“Maybe a mental health day would be good for you.” Serge replied not taking his eyes off the screen as he typed away. “You have been through more than the average person in less than 24 hours so it should come as no surprised that you would be stressed about it. Finding out your father is nearly the next president of the United States after not having a father figure to begin with can cause quite a stir for you.” His fingers continued to type away as he talked.

Much like Lu, he was used to multi-tasking except his environment wasn’t the same as hers. Instead he was used to having several people to talk to him at once, all needing instant answers to their highly important questions about security and tasks while he was doing something else. So this, this was nothing new for him. In fact it was easier than most situations and required much less thought. Soon he was finished with his report and sent it off to explain what was happening and closed the laptop with a gentle click.

Rising to his feet, he stretched upwards for a moment before letting his arms fall to his side. Without saying much, he turned on his heel and started into her kitchen. After some gentle clanging around in her kitchen, the smell of tea came floating out before the man emerged with two coffee mugs filled with tea. He placed the mug softly on the end table next to her seat before taking a seat on the couch as well.

Reaching out a foot, he gave the air-mattress a gentle nudge. “Normally we bodyguards do not sleep during our shifts with clients. If you are insistent that I sleep than I will request that you leave your bedroom window locked and your door open. I am a fairly light sleeper to begin with but if you want your door shut all the way I will not be able to hear if something happens through the wood.” He nodded as he took a drink of the tea and settled back against the couch. “I will leave that at your digression, just like whether you take a mental health day or not.”
You lead the way and I’ll do the smashing. He said which caused her to smirk. “A true dragon slayer.” She said sounding almost proud of him before her blue gaze looked upward towards the flying cat. A nod rose and fell her head. “Be brave Valier, I’ll bring your friend back.” With that she took off deeper into the machine as it stomped towards the Guild.

“If we can destroy the cannon we’ll have the advantage. They may not be a big guild but their fire power does give them a big upper hand. But with it down and you fighting alongside us… well they don’t stand a chance.” A smirk stayed implanted on her face as they continued their run through the machine. Every now and then when they would come to a cross-point she would stop and look around before making a decision and leading him in one direction.

“The monkey brains aren’t exactly most intelligent and rely mainly on their weapons so I doubt anyone will be here and it’s expected to go off on its own or by a trigger from the main land when the shot is lined up.” As they rounded a corner the sound of a turret echoed. BANG BANG BANG the gun went off and Taunie jumped out of the way. Using her good arm she conjured a chain and yanked it from the wall after throwing the chain around the corner. The gun flew away and smashed against a wall before making a whining noise as it stopped functioning. “Well they were somewhat prepared, I’m surprised.”

With that they pressed onward before coming to the center room and finding the cannon. “Alright,” She said before giving a pained expression and holding her shoulder. “Smash it.”
Poor Axel. His head was pounding, his heart as thumping in his chest and now his back hurt. Something from a distance called out but he was too head-spinning to hear it. His large hand rose from his side and placed against his head as he let out a loud groan. “Uuuuggghhhhh……” The young man groaned again as he rubbed his head before the sound of crunching echoed in his ear. “Huh?”

His silver uniform, with black arm bands reflected in the fallen sun as he listened to the footsteps getting closer his location. Body tensing the young man slowly turned towards the noise to see a girl stumbling towards him. It wasn’t until she arrived to him that he realized he was found out. Oh Alexander was going to be mad at him for getting spotted by a human right away.

Her panic was understandable. Most humans wouldn’t fully understand what just happened and he could empathize with their shock. After all, he really liked humans despite his position and how the other gods in his line of work feel about humans. “Hey.” He said softly, his large hand moving from his face to her hand, gently placing it on hers. “Hey I’m okay, please calm down. I just fell.” Fell, that’s good enough right. “Now I have a massive headache and an achy back.” Doing his best to give a small laugh to the situation he slowly sat up.

A small groan left him as he did so but soon they were level with one another, “I’m sorry I disturbed your evening.” He said blinking a couple times as he pulled his hand from her and rubbed his face. His gaze turned to her before he stopped, freezing as he stared at her wondering hazel eyes. Stars… stars… STARS! He can see STARS in her eyes!! The king’s voice echoed in his mind, “ The answers you seek lie in the eyes of the goddess.”

“Your eyes are incredible…” He found himself saying as he stared at her before his face turned red with embarrassment and he looked away, the air around him changing to one of shyness and embarrassment. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to stare.”
A defeated sigh left Rayne as listened to her talk. First, she denied that she was crying and now she was speaking in the proper suffixes to him. As she examined his face with her fingers, he kept his arms around her holding her close. She seemed surprised to see him while her brother showed him pictures of her during some of their social media chats that way he could spot her in a crowd. Apparently her brother did not give her that same courtesy.

“Lily.” He said as he pulled his arms from around her and placing his large hands gently against her cheeks. “It’s Rayne. Not Rayne-san, Rayne-kun or any other suffixes. It’s just Rayne. We’ve known each other for too long to be formal. Please stop.” His tone was a strange mix of assertiveness and sadness. Something he used quite often to get his way and was something he had worked hard to figure out how to do.

A small laugh left him as he ran his thumbs along her face, “And stop lying, you know I can see straight through it. But enough about that,” He pulled himself to his feet and slung his bag over his shoulder before offering her a large hand. “Let’s go get some food.”

Pulling her to her feet, he laced his fingers into hers and pulled her back to the front of the school and to the parking lot to his car. “Alright, settle in.” He said as he locked the door with his key fob from his pocket and opened the passenger’s side door of his red Maserati with a cheesy and typical Rayne grin.
