While I did like your post, is Kala supposed to be the Kangaskan who runs Sunny Town's orphanage? Because if she is, her baby was killed long ago... hence why she runs an orphanage.

I think around 20 years later sounds fine. It will make it easy to write for the history of the names, and you will have your "celebrity students" make cameos.

I figure the protests have been gearing up for years, and are just now getting pretty nasty. Maybe some incidences like what happened to Dumbledores sister could have happened recently to really make the magical world aware of the anger and outrage.

Oki dokes. I'm actually rather glad about that. When I remembered that fact in my head, I was sad because I didn't really want to add anything about the final battle or Voldemort's attack on the world and how it effected my character into Rhea's backstory.

And yeah, that makes sense.

While that seems like a plausible idea, why would the anti-magic protests or whatever be starting twenty years after the fact? Or have they been going on for twenty years?

I have a question: how long will this story be set after Voldemort's defeat? How many years? My character is a third year so I would like to know whether she would have been at the school during the chaos of the final battle, or whether any of the characters who aren't first years would have been there at the time. I just realised this and if it wasn't that long ago, I might have to edit my backstory.
