Sketchpad is a 3D drawing program we use to make visual aids for regular pbp RPs.
Fair enough, we're not demanding much as it goes for prior lore knowledge, but willingness to read up is kinda necessary then.

There are d&d players here. No idea about count beyond "many".
Casual ain't dangerous. In fact, advanced isn't dangerous nor should you be afraid of either of them. The mods don't move RPs about without good reason. That someone who is not the GM thinks it doesn't "fit" in a certain section is not a good reason.

People do not always take part in just one RP. That they are online but not posting in one thread typically means they're doing something else, like reading or posting somewhere else. In advanced, posts can go from many in a single hour to one in a month without the RP dying.

If it takes more than a week in a casual RP without any activity IC or OoC or on other channels without prior notice of why, then there might be cause for concern, but it doesn’t mean the RP must be dying.

The key difference between the sections is not merely post lengths. It is also the level of thought behind each post. Where a free post might just cover a minute or two IC (we're guessing a bit here, not playing in that section), an advanced RP post can frequently encompass several hours (or even more) of IC time.

Some advanced RPs actually spend more time planning things than they do posting. Its simply a different style.

If you want to feel more comfortable with writing more we would highly recommend simply reading an RP from one, or both, of the "higher" sections. That might also inspire you a little.
Interesting, @Auren. Would perhaps a star wars RP not involving any canon characters (other than as references by name) be of interest to you? It usually has a bit above two paragraphs (sometimes much more), but there is no requirement for it. The RP values quality over quantity so far as text goes.
Which ones do you use? What do you see as benefits/flaws to them?

Everyone (mostly) know how to use images. But are there others you use or have seen others use?
Or in the case of images, how much work do you put into such?

To give a couple of examples (one someone else's, one ours):

Visual elements are very useful tools in RPs @Ryciera. We personally do it a touch more advanced than minecraft, building everything in sketchup. That lacks two features that would have been convenient: Interactive view & option for collaborative modification of the model. Games like minecraft can be beneficial for that. But the lack smaller details, non-right angles and the low amount of usable materials are big flaws in minecraft.
That happens. But the anvil isn’t heading for you, ArenaSnow.

What sort of RPs do you prefer? Theme/genre? How long do you usually write?
We expect players to read everything, or at minimum specify why and what they do not read. For example, some might have a problem with romance or torture, both of which can happen in RPs. Everyone should have a problem with rape, but as long as it is not described in detail, it's not against guild rules. Its not a tool that should be used indiscriminately, though. And never without consent between all players involvedin the scene.

If players can't read stuff that is not directly aimed at their characters because they feel it is cheating or it gives them information they cannot avoid abusing, then they have no place in our RPs. It is very simple.

We had one player in one of our former RPs skip reading stuff, then reply. He created a mess every time. Thus we will not permit such again.
We used to have that, but then we took an arrow to the knee.
