I too shall have a post up sometime tonight or tomorrow. If not tonight, probably Wednesday. Tuesday happens to be my birthday, so might take a day off for myself.
I don't think we could kick off the first helicopter drop with anything better.
While the RPD is certainly a tempting option, actually had to go with a DP-28, even if it worse in pretty much every way in comparison to an RPD. Finally got him cranked out, time to go do some more in depth research on the DP-28 so I can write for it better.

So, slow as my responses seem to be to things, I know some question of a Maxim versus a DPM came up. Should I be using the DPM over the other here? (I am aware of the 1908 being heavier, better suited to defensive work, ect) or shall I stick to what was initially suggested?
Well, just woke up, see this is up, and have another character that needs getting written up then, sure as sure.
Ansgar, perhaps surprisingly, completely ignored the comment from the Arbites about following orders. Not all operations were founded on blind adherence, which might surprise some to hear from a Krieg born guardsman. However, between engineering and grenadier work, one quickly realized that the best laid plans go awry the fastest. Options meant one could shift to another plan in a hurry, but options for options sake was not a good thing.

Orders, however, were orders, plain and simple. The Krieger nodded briefly as the Celestian meted out her orders, staying to the original overall plan. "Understood, ma'am.". He was also not oblivious to the glare that he was receiving from the psyker, and while one might be concerned for their following generations, Ansgar wasn't. Krieg soldiers were not part of the reproductive efforts of Krieg, and Kriegers didn't retire from the Guard so they were never involved, not that most people outside of Krieg would be aware, or care for that matter. Cursing descendants that wouldn't exist was a rather entertaining waste of time though, at least to the Krieger.

Ansgar met her glare with an even look, eyes not even narrowing in irritation. It almost invited her to imagine a shit eating grin, lingering a second too long, showing absolutely no fear from a psyker with a problem with his rebuttal to her idea. Of course, there couldn't be that kind of grin, since what sort of Krieger would he be if he ever smiled?

Regardless of the truth of the matter, which shall be left to the imagination of those that had seen the exchange of looks between the two, Ansgar ignored the Imperial armor as they moved out. There were no vehicles suitable to a stealth operation present, so it did not cross his mind to lament what was not available for them to take. Doing another check of his Type XIV (Heavy), he was satisfied with the fact it was in the same condition since he had last checked it. The impending rain merely registered on a sub conscious level, pulling his issued all weather trench coat a bit tighter over his carapace, and glanced at the psyker as she audibly sighed. "You sound displeased ma'am, almost like you'd prefer to drench more guardsman in warp spawned blood. Orks won't have much trouble finding sighs like that, they might appreciate the red paint job more too."
I'll take up lugging a Maxim around, if no one else has started on a heavy weapons guy.
I shall try and have my fellow up in the next day or so, at the absolute latest.
Slightly more partial to B, both are good ideas though. B gives a wider range of character options, and a larger view of everything going on during the war. Definitely fine with either though (Or third options, for that matter, can't think of many at the moment though).
Huh, well, as much as I hate interrupting a most excellent discussion, figured I'd drop my interest in here. I do have some familiarity with the era, nowhere near as much as most of the other folks here though. No qualms with asking questions or doing my own research as necessary though.
