Ever tried to explain to someone something that only you understand; like a dream? Or an idea that only makes sense in your head, or a secret code that only you and a few other people could speak as well. Well that’s what it was like being a witch with a muggle family. Despite the fact that her parents had been to Diagon Alley and to the train at platform 9 ¾ but to her younger siblings, they didn’t quite understand.

“Astoria has to leave for school again? But but why?!” Her youngest siblings complained as they all sat at the breakfast table. The home was practically having a feast, the blonde and her matching male counterpart both prepared for their departure to their respective schools but the youngest siblings still didn’t understand why Astoria went so far away compared to her brother who could make weekend visits home. Explaining to them why they couldn’t visit was hard considering it was more of a ‘seeing is believing’ style of situation. And that was something she couldn’t show her siblings.

“It’s okay, I’ll be back for the holidays.” Was the way the blonde haired girl in the high pony tail responded as she munched away on her pancakes. The question arose asking if one of the siblings would ever be able to attend the school that Astoria was going to and she shrugged, her brother matching her motions in the twin-sort-of-way. Her brother was around longer then her younger siblings and saw his sister go into the magical world and knew things the younger siblings didn’t. And now, it wouldn’t surprise any of the family is one of the other children turned out to be magical and got a letter at 11 years old. Now they couldn’t count anything out.

Their mother huffed and puffed as she rubbed her belly, the newest member of their family growing inside and making her feel worn out due to the amount she had grown. A small laugh left Astoria as she got to her feet and helped her mom with the dishes. Soon the entire kitchen was clean as the siblings felt bad for their exhausted mother and always did what they could to help.

Because of her mother’s exhaustion, her father was the one to take her to the station so she said good bye to her siblings, crated her cat and hugged her mom tightly before climbing into the car. “I wish I could have used magic to help mom with the house…” She muttered under her breathe as she pouted out the window.

“Well kiddo.” Her father said with a small sigh but a bright smile. “We’d rather have you follow the law and continue your schooling then to lose this incredible opportunity.”

Her father, always the words of wisdom and she nearly giggled in response, “You’re right dad, thanks.” It wasn’t long before the two arrived at the train station, her father still nervous about walking through the wall but with the guidance of the daughter and being the one to push the cart; he was more than willing to do so for his little girl. The good bye was a bit disheartening as having such a parting ways with a large family was always hard. A deep sigh left her as she watched her dad awkwardly attempt to leave and even having to ask for directions on how to get out. Luckily people seemed a lot more kind now-a-days and she felt okay letting her father wonder out.

Climbing aboard the train, the blonde was in a pair of dark blue jeans, black sneakers and a bright yellow jersey sporting her class colors with pride along with the number 11 on the back. Her Quidditch number to be exact!

If there was one thing the young blonde hated it was being alone. So her hunt for a cart was based around one thing; which one had people in it. And of course, the first one she found was the one that held Skyler Gray. When it comes to interaction, they had some classes together and may have held from brief conversation but after so many school years together, it was hard not to know who each other was and being who she was; she was always up for moving an acquaintance to a friend. “Hello Skyler.” Her voice was bubbly and cheerful as she stepped inside the carriage. “Mind if I join you? Did you have a good summer?”

Her true love… her true love was standing right before her and the only thing she knew was that she needed to get to him. She needed to be near him, she needed to touch him and to never leave his side… never doubt his intentions… never turn her back on him… never stop… never stop… loving him….

    Thud!

The blonde was fumbled forward by a shove from someone beside her and the shout of a man’s voice rang through her ears and like glass shattering, the blonde’s vision became whole again. Her head shook slightly and she placed a palm against her forehead. What was that? Was that… charm magic? Her chocolate gaze moved towards the man’s hand and saw something that caught her attention, but this time it didn’t catch her love. For now she was aware and awareness was the key to avoiding charm magic.

As the girls yelled at the man, her gaze moved to him, honestly if it wasn’t for him she would still be under the charm spell. So when he turned to leave, she hurried to fall into step with him catching that he made a comment about ‘so much for eating’.

“Hey, thanks for your help back there.” Her smile was bright and cheery, nothing new for the blonde but unlike what she used with the shopkeeper, this was honest and true. “That creep was using some form of charm magic and had you not broken into the crowd yelling and running into me I never would have recognized it. So thanks. Let me repay you by buying you and your friend a nice meal.”

The allure of food was enough to pull the two into the nearby restaurant and Lucy made the upmost mistake of allowing them to order what they wanted. While her plate was of a regular size and she seemed to eat more like a bird than others at the restaurant her table companions were a completely different story. They were powering food like no tomorrow and a visible drop of sweat could be seen on the blonde’s face. “You should probably eat a little slower or you’re going to get sick.”

“You see, I’m here passing through to get to Mongolia. My goal is to become an official wizard and join the most popular guild in the world.” There was no doubt that the idea of joining Fairy Tail was always on the forefront of the blondes mind as she practically swooned over the idea. “Fairy Tail is the best guild in the world and they’re always featured in Sorcerer weekly. They’re the best and coolest guild out there and if I can convince them to let me join I think I just might die!”

The realization that she could be talking to a non-magical person dawned on her, she waved her hand; “I’m sorry, this all may sound like gibberish to you but trust me, if I could get in that would be the best.” A nod rose and fell her head as she placed her elbows on the table and folded her hands together, her eyes twinkled with the thought of joining such a proper and amazing guild. The glitter in her eyes said that she loved the idea of joining the guild. “Anyway.” Placing the money down on the table, she rose from her seat and grabbed her bag. “Thanks for your help today. Take care.”

Good god Elias knew how to play Serge’s cards right, and the blonde glared at his friend and colleague as the younger man dashed up to the stairs to the guest bedroom. A long sigh left him as he closed his eyes, seeming to find annoyance in the situation…

That was until he heard his daughter giggle.

His blue eyes opened to see that Lu had scooped up his daughter and began to carry her on her back. Giggles of joy leaving the small child as she wrapped her arms around Lu’s neck and the two walkers and one monkey began their adventure through his house and into the kitchen. “Every parent is protective of their children. I’d rather you be here than Elias snoozing on your couch while you went to the laundry mat.” He admitted as they rounded the corner and the large open kitchen was exposed.

The kitchen’s large window showed into a backyard with a jungle gym, a small basketball area and even a pool big enough to do laps in. Inside the kitchen was a long island in a U shaped, the stove top with 6 burners located on the U shape with a large refrigerator against the wall and a double sink, a dishwasher built into the counter and an oven built into the shelving with a microwave on the counter top. It was a nice kitchen for someone who obviously enjoyed cooking. On the island was a cutting board that had freshly washed lettuce, diced up cucumbers, chucks of bell peppers, diced up celery sticks and a freshly made looking Italian dressing.

“Have you ever had daddy’s homemade dressing Lu?” Eve asked from over her shoulder as her small finger pointed towards the bottle. It looked like a wine bottle however it was labeled ‘Italian dressing’. “Daddy makes wonderful dressings and one day he’s going to teach me how to make them. Aren’t you daddy?”

An honest chuckle left Serge as he nodded, “Yes love, as I promised I will when you turn ten.” A small squeal of joy left the little girl as they arrived at the island, two chairs up against the counter top allowing for people to chat while he cooked. As the girls took the seats, per his gesture, he retrieved another plate.

Making two plates and topping them with some dressing, he placed them both in front of the girls along with a bowl of freshly cut fruit and Eve happily dug in while Serge whipped himself up a plate of the salad and a bowl of fruit in no time flat. “Elias hasn’t been causing you any trouble outside of loading you up into his car did he? I hadn’t realized he had so little sleep from his last assignment or I would have called Ron.” A small sigh left him, the look on his face stating he was disappointed in himself for not being more aware of his team. “Poor kid…” He muttered softly before shaking his head as he re-corked the bottle.

“Anyway, you have laundry to do?” His attempt to make conversation even left his daughter to giggle. She wasn’t buying his attempt but seemed to understand where he was coming from as she scarfed down her meal with glee.
Cassandra flinched as he ripped the map from her and unrolled to explore its contents. She spent weeks coping every detail as closely as she could from the book and granted, she didn’t know much about the seas or the proper measurements for measuring but despite all of that, it was a carbon copy of what was in the book even if the measurements by be a small bit off. Obviously an amateur in the distance measurements; however the placement and design of the markings was spot on.

However, as he pulled out a coin and asked if she was gambling person; she felt her stomach turn. Oh god was her life really going to be left up to chance!? Her sea-green eyes never left the coin until it disappeared behind his back. Her gaze never broke from his, looking for any signs of tom-foolery as he brought his hand forward and folded it open for them both to see, their gaze turned downwards in unison to see…

    Tails.

    She lived for now.

The announcement of ‘hands off the lass’ allowed her to breathe a shaky breathe of relief. Oh thank god. She mused to herself as he tipped it hat to her. Unsure of how to respond, she did what she was taught… which may have not been the best response but it was more automatic than anything else. She picked up the front of her tattered dress a bit from her heels and gave him a small polite curtsy. It didn’t last long before she dropped the dress fabric and quickly fell into step with him; she was in the belly of the beast and the teeth seemed safer than the claws.

By claws, she meant the crew and she took a minute to take them all in as she followed, perhaps too close to the captain as she gently thumped into him as he stopped and took control over them men again. She peered over his shoulder, a bit difficult as he stood a good head taller than her, to see the two men spring into action. The ability the young captain had to control the ship was impressive to say the least but… teeth can bite and she needed to be careful. The playful finger felt more like leading a pray into a trap but she didn’t have much of a choice. Following closely in step with the captain she kept her observations minimal but were surprised to notice the handful of women among the crew. They weren’t any better off than the men and they didn’t seem to care that she was in the situation at hand; of course no one would. It’s her fault she was here anyway but she found herself wanting to talk to them despite their lack of wanting to talk to her… however she had matters to attend. But for now, she was safe.

The inside of the ship… surprised her to say the least; and she didn’t hide her shock as her mouth fell open to find an interior far from what she had been expecting, her eyes instantly finding the library section with books; books being her only means of escape for so long they do hold a special place her heart, and a small, “Wow…” Left her full lips as her pace slowed as the heavy door shut behind them and she felt the weight of the man behind her.

A small cough left as she ventured further inside in an attempt to put some comfortable distance between them… then again the ocean wasn’t big enough to make her comfortable in this situation as the more she realized she was no longer in the frying pan, she also realized she might have been thrown into the fire with just one man. No, no fear. No fear Cass! You have to be strong. Pushing her fear to the back of her mind, knowing it will only escalate the situation worse, she pulled herself upright and stood talk and sure of herself for she was speaking to something she knew.

“My name is Cassandra, Captain.” Seemed pointless to give a fake name. “And my story is I need money.” Feeling as though that was a good enough answer, she backed up until she felt the table behind her. Not taking her eyes off of him, she walked around it to insure there was some space between them and placed down the book. Her hand stayed firmly on the cover as she gestured towards the open spot on the table. “The map?” For he still had it in his possession. “I’m curious to see how well it lines up to other maps, and you would know the seas better then I. I can just read the book.”

Taking in a deep breath, she decided to elaborate a little more. “With your knowledge of the seas, Captain,” Sure he seemed like he could be an arrogant prick but right now she needed this arrogant prick to work with her. So her use of ‘Captain’ was presented in a respectable tone. “And my knowledge of Latin, we can find the island, get safely through the temple and, more importantly, back out. The map is jibberish to me, for the most part. But this…” Her palm lifted from the hard cover as she pointed on it with a firm finger, the thump causing specks of dust left the pages in a puff. “this is as clear as fine gin to me.” Pulling her finger off of the book, she flipped it open to the first page. Et Thesauri Balidor; Nauta Verum Sale Est Scriptor ---- The Treasures of Balidor; a Sailor's True Tale.” To prove her point, she picked up the book and flipped open to the first page. Ad incipiam te itineribus. Et caput satus sicco per Fiore Septentrionalis Portus ab oriente et North ante petere debitum rudem nodis 3.5 ad 6.5 Oriente vorticibus de Cove Farmore transiens off per I nodum iter ante Septentrionalis iterum.” Taking in a deep breath, she translated, “To begin your travels. Start out in Fiore Port and head North by North East for 3.5 knots before heading due East for 6.5 knots passing Farmore's Cove for 1 knot before traveling North again.” Keeping the book open, a palm supporting the back of the older looking book and her hand between the two pages, she turned the book from across the table to show him the hand written text inside. “I don’t quite understand what tying ropes has to do with North and North East, but I know where Farmore’s Cave is and I feel like I marked it on the map properly.” Turning the pages for him to see, there were about 10 pages of a drawn out map that was, at one point, cut into book size pages and placed inside the bindings for safe keeping, however all the text visible was, in fact, in Latin.

Feeling as though she might not be able to ask him any personal questions since… she wasn’t in the position to do so at this point in time, she asked a non-personal questions. “What do knots have to do with directions? Do you have to tie rope a certain way to get the ship to go in a different direction?” And you wanna know what’s sad? Her question was an earnest one as she turned her gaze from the book up to him.

“Stupid old geezer wouldn’t know beauty if it bit him in the behind…” A surprisingly grumpy looking blonde stormed down a side street of the City of Hargeon. Her small hands balled up onto fists as she stomped down the road. Her blonde hair blew behind her shoulders her small half pony tail sitting high on her hair in her blue ribbon, her deep brown eyes staring down at the ground as she thumped her way nearly sending off fire in every direction.

And this… this was Lucy Heartfilia.

She was a bit grouchy because she attempted to use her famine ways, which never fails by the way, to win over the shopkeeper to give her a discount on a gate key she really wanted. The poor blonde was hoping for more of a discount since she still wasn’t an official wizard yet but that’s why she was venturing to Fiore because she had one goal, to join the most popular girl of all.

“Salamander from Fairy Tail is in town!” A girl shrieked to her friend as the two whizzed by the blonde.

Lucy’s gaze shot up. Fairy Tail?! The thought moved through her head before she let out a shriek of excitement. “They’re the best! And Salamander’s in town. I wonder if I could talk him into getting me into Fairy Tail.” Fluffing her appearance she hurri9ed after the two girls, hot on their tail to learn the location of the famous guild’s wizard.

Fairy Tail was always the top guild within Sorcerer Weekly, Lucy’s religious reading, featuring many of their girls within the cover spread and following the antics of the guild. Exploding cities, providing help through their jobs and always being surprisingly comfortable during interviews; some of the boys were ranked by their level of hotness and the most eligible bachelors while girls posed as models and conducted interviews. Mirajane was the best! And one day… ONE DAY, Lucy would be one of them. And maybe today would be that day.

Arriving just behind the girls at the scene, the blonde found that Salamander was circled by a crowd of women.

“Now now ladies settle down.” He called out, his voice ringing through the crowd as he turned and shot a wink towards the crowd. The girls within view swooned and a few in the area closest to him seemed to fall to the ground as they fainted. The man’s dark eyes scanned through the crowd as he flung his green cloak, the cloak flew with a grace and he spoke again, this time in a different direction, “It’s a pleasure to meet all of you and thank you for welcoming me to your town.”

As his hand grazed across his chin, he ended up leaning and looking in the direction of the group to his left; the group which Lucy was pushing her way through to try and get to him. They made eye contact for a split second before Lucy’s gaze glossed over and she felt herself getting light-headed and almost woozy with excitement. What’s wrong with me? My heart’s beating so fast… I can barely breathe… I can’t take my eyes off of him… Oh! He winked at me… is this… love? Her thoughts began to spin as she found herself drifting towards him as he announced something else about being involved with Fairy Tail. Again… another thing pulling her closer… closer to her one… true… love.

A bright and bubbly personality is the best way to describe Astoria. The bright cheery blonde is always someone to have a smile on her face, pep in her step and a giggle in her voice. Some people accuse her of being fake happy but that’s not the case. She’s just genuinely happy. With her outlook on life being a positive one and being at school learning MAGIC, how can you not be happy?!

The eldest of 6 children and a 7th on the way, Astoria grew up with a loving mom, a kind father and a caring grandmother and it wasn’t until she received her letter at 11 that she was discovered to be a witch. Her parents, the open minded individuals they were ventured with the young girl to shop within the magical world. It should come as no surprise that they were all a bit baffled and her twin brother Aston confused why he couldn’t go to the same school as Astoria. In all fairness, her parents handled it well but it also helped that her mother was an interpersonal communication professor at Oxford University and her father was a popular lawyer within the town as well. So her brother understood why he couldn’t go and the family was introduced to the magic world.

This thrilled Astoria, as she was a ten second younger then Aston and always got the short end of the stick from her brother and now she had a leg up on him. And that began their playful banter with each other, and even in letters back and forth they showed the playfulness. There are a set of triplets, three girls and a boy with another baby boy on the way.

Once in Hogwarts, the girl took to the classes like a fish to water. Excited to find herself picking up a broom for the first time, it was a challenge but she was able to do it and as soon as she was allowed to fly, she was gone. It didn’t take long for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team to catch wind of her talents on a broom and she was recruited as a Chaser during her second year. It was hard but she loved playing as much as she loved school.

Her studies took her to new heights and she was able to develop her skills as a witch and her social skills. The blonde quickly became known throughout her house as being approachable, talkative and reliable and by her third year she was known throughout most of the houses that she was easy to get along with. She loved talking to people so it wasn’t uncommon to find her leaving her friends to sit with someone who was by themselves, houses didn’t matter and she didn’t care; she wanted to be friends with everyone. Despite her desire to be friends with everyone, she has about 6 close friends and people she was willing to rely upon but that’s okay, she liked it that way.

Now in her 6th year she has a chance to participate in the Tri-Wizard Tournament and the goblet is now choosing two representatives instead of one from each school. HOW EXCITING!!!
