The power of a dragon slayer was quite a quite an intense sight. Surrounded by his magic, she could feel him pulling from all angles of the earth even under the water demanding its response, demanding its help and in full control of his abilities. As things began to fly around them and the land particles began to make their way through the air, she brought an arm up and covered her face in a protective manner.

Crash!! The impact shook the machine as he made contact and even Taunie struggled to keep herself from falling over. “Wow!” She yelled as she watched his magic. He was impressive, there was no doubt about that and he was talented but right now there was a lot more that she needed to focus on.

As his destruction continued, the walking machine under their feet began to shake and crumble. From the ceiling feel a large piece giving her a good thump against her arm. “Uuuggghhh….” She cringed under her breathe gritting her teeth in pain. “Stupid… piece of s…” She muttered as she gripped her shoulder in pain. As the machine began to crumble, she called out to him. “Hey! We gotta go before this place falls apart!”
A small pout of disappointment moved across his face. Not because of her reaction, nor was it because she said she liked it or questioned its size. Simply because, as far as he was concerned, she had put it on the wrong finger but he mentally shrugged. Now was not the time to bring up something like that. Instead he needed to joy her company and have some fun. They can always talk about it some other time. But her excitement was more than what he could ask for.

His arms tightened around her as she leaned across the table and gave her back a gentle rub. A smile moved across his face as he settled back into his seat and watched her gush a bit over the ring. People around them gave ‘awes’ and ‘aws’ seeing the exchange by the two young ones but… well let’s face it, he didn’t care. He wasn’t doing this for show, he wasn’t doing this because he felt he had to, and this wasn’t happening without some form of meaning behind it.

Her response of giving him and his family gifts made him chuckle. “I’m flattered, and I’m sure my family will be too. Mom was super excited to hear you were coming back into town and Dad says he misses your laugh in the house. Atsuma grunted and Kenton grinned; so I’m assuming both of those are good signs.” Rayne grinned rightly as their food arrived and be begun to dig into his food.

“What classes do you have?” He asked between some bites.
Her comments about him taking a bullet for someone increases his job pay made him chuckle, an honest chuckle that he typically didn’t show. For some reason he felt comfortable around her; which was a new and weird experience compared to what he was used to with some of the obnoxious women he’d had the displeasure of being around.

Listening to her talk seemed to put a lot of things in perspective. He really didn’t have much luck at dating. Sometimes… because of his father’s position and his mother’s stance in society, he would find himself going out on dates that he didn’t pick himself and that he wasn’t prepared for… then there was that one time that he picked out his own date and that… well that didn’t end well either. He couldn’t tell who had worse taste in women, his parents or himself.

A small smirk moved across his face as his sharp blue gaze turned her look at her when she called him handsome. Normally he got called other things like ‘hot’, ‘sexy’ and other things but ‘handsome’ was a rare one considering it was what he would consider to be a more sophisticated response. Which is why he would rather call a woman ‘cute’ or ‘beautiful’ instead of ‘sexy’ or ‘hot’; those are words that do not normally come out of his mouth.

“Thanks.” He called to her with a gentle smile. “I needed that more than I thought I did.” With that he finished his tea and rose to his feet. “I am going to go hop in the shower. You are going to sleep with your door open so I can get some sleep correct?” He said with a chuckle as he got up and stretched his arms to the ceiling with a long overdue sigh of relaxation. Then he disappeared into the bathroom and began to take his shower.

It wasn’t until he finished the shower before he realized he didn’t bring his bag in. His shower wasn’t more than ten minutes long but oh well. He didn’t have time for luxury; he was still on the job. Wrapping the towel tightly around his waist he stepped out of the bathroom and went into the living room. “I forgot my bag.” With that simple statement he returned back into the bathroom with his bag over his shoulder.

Minutes later he emerged once again wearing a pair of pajama bottoms and a black loose t-shirt. Nothing fancy but it was comfortable. He gently placed his bag down on the floor next to his makeshift beg and checked his watch. “What is the wake up time captain?”
She was so much nicer than the gods in the heavens. Maybe it was just because she was a former goddess or maybe humans weren’t all bad like what he dealt with in his job. A smile moved across his face as he rubbed his head with the ice pack. Hearing her with animals didn’t surprise him; in fact he was more surprised that she didn’t have more cats. Not because she could be a ‘crazy cat human’ but because cats are drawn to her. Something inside of him knew that she was at a zoo the cats would probably press themselves up against a glass trying to get her to touch them. But you can’t exactly explain that to someone what he needed to explain to her.

Her explanations made him nod as he listened to her. “Sounds like fun.” Then she said she wanted to know what he would enjoy. His brows push together in the thought. He honestly didn’t know. Axel wasn’t sure how long he would be here and how much he needed to try to fit in. The problem of it would be that he would need to be able to see her again. “I… I really don’t know.” He said softly, his voice filled with sadness. To be honest, this is the most he’s been out and about since everything happened. “I enjoy sights, sounds and smells. Especially smells. Anything that smells good tends to get my attention. I have a keen nose for good scents.”

At that, his head jerked up sniffing the air, the scent of food filled the air of the house and his face flushed. “I’m really, sorry. I seemed to have shown up when you were making dinner. I apologize for the inconvenience I’ve caused you.” His voice was soft and almost fragile. He was the youngest one in the group, however he was much older than her if you were to ‘age’ him but he still had a lot of softness to him. “I don’t wish to take up too much of your time but I’ll be pretty lost without knowing where to go. Do you have any other suggestions that’s more based around smells?”
Watching her gush over his food made him smile, correction it made him beam. She liked his food and to him that was really important. He loved the idea that he could impress her with his cooking and used those looks that smile, as a motivation to continue with his studies. If he could make her happy with his cooking that was just one of the many ways he could return the happiness she gave him.

However, her sudden exit from the kitchen after admitting that he was quote ‘popular with the ladies’ said something more. His head jerked back slightly as he processed what she had said. Now James may not be the brightest when it comes to women, he may not recognize when someone was hitting on him or giving him ‘the look’, but he was aware enough to know when certain things were said that he needed to pay attention to him. Taking a moment to register it, he rose to his feet and walked to the doorway of the kitchen and watched her scrub away on the pans.

A smile moved across his face as he walked up behind her. Reaching around her, he slowly took the sponge from her hand and dropped it into the sink. His arms gently wrapped around her waist and his forehead rested against the back of her head, an honest smile across his face. Leaning around her, he placed his chin gently on her shoulder and whispered softly to into her ear. “Freya… are you jealous?” His gentle breath softly dancing on her ear and neck as smiled.
Upon the end of the taste testing, the two gathered their tester’s papers and read them over. The two took the seats that the girls were at and ate over the left over pieces for themselves. James ended up with the same cut as Freya had and instantly noticed the difference. His face cringed slightly and his blue gaze turned to Rebecca who had asked what was wrong.

It took him a moment to figure out his proper wording, he wasn’t dealing with a chef in the kitchen, he was dealing with a fellow student and the last thing he wanted to do was come across as a know-it-all. He used the excuse of ‘still chewing’ to pick his words kindly. Surprisingly enough, James’ wording didn’t hurt her feelings and they were able to use the feedback provided by the girls to aid their final grade!

“James really is an amazing cook.” Molly said as if she was gushing towards the door. Her actions were those of flirtatiousness and her voice held a dreamy tone. “He’s always so attentive during class and so smart.” It wasn’t long before Molly went on and on about how popular James was in class, not really caring where Freya may sit on the level of importance to James.

Soon the two students came back out to living room looking over the papers.

“Thank you both for your input. We have fantastic suggestions to make an A meal. Thank you both for your help.” James said with a nod of thanks before handing Rebecca a couple bags. “Thank you for bringing the supplies, I’ll clean up.” With that he ushered the two women out the door and shut it behind them with a click of a lock.

Once back inside he flopped down on the couch and turned his gaze to Freya. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize Rebecca gave you her plate. Would you like a plate of mine?”
Unlike Rebecca who seemed to be rocking back and forth on her heels waiting for the girls to give their impressions, James had unintentionally dived into butler mode as he smoothly put together two small plates of the main course. His body moved with practice and grace and it was obvious for the new girls in the house that it was attention grabbing. That and he was in jeans, apparently him in jeans was a sight for girls who didn’t see him in out of his standard dress clothes. He could feel a set of eyes on him every once and a while and when he looked back, all eyes would be off of him. Odd…

Soon they were finished with their notes and Rebecca removed the plate of appetizers. Next was the main course which they each got their own plates with a small portion. “Take your time; we have enough of it to give you more servings if you want to focus on only a couple questions at a time.” James said with a nod as he stepped back from the girls to let them do well.

“James?” Rebecca whispered as they stood off to the side. “Do you have any plans for the coming spring break?”

    “Actually I…”

“Because I was thinking you and I should hang out sometime. Maybe go out, get something to eat, spend the day at the park…”

“I’m flattered,” He said softly before shaking his head, “But I’m going to have to turn you down. I have a date over spring break I have to plan for and that’s going to take up most of my time. I’m sorry.” He said with a nod before looking back at the girls as they tried the food and instantly changed the topic back to the food and the project despite the disgruntled look from Rebecca. Obviously that wasn’t the response that she had wanted and it was apparently that he didn’t care.
As the two worked in the kitchen they made idle chat between discussing the meal. Questions about who Freya was and why she was here instead of another friend were the general questions that she was attempting to lead into through many different avenues. After a few minutes, James realized he had left Freya out in the living room with someone she didn’t know and no way to relax. “Pardon me.” James said quickly excusing himself out of the kitchen and into the hallway.

Pulling open the hallway closet door he grabbed a handful of suckers and went back to the living room after kicking the door shut. “Here,” He said with a smile placing the large handful of suckers down on the coffee table. “We can’t have anyone starving before the meal. Maybe see if you ladies can guess what kind of flavors these are.” With that he shot Freya a tiny wink before disappearing back into the kitchen.

“My apologies, where are we now?” He said to Rebecca as he came up beside her in the kitchen. Her actions were... odd to say the least, she kept trying to take the pans from him or the spoons he would be using for scooping things. And when he’d let go so she could take it, she wouldn’t. Man… girls were weird.

“Alright.” James called out from the kitchen. “Please come into the kitchen ladies, we’re ready.” With that he and a disgruntled Rebecca set the table in an elegant fashion (much like Freya was used to). James pulled out Freya’s chair and soon the appetizers were set in front of the girls and the two creators stood back to observe their responses.
