed the man inside and took the place that Gabbie was in before.

“Hello, I’m Kristiana Martin, but my friends call me Krisi with a K. and I’m 25 years old.” She said with a grin before running a hand through her hair. “I’m just a good girl who wants to be friends with everyone. I love making new friends and meeting new people. I also know that being friends is the start towards passion in a relationship; I just hope the bachelor and I get a chance to talk build a friendship before we jump into something as serious as an engagement. My hobbies are reading, dancing and I’ve been told I’m a heck of a good cook.” After the recording Krisi received the same explanation from the man in the suit before being let into the room where Gabbie was the two began to talk as they unpacked.

Another limousine pulled up; this time the man in the suit was greeted by quite a surprise. The black haired girl with the intense make up climbed out of the back of the car. She was dressed in all black and chains, quite a different look compared to Gabbie’s yellow sundress and Krisi’s dark blue jeans and white shirt. “Yo.” She said giving the man a head nod before looking up at the house. “Better have a bar.” With that she walked in front of the man in the suit and straight into the house.

“Yo, I’m Rachel Watson; I’m 26 years old and I moved here to Great Britain when I turned 18. I’m the lead singer of a Rock band called *** ****** ****; what? I can’t say what band? You censored it? Well that’s f***ed up. Oh you’re going to censor my cursing too? Man you’re going to have a f***ing blast keeping up with my foul mouth. I’m here for booze and bull****. Making new friends is fun and I thought why the f*** not. My hobbies include drinking, singing and playing guitar. So yeah, that’s f***ing me and if you don’t like it you can p*** off.” Upon her finishing her entrance interview she was lead out; the man in the suit shaking his head and running his hand across his face saying something about wondering how on earth she got on the show and all she could do was grin as she entered her room and began to unpack waiting for her roommate.

This time a white limousine pulled up and out climbed the bachelor, the one and only Gray Yin. Climbing out he shot the hand of the man in the suit, “Hello Andy, thanks for hosting.” Gray said with a beaming smile across his face as he watched his stuff getting unloaded.

“No problem Gray, glad I was chosen because this should be fun and I hope you find someone out of this.”

“That’s my hope too.” Gray responded with a smile as Andy led him inside.

“Hello Great Britain; I’m Gray Yin and my father is the inventor of quite a few software programming’s and computer systems. I won’t bore you with the details but I’m his son. I also have a doctorate in Software Engineering and am working on a computer program that will help the hospitalities diagnose their patients based on gathered information and updated information based upon discoveries.” He let out a small laugh hanging his head, “Here I said I wouldn’t bore you, I’m sorry. Anyway I’m here in hopes to find someone I can call my wife. As my parents like traditions along with new age thinking, they have come up with this idea to make a show out of it. Yes… this was my parents’ idea and, in case you’re wondering, they chose the girls out of the applicants so I know nothing about anyone. I’m 28 years old and my hobbies include dancing, playing video games, working on electronics and learning; whether it’s others teaching me or researching myself and… well I love to joke around. Some people may call me a prankster or whatever but I love making people laugh and laughing myself. I’m a lot to handle and we’ll see if people are up for the challenge…” With that he gave an innocent shrug before shooting the camera a playful wink and exiting the interview room.

He had a dinner and small party to night to meet everyone. Dinner first followed by a dance floor under the stars. Time to get settled in before the real party began.
