XD Noice!

I had an idea to get erryone into the same spot for more plotz. Roanne's cafe is a popular public spot, so maybe the characters could happen upon each other there?

It wouldn't be unusual for Jasper to visit, so that's easy. Ian or Laz might be looking for more dirt on Roanne, or just eatin' lunch. Fran might also just happen in for lunch (or angel help). And if Toki was a friend or aquaintence of Roanne's, she'd be invited for a free lunch and a chat. Otherwise, she might also stumble in.

How does that sound? I might delay the cs until we get this ball rollin'.
A shock of white hair on a youthful head, gleaming red eyes, a dipping 'v' of a maroon bodice deep enough to be risque—Verity couldn't imagine why such a specimen was gesturing to her of all people. Just to be sure, she turned around, expecting some young man to be waving from behind. What she found instead was different enough to make her start, eyelids blinking before she canted her head and stared.

When, exactly, did they start letting children into bars? And why is she looking up my— Verity cleared her throat, tugging the hem of her skirt further down her knee. “Darling, if you'd be a little less obvious about ogling, I'd be much obliged. This isn't The Rosy Maiden, after all.” As she spoke, Verity waved at the green-eyed girl with the back of her fingers, not unlike shooing off a naughty pet. When did I start putting off testosterone instead of estrogen? Well, it's not so bad, I suppose; these ladies aren't eyesores like the rest of these misfits.

Verity grasped the new mug of beer the barkeep had left in his hurried wake and turned on her stool to examine the voyeur of a patron more fully. With her adorable little headband with its wing and the overall dress with puffy sleeves, the creature's style was miles ahead of just about anyone else in the saloon. Such a soft chin, wide eyes and a pert little nose—why, she seemed just on the verge of womanhood. Not quite there yet, however, so Verity couldn't help but look over the crowd to see where the girl's misplaced chaperone was. Dust was no place at all for darling little birds to be fluttering along alone, especially when this particular little bird was already brewing up trouble with eyes alone.

“Someone stop him!”

Verity glanced over at some panicked old fellow. A small crowd had surrounded him, and his nearest companion appeared to be none other than Tiberius. But then—was that a shadow flitting out the door? She barely had a second to comprehend what'd happened when the old fellow burst out into a shout.

"Whoever catches that scoundrel gets 100 gold, plus another 150 if you retrieve the book for me!"

“Oh, bothe—” Verity had just enough time to turn and shelter her drink on the bar as the saloon exploded. Wooden chairs clattered to the floor, glasses smashing downward in their wake. An exhilarating buzz shocked through the atmosphere of the bar, an alchemical sort of displacement caused by dozens of human hearts bursting with adrenaline at once. Suddenly the air was thick and hot, a single mass of bodies squeezing through one door in a flood of hooting action. Guns went off, their metallic blasts met with a shock of cries from the street outside.

The barkeep, whose hands hadn't quite left two little sacks he'd set on the counter for his green-eyed customer, blinked. A crack of a smile settled on his face, growing into a toothy grin as the last of the thief’s pursuers flooded out the door. “Well, naw. I wunder how many pieces they gonna bring 'im back in! Last time it was seven—they all went n' claimed the killin' shot was them's. Confounded the sheriff 'till 'e shrugged n' split the bounty between all's of 'em.”

XD The one problem with shooting: you're in a crowded bounty hall and every person in it has a gun. There's gonna be bodies if open fire breaks out.
@Wind Wild
XD It's fine. The more you know, right? Since it's more a bureaucracy thing, I suppose I could make her the assistant of a peacekeeper or something. Would that work?

Then, if perhaps you made an npc template with specific guidelines of you're looking for, I could make a peacekeeper that fits into what you had in mind.

@Wind Wild
xD Poor Andri.

Also, this Peacekeeping stuff sounds pretty cool! Although you requested an NPC, I went ahead and generated a full character to be used. She's a member of the Peacekeepers (naturally) with the interest of preserving peace (naturally), so if she works for you, I'd be happy to use her as needed for any scenes you have in mind.

@Themerlinhawk
Funky!

@Wind Wild
I'm always around to help! Whatcha have in mind?
@Lord of Evil
Where's Harry Potter when you need him?

@Mega Birb
I applaud your post! You totally aligned Verity's position with the correct addresses, even that the saloon was on the other side of the street! Nicely written, too.
@Caits
Welcome, welcome! I love Eevee! Let's make a club together!

(Also, your sig is missing this)
@KoL
XD I quite liked your post, but I should clarify that Verity isn't flashing underwear in public--that's a little off even for her. The bottom of her crinoline and petticoat are certainly visible, if that's what you were referring to, but otherwise she's just showing a little bit of leg with her sitting position.

I subscribe to all my threads, so I always see when someone has posted regardless of notification. As for yo' question...

Music within writing as a theme interests me, as I feel that too few writers give justice to the way mucisians think about, perform, and are affected by music. Too often, being able to play an instrument is regarded as a convenient quirk, an extra checkmark on a resume to make a character seem more interesting than they really are.

I learned how to play the piano at a young age and had the experience of performing at small family recitals my teacher arranged, and I can say that experience has had an immense impact on my math skills, my confidence in public speaking, and certainly my affinity for interpreting sound and rhythm beyond "pretty sounding." I imagine anyone who has ever picked up an instrument to seriously perform with it has had similar experiences.

So, to say music inspires me is to say that I love the challenge of describing sound in writing. To interpret music described through the personal experience of a character, to communicate and describe the phenomenon that is music with serious, creative language, and to be aware of the sound and rhythm of my own grammar is something I strive for.

That being said, I tend to use music as themed background noise when I write. I can't say I've ever based a character on a song, but I do tend to pick a musical theme that works for that character when I'm writing. For Roanne, it seems to be pretty much anything Muse or old American rock lately.

@Howler
Roanne's personal rebellion seemed best written to Uprising.
