-Makes a big reveal, waits in anticipation- and no one shows up ;-;

Heh, part of me is tempted to have Justine react to the reveal and threaten to set Jasper on him, but I'll be patient and wait for Chev's reply. XD
Hey, it could have been worse. It could have been a Garchomp...
Justine felt a little nervous as they stood in front of the door of the ‘friend’ Cail had mentioned, a small doubt still in her mind about whether she should trust these people. Jasper by her side remained a tense as always and though she was no longer growling, her eyes remained set in a glare as she eyed Cail and Keiten with suspicion.

When the door opened to reveal an old woman, who promptly scolded Cail for calling her ‘Old Hag’, she couldn’t help but give a little giggle and felt her worry subside a little. As Fateen led them inside the house, she felt a strange feeling of comfort. The place seemed... welcoming, lived in.

She also noted that she wasn’t the only trainer who had stopped by for a safe place to stay. There was a woman with a Gabite who seemed just as aggressive, if not possibly more than Jasper was. Jasper herself noted the Dragon Pokemon and gave loud bark of “Gurrr!” in its direction. Justine wasn’t sure whether this was meant to be a greeting, a challenge or a threat, though given that Jasper had never met a Gabite before, she may simply been acknowledging him.

Justine also noticed a male trainer who seemed friendly enough and seemed to be talking to the female trainer.

She turned her attention back to Cail and the old woman, who were talking to one another. They mentioned an ‘Old Man’, though Justine had no idea who that was or what that meant, but she got the feeling it was important and that it was secret that they were keeping from Cipher. Hmm... maybe these lot were thinking of doing something about the Cipher problem as well. It would be pretty cool to have some allies, though she didn’t say anything.

It was at that point that Cail made his exit from the group quickly made a shout of “Erm, oh, thank you!” in his direction, though wasn’t sure if he heard her. Oh well. She took a seat on one of the chairs in the house. Jasper sat next to her, keeping a watchful eye on the many strangers surrounding her, particularly the Gabite, who she obviously was extra cautious of.

Then, the woman, who Justine gathered was called Fateen, asked an unusual question. What do Pokemon mean to you? “Huh? That’s a strange thing to ask,” she said. She then glanced down at Jasper by her side and placed a hand on the dog Pokemon’s head. “But, if you’re really asking, my Pokemon are my friends. Particularly Jasper here. I’ve known her for a long, long time. She practically a member of my family.” At this, Jasper relaxed slightly and nudged her head against her trainer’s hand affectionately.

Justine smiled down at Jasper. She meant what she said. Jasper had always seemed to be there and had always been a constant support throughout her life. She loved her dearly. She loved her other Pokemon, Coral the Meditite, as well but... well, that was different kind of friendship. Coral was very different from Jasper, who wore her emotions for all to see and could switch from happy to aggressive in almost an instant. Coral was controlled, calm, quiet, and very indifferent to those around him. While Jasper seemed tense a lot of the time, Coral was always so relaxed. Justine had no idea what the Meditite thought of her, though he still listened to and obeyed her the way a Pokemon should do to their trainer. He just didn’t seem as affectionate to her or as happy to be in her presence as Jasper did. It kind of made Justine sad, but she guessed that was just the way Coral was and did her best to treat him as a friend as much she could. The only real reason she had decided to keep him in his Pokeball today was that, while Jasper was a fairly often-seen species of Pokemon and less likely to attract attention, Coral may gain a little more unwanted interest. He didn’t seem to mind being in his Pokeball though. In fact, part of her wondered if he preferred it in there. It was probably a lot more quiet and peaceful in there then it was out there. She couldn’t help but smile at that thought, but said nothing more.
As the two men began to walk away, Justine glanced down at Jasper. "What do you think?" she asked the Mightyena.

Jasper's only response was a simple, incomprehensible growl.

Justine gave a deep sigh. "That's not very helpful, you know," she muttered. She wasn't entirely sure whether she could trust those two. At least with the hotel, she knew what she was getting into. Cipher peons raiding the hotel rooms? That was to be expected, but if she went with these two, she would have no idea what to expect. On the other hand, if they were telling the truth and they knew someone who could provide her safe shelter, that would help her keep a low profile until she could figure out what she was going to do.

What was she going to do, anyway? Beat up a bunch of Cipher grunts until they told her where her father was? Sure, that idea did sound pretty appealing, but it probably wouldn't get her anywhere. They probably wouldn't tell her a thing.

She gave another sigh. "I'll probably end up regretting this," she muttered to Jasper before the two of them began hurrying after Cail and Keiten. "Wait up!" she called to them. "We'll come with!"
Justine considered the offer for a moment. Sure, the more people she was with the less likely she was going to be attacked - safety in numbers and all that - yet at the same time, she couldn't be entirely certain these guys weren't working with or in cahoots with Cipher. It seemed the evil organisation had eyes and ears everywhere these days and Pyrite was probably the worst case for it. On a less paranoid note, though, the idea of troubling strangers more than she needed to seemed discourteous. "I wouldn't want to be a burden," she said, keeping her smile in place. "I can get there easily by myself. Plus, I got Jasper here to protect me."

At these words, Jasper held her head up slightly as a show of pride at her trainer's praise.
As Justine made her way down the street, she heard someone call out and looked over to see two young men looking over at her. Her shoulders tensed slightly out of caution, though they didn't seem like bad people. On the contrary, their words indicated they were concerned for her well-being, which was completely reasonable considering what she had heard of Pyrite recently.

However, while Justine didn't seem too worried about the two strangers, Jasper got into a defensive position and started growling immediately at the men. This wasn't unusual: Jasper was aggressive to pretty much everyone beside Justine and her family. Apparently, the Pokemon had always been like that. Her dad had told her when he had given Jasper to her as a Poochyena that Jasper was intended to be trained as a Police Pokemon but her over-hostility had made her difficult to train. Jasper had been pretty aggressive towards Justine in the beginning, but had eventually warmed to the girl and even taken the duty upon herself to protect Justine no matter what. It was touching, Justine had to admit, but it also meant that, during the early days, Justine had to restrain Jasper a lot when they were in the company of others, for fear the Dark type would attack. She wasn't so bad these days, thank Arceus, but Jasper's signature greeting to strangers always remained a snarl.

"Hey, Jasper, don't be like that," Justine told the Pokemon. "It's rude." On that command, Jasper stopped snarling, yet her body remained tensed and defensive. Justine then glanced over at the two men and gave a grin. "Heh, thanks for the warning," she said. She paused before suddenly realising that this would be a perfect time to ask for some directions. "Actually, we're just looking for a place to rest for the night. You guys wouldn't happen to know of one?"
"Are you planning on actually buying anything today?" the shopkeeper sternly prompted the girl who was loitering around the shelves. The hood of her coat had been pulled up over her head so he couldn't clearly see her face but he could only imagine she was, what, 15? 16? A kid like that should be home already, not wandering the shops of Pyrite on her own.

Well, okay, correction, the girl wasn't on her own, not really. She did have a Pokemon with her, a large and hostile-looking Mightyena who was standing protectively by her side. The creature never seemed to relax, it's shoulders always tensed and its jaws seeming to be permanently clenched into a snarl. Ferocious, yes, but the shopkeeper highly doubted that it would stand a chance against one of Cipher's Shadow Pokemon.

At his question, the girl glanced over at him and tilted her head to the side. "Hmm?" she said, seeming a bit dazed for a moment. "Oh, oh yeah! Sorry!" She gave a little laugh before taking a few items off the shelf. Most of them were potions, but she had also grabbed some fruit for herself. She carried them over and placed them on the counter. "I'll buy these."

The shopkeeper glanced down at the potions. She had taken a lot of them. "Hm, I see," he said. He scanned the items for their price. "You travelling somewhere?"

"Something like that," the girl said casually. She began rummaging through her pockets for money.

"That will be 1500 Pokedollars," the shopkeeper said.

The girl continued to searched for the money and, for a moment, the shopkeeper had a feeling she may not have had enough and was wondering about whether he should go easy on the kid or toss her out for wasting his time when she finally brought out the payment, exactly 1500 Pokedollars, and placed it on the table.

"Ta-daaaa," she said, the same way magician might do upon performing a trick.

The shopkeeper frowned but decided against saying anything, instead simply packing up the items in a brown paper bag and handing them to the girl. "There you go," he said. "Now, you better head home. Cipher Peons are crawling all over the streets. If you don't hurry, they might attack you and try to take your Pokemon from you." He glanced at the Mightyena, who was snarling viscously up at him.

"Thank you," the girl said cheerfully, not seeming to worried by this warning. She picked up the bag and exited the PokeMart, her Mightyena hurrying after her. Once they were out of the shop, the girl breathed a heavy sigh of relief. "Thank Arceus," she muttered aloud. "For a minute there, I thought he was gonna start asking all sorts of questions." She glanced down at her companion. "Well, Jasper, chow time!"

At this, the Mightyena's usual hostile position melted away and she looked up at her trainer with wide eyes, wagging her tail cheerfully. "Gur raa! Ra!" she barked happily.

The girl grinned and took an apple from the bag before crouching down to the Mightyena's level. "That's right, Jasper! Who's a good girl for not attacking the nosey old shopkeeper?" she said, waving the apple in front of the Mightyena's nose.

"Ark! Aaark!" the Mightyena, Jasper, barked in reply.

The girl giggled. "That's right! You are, you are!" she said. She then reached out to give the apple to the Pokemon, who readily snapped it up in her jaws and began munching down on the juicy red fruit. The girl laughed at this. "You must have been hungry," she said. She smiled softly and placed a hand on the Mightyena's head as the Pokemon continued eating.

The girl, Justine, gave a deep sigh as she watched Jasper for a moment longer. It had been a hard few months for them ever since they had left home. Even with all the money she had taken from her mother, she wasn't sure how she was going to afford to keep them all fed and cared for while they searched for answers. Sure, they were able to spend night in hotels and food was currently not too much of a worry, but on top of buying all that and buying supplies for battle, she wasn't sure how they were going to cope. For a moment, a small doubt began to form in her mind. Was she doing the right thing? Was she really going to be able to take Cipher down and rescued her father all on her own? She only had two Pokemon, Jasper here and a Meditite named Coral, who was currently resting in his Pokeball, and neither were particularly high-leveled. Did she...

She shook her head, trying to shake those doubts away. No. I can't think like that, she thought. What would Dad think of me if saw me giving up so easily? Besides, this can't continue! Cipher can't be allowed to continue ruling like this! She stood up to her full height, her usual grin now replaced with a determined expression. Jasper, by now finished eating, glanced up at her trainer, suddenly alert now that the girl's mood had changed.

"Come on, Jasper," Justine said. "We gotta find ourselves a place to stay." With that, she began walking down the street, Jasper quickly following after.

Though I do have a question. Why did you name her Meditite Coral? xD

Well, when I first made this character a month or so ago and planned to use it, Coral was going to be a Medicham already, meaning he'd be a sort of coral-colour (Justine has a theme of naming her Pokemon after gemstones, you see) but since I had a feeling that we were not going to be allowed Pokemon over Lvl 30, therefore meaning Coral would not be at the right level to evolve so... yeah, the name doesn't really fit him at the moment. I think your character looks fine though it's up to Chev.

Heh, thanks. X3 I'll wait for Chev's say, then.
