now now, Seppie... You make it sound so harsh... isn't there a better term out there?
don't forget to ask questions if there's anything else you wonder about, Maki.
Scaling up the map like that will also mean that its a lot more complex to cross the "lake". It'll go from maybe 10-12 km across to something like 60-100km across (wild guesstimate). more an inland ocean, really. Still, it also makes it more plausible for people to get away by crossing it. or for that matter, to go out onto it.

We'd also think that this would mean that there are a lot of waterways not shown on the map. Even fairly large ones. a river 50m wide, or even larger would be invisible on such a map without having a massive spiderweb of blue threads. Those rivers criss-crossing the Empire are probably large enough for massive ships to pass beside each other without any trouble.

By the way, Sep. If you're working on turning Ulior into a new place (or whomever might do that), we'd recommend taking that island in the lake and putting it to good use. Stick a few cities there. maybe even a massive metropolis. Properly fortified, it'll be a hell for anyone to conquer, evokers or not. You could have walls high and thick enough to stand up against most any barrage. Evokers like that fellow striking at inner city gates would not be able to do much against such.

One more thing... if anyone is planning some city or such... We'll not mind at all helping ya determine defenses, even defenses that are suitable to stop Kalesian assault. (its fun throwing wrenches that potentially mess up our own plans). However, we'd rather not get involved in controlling the defense of Amaryth, or any other city the Kalesians might choose to strike at. Designing it is ok, controlling it not ok.

EDIT: interesting character you crafted, Crab.
Peninsula on the peninsula. That works.

We'd imagine that a good portion of the empire is covered by really lush grasslands, but there's probably a decently sized section of forested lands, especially near the mountains. Grasslands as in end-of-last-ice-age grasslands. with grasses being around the same height as people. Considering the size of kalbeasts, they would only have evolved somewhere with a lot of food and space. Fairy humid, but large animals have kept forests from covering that area.

Climate, especially in higher regions of the empire, would be colder. probably around northern Scandinavian areas. i.e. lots of snow in winter, but not so cold as to be snowbound year round.

One other bit of trivia and a recommendation: Don't go near Kalbeasts during the mating season... It can be... dangerous.
we had a bit of a discussion with Sep & Echo now about map size...

if we're going with the scale from the map combined with the size of the peninsula where Amaryth is, the map isn't all that large...

<Ellri> we measured size
<Echo> its very nearly a meritocracy
<Echo> um, how Ellri?
<Ellri> based on how large the amaryth peninsula is, on map, 37 pixels across. map is 4961 pixels across
<Ellri> on model we made of the city, peninsula is 4.5km wide
<Echo> ok...
<Ellri> that equals the map being 600km across
<Ellri> technically 603.364865 kilometers
<Echo> thats really tiny
<Ellri> the earth is roughly 40000 km around
<Echo> 40075 km
<Ellri> yup
<Sep> Might not be too gooda scale then
<Echo> whats the area of the map?
<Sep> Would have to ask sparks
<Echo> naw, just get ellri to calculate height then dot he math
<Echo> we know its less than 360000 km2
<Ellri> 257425 km²
<Echo> for reference, the british isles area is 315,130 km2
<Echo> yeah this continent is miniscule
<Echo> smaller than british isles
<Sep> That's tiny, wonder if Sparks knows it is about that size.
<Ellri> we could always see if sparks wants the model scaled up or something

We'd rather imagine its larger ourselves, but not sure what you think.
One other reason not to live there with such names as you've picked: That region has a completely different cultural background. Names are Slovak.

By the way, you do realize that people in medieval times had clothes that actually covered their bodies, right? generally based around roughly spun clothes for most with some leather/hide as well, with some finer cloth for nobles...

And that in humans, hair under normal circumstances in humans (due to genetic constraints) does not grow beyond 100cm in length. There are occurrences where its been longer, but that requires active interference and extremely special care. Not something anyone would have much of any knowledge of in medieval times. Should a genetic mishap occur and hair grow far beyond that, it would still be cut if it grew longer than the person is tall. You do not want to trip over your own hair, as the person in the picture you used is guaranteed to do.

One more thing: we'd recommend tying your character into lore established by others.
We'll throw ya some critique.

One, this world is medieval fantasy. Where does non-medieval technology into that?

Also, relics pick people, not people pick relics.

One more thing: Those mountains are deep within imperial territory. Anyone residing there would not be left to their own devices. If they're as skilled at mathematics as you profess, they would have been used by the Kalesian empire.
Yes, feminism, however you define it, should not be forced into the setting or onto the character. It should be reasoned out. Even if its done on unreasonable levels (all men are swine), the character will have reasons behind it. They can be anything. Others have covered that bit better than us earlier here. no need for a recap on what might explain it.

In one RP we're in (The lower one in sig), we've built up a society in one Empire where genders are equal, while most others have a more traditional medieval setup. That society is constructed differently to make it work in a world so thoroughly different elsewhere. One easy way to implement such into a society is to borrow traits from other stories or the real world. You don't need to invent every bit of the society yourself. If there's a method/reason you particularly like in some book, just copy that and blend in a few of your own ideas. Saves a lot on time for making the design work. We've personally borrowed elements from at least three sources just for one group of people in that Empire. Other groups in the same empire don't share all those sources. Its more work that way, but the society ends up being more dynamic and considerably less "flat".

As for how we generally bring such elements into any RP: We do it by examples, by reasoned logic. If someone grew up with an abusive father, she might not be particularly fond of men. Or she might be abusive herself. If a female character got orphaned young, she is probably pretty strong personality-wise to have survived to adulthood. If a male character was raised solely by women, he would probably treat women much better than the average person. Or, if they couldn't understand him fully, he might end up disliking them. There are so many complexities to characters that nothing is pre-determined from a single set of traits, no matter what gender they have.
The exact size of the imperial army active in Othea currently is fairly large, but not extreme. We'd guess between 10,000 and 50,000 at least.

Evoker count on the imperial side isn't all that large. even going with say, 0.1% of the population capable of bonding to relics (which is probably a generous number), the count in the empire would probably be maybe a few thousand. And not all of those will have bonded, or have abilities of any reasonable use to the imperial army. We'd guess that there are less than 50 evokers in the invasion force, with most of them having only limited ability or usefulness towards combat. Most hardly have any ability at all.
Currently, ten evokers powers have been determined what are in the Empire. The numbers previously here are what we'd imagine would make sense for the entire army, not what we're going to start out having. Around ten evokers is sufficient for this stage. They're rare, after all.

We don't want to work out the size of the Othean forces, but we also imagine that they'll have fewer evokers, considering how the Idris view them. Or at least, even if they have some, they're not fully integrated into the Othean army and thus can't be used quite as effectively.

On that mask: How quickly can he(?) move? And how will he compare to our character? Considering that she sees better in shadow than in light, we'd imagine her power might possibly even have been crafted especially to counter such as the one you've got on yours. She'll still not yet have any idea about what to do if she sees yours, though.
That is unfortunate, Fallen. We think we have a hug or three in that pile there. Feel free to help yourself to them.
