Lunatic+ gets all my nope. This run was for fun, if memory serves, since its difficulty is far too low for anything else xD
Heh, this has me going back to Awakening to continue another playthrough of the game xD Even though I told myself to play something else for a bit.
Jerod was speaking with some merchants over supplies of some sort or another. The list wasn't really his concern, he had been asked to go deal with the stuff by the local innskeeper of the district, in return, his room and board would be reduced. It was a helpful thing, considering he was a bit strapped for funds at the moment, damned religious naga worshippers had been a pain in his arse, constantly trying to sway him and otherwise condemn him, made finding work hard in most places. But, just as the merchant turned him away, he heard some commotion. Turning, he quickly analyzed the situation. Three, no, five men, ambushing some lad who looked too young to be holding that sword and fancy magic book of his. None watching their backs from intervention. Well, that simply wouldn't do, and he rested his hand on his sword, starting his run towards the combat. "Oi, ye brazen nutters! Over 'ere!" The sound of footsteps, fast footsteps, and the unsheathing of a sword was evident and two of the men turned in time to see a mail wearing warrior, brandishing an iron sword in a two handed grip, charging right into their attempted ambush. The man charging was tall, easily taller then the highest standing of the cravens ganging up on a youthful boy, even as armed as he was. Beneath the weather worn traveling cloak was a mail vest, lighter than the plate favored by man professional soldiers, but it provided protection enough for the man's purposes. He bore no mark of status, no identifying insigna as to some well known hero or villain, but he acted anyways. A swift, strong kick to the midriff sent one man stumbling back, and he locked sword against axe with the other, half grinning despite the situation. "No restin' lad, still got three of the sodders on yer end." A hard cross draw broke the stalemate, leaving a cut, not lethal, on the face of the man he had been locked blades with. The other fellow he had put the boot to was on his feet and re engaging, and Jerod moved fast, far faster than his frame would have belied, parrying and knocking him away again, turning to backstep from a downward swing, sparks flying from the mail coat as it caught the tip of the enemies weapon. A counter stroke was made, not felling the man yet, but at two of the lad's assailants were more then preoccupied right now, and given time, he would certainly best both of them. That much, Jerod was certainly confident about. So far, momentum and speed had carried the man, and he pressed this advantage, either striking or knocking away one foe or the other, alternating between the two to keep their focus on him. Three on one was bad enough, but five on one from two directions? Not fair at all, so Jerod was leveling the playing field for the young lad.
Likewise, we got ourselves a interesting, small merry band of folks to go off marching to war and all the good stuff in life along the way.
Penn was chuckling at the displays between South and Cal, as folks had taken to calling him. Penn was thinking on the mission parameters so far. A rescue mission in a high danger environment. Abandoned city, close quarters, not the best place for most folks when it came to high explosive weaponry. But that also meant potential ruins, blocked passageways that would need cleared to expediate target location and extraction. And that could also mean densly packed, target rich entrenched positions. So direct explosives, like rockets, were out for now. So that meant one thing, and it was one of his favorite pieces of gear to use. Grenade Launcher, fully loaded and with spare ammo to boot. Perfect. Secondary weapon, just like before, he favored a pair of suppressed pistols just in case people favored a quiet outing rather than a loud one. He could do both with the pistols, but grenade launchers generally were not subtle things. Beyond that, he set up a series of demo charges, malleable explosives, landmines, and hand grenades for a backpack unit for his overall kit. While he was doing all of this set up prior to entering the simulation, he chimed in on the back and forth from North and Cal, poking his fun over at North for his stereotypically defensive reaction, even in jest. "Hah, I love it when love blooms so early in life. Relax North, not like he'll be spending every night over in your room, keeping you awake all night long from the, ahem, physical training. Probably. In all seriousness though, sounds like a solid plan Cal, fine by me. Just try to keep the harem in check, yea?" Penn laughed easily, clearly not serious about the harem jab. He had been serious about the solid plan comment though, heading into the sim after having said his piece to Cal and North, joining the ones who had entered so far, walking over to the sim holo display which held a map of what he figured was the area they were dealing with, directing a question right towards Iowa. "Alright man, what are we looking at dealing with here? Specifics on intel, I know generally the mission difficulty rating already."
- Name: Jerod - Class: Mercenary - Age: 25 - Sex: Male - Appearance: - ![Primary Appearance](http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2014/084/6/1/blademaster_by_max_dunbar-d7bodp2.jpg "Jerod") - Equipment: Iron Sword x1 - Personality: Jerod is a very down to earth, spiritual in a general sense, and honest to a fault mind of man. Jerod tends to be the one to call someone out for some reason or another, whether its warranted or appropriate or not. While the man is slow to anger, the quickest way to do it is to confuse his spirituality with religious fervor. He actively shows disdain and distrust for any organized religion, preferring his own, unshared beliefs. But this doesn't mean Jerod is a necessarily bad or mean person, as often as he might come across it with his uncensored mouth and generally common, crude manner of speaking. He just doesn't know to portray himself that well, nor does he care to in the slightest. He would rather be despised for what he is, then loved for what he is not, and will gladly be the first to make that happen, and talk someone's ear off about it, if they get him started, which can usually be done after about 6 drinks at the local tavern. - Biography: Born to a group of bandits, one would have expected that Jerod would not have turned out much better. But, while he was a child, several warriors tracked down and slew the band of bandits, leaving the young child without family for a brief moment. The oldest warrior adopted the bandit child and took him in. Adopted by a bounty hunter, Jerod learned swordsmanship and other useful wildland skills, from tracking and trapping to skinning and scavenging. Once he was old enough to hold his own, his adopted father took him out hunting bandits and other criminals, letting him learn on the job opposed to just study and safe training. The next few years were of him going from place to place, bounty to bounty, focusing to zero in on his swordplay and swordplay alone. When his old man passed on to natural causes, Jerod took what he had been willed and left for greener pastures, as the saying went. Having been 17 after his father died, Jerod drifted across the land, visiting sites and locations of legend and notoriety. From battlezones to memorials and everything in between, learning the history of the world and earning a paycheck with his skill, used to work here at some point after all. Gimme a few. He made enough money to make ends meet and afford clothes and a place to rest for a night. He made a small name for himself as a reliable source, and kept well clear of any attempts to involve him with this new Church going around. Wasn't his thing still, so he didn't bother, not until he could verify looking didn't hurt. At the age of 25, he had done a lot of work and shrugged rather then let it get to his head something fierce. He eventually drifted into Yllise, to look for more sight seeing spots or some work to do when its now.
Yes, yes. You have all of my yes right now. Ever since I got Awakening on the 3DS probably almost a year ago now, been addicted to it to an unhealthy degree. I'll be onto a CS right away.
Seconded, up for either number one or three.
Penn smirked and shrugged as each person rattled off what they were good at, more so then usual when it came to Agents. Their forte, if one would use such words. He didn't brag when he responded to the circle of comments, no need to, even if he was one of those kind of people who did. Scoring top would secure that little thing well enough. "Explosive Ordinance, myself. If it explodes, I can handle it better than most. Not very subtle, but if you need to go loud, might as well go with some gusto, eh?" Penn elaborated a bit, having no problem chatting about his prior experience, as it were. "Used to do demo work for the UNFC for as long as I've been an adult, and gotten enough attention to make some waves for myself. Wouldn't be sitting here otherwise. Granted, someone's probably still miffed about that transport Warthog, but it got the job done. So if you need something to go boom, just give me a holler." He chuckled and shrugged, finally finishing his light breakfast as North and South continued to go back and forth before declaring to follow his idea. Er, well, it wasn't his idea, per say, and he corrected them on that as he rose up. "Afraid it wasn't my idea, but I'll be participating, sure as sure. So I'll see you folks down there, yea?" Penn turned and wandered off down towards the training decks, not moving at a hurried pace or anything like that. It still didn't take him long to get down there, nodding to Iowa as he arrived in the same training area as him. "Morning mate, what do you got planned for the training sims today, eh?"
"Do any of you mind if I intrude?" Penn had effectively come out of the woodwork, wearing his armor, a plate of food in one hand, helmet tucked under an arm, and datapad in the other. It looked like his hands were certainly full, that much was certain. The amount of food on his plate was not much, especially compared to South and her voracious appetite. High metabolism worked wonders, the Agent figured as he sat down to listen to the information being put out by North, as others had joined them and went about their own business. An interesting bunch of Agents, that much would be certain, sure as sure. It was strange, he knew other Agents would be looking his way now, wondering what put him so highly above everyone else. Not something he relished, nor would he. Too much attention on his comings and goings. As North mentioned the relaxation and break period they would be given, he seemed distrustful of it. The tests were supposed to be simple, and look how they turned out? No, this R&R period would probably turn out to be anything but resting or relaxing. Penn had barely touched his meal, between listening and logging notes on his own datapad, or otherwise continuing to organize his own information, to further decipher the reasoning or rational behind what the test wanted to accomplish. Stress testing didn't need to be that complicated, there was more to it then that. But Penn kept an easy smile on his face, not betraying his thoughts so readily as he spoke. "Figre most of us could use a few days to cool off and unwind, even with tests and such in between."
