The King's Game is a game that's been planned for a little while now. Basically someone's the "king" and everyone else gets a number. Nobody (including the king) knows who is what number, but basically the king gives commands which are considered absolute and must be followed (e.g. "#2 kiss #5"). It's basically just a fun/potentially humorously embarrassing game that Maria wants to play with all the students (and teachers), so she called everyone over to her at the lounge and we're now just kinda waiting around for it to start. We have yet to have a good chunk of time when everyone who wants to play is on (it was Destiny's idea, I think), so it's been slow. A bunch of characters are hanging around where Maria is (Crash, Kathy, Darwin, etc.) but the game hasn't started yet. You could easily have Dendus and/or whoever you want to play show up at the lounge with everyone else. Some people are with Maria, others are at the nearby bar.
Miyoshi listened to the conversation, taking in what Zola and Ariella said. She was developing her opinions of her squadron mates slowly but surely. Zola, who she presumed was a backseater from her comments, was blunt and unfiltered - she seemed like an adept quick decision maker, especially to be able to keep up with her pilot as she described him. Ariella, of course, seemed very experienced, which Miyoshi would expect and demand from a flight lead. She also never stopped being a leader, a point proven moments later when she broke up the lunch chat to get the squadron hustling again. Fortunately, Miyoshi had just finished her small meal. She stood up, giving the appropriate affirmative response to her flight lead, and returned her tray, taking one final swig of her drink (emptying the glass) as she walked over.

She glanced back at the rest of her squadron mates at the table as she exited the cafeteria, assuming anyone who really wanted to talk to her would catch up. Getting to know her squadron mates was definitely high on her priority list, but sitting at the top was carrying out her flight lead's instructions immediately, so she didn't wait around to acquire a chat buddy. After an uneventful walk at a moderately brisk pace through the Nimue's corridors, she arrived at the hangar housing Excalibur squadron's aircraft. Walking the length of the hangar and admiring each of the other aircraft she passed as per usual, she soon reached her beloved Massao. The crew looked like they had just completed rearming the Foxbat, and the crew chief confirmed it when she walked up to him.

"Six R-37Ms, two K-77Ms and four K-74M2s all loaded and ready to go. Vulcan has the full 500 rounds. Fully fueled, fully checked and double checked. She's good to go."

Miyoshi acknowledged the crew chief with a slight head bow and a "Thank you", turning and beginning to walk back towards the barracks - but not before giving her aircraft a pat. "See you soon," she said under her breath with a little smile, and walked back down the length of the hangar. It seemed like the squadron had reduced in size from before - were some pilots reassigned? She didn't think anyone was shot down...of course, it could all be in her imagination. She was, however, fairly adamant that there had been more than eight aircraft at RAF Lossiemouth earlier that day. She mentally shrugged and assumed all would be made clear by her flight lead and in forthcoming briefings.

That Tomcat is gorgeous, she thought to herself as she exited the hangar and walked towards the barracks.

Soon, she arrived in the barracks. It had been far less than forty minutes, but she had really nowhere else to go in the massive submarine-carrier. So, she climbed into her bunk and turned on her tablet, immersing herself in its vast repository of information about the Nimue, Excalibur, and the current conflict in general. Now was as good of a time as any to get as up to speed as she could.
Geez, how many of us are still left?

Just got a post up. Hopefully I didn't get anything wrong regarding checking the aircraft and such.

On another note, I still need to try Ace Combat Infinity.
Congrats :D

Feeling better?
"Bigger and better than this little beach?" Lucas queried lightheartedly, immediately holding his hands up to his mouth and gasping for effect. Claire was right, of course. They weren't supposed to have everything figured out, being barely in college. Still...it seemed like he didn't have an avenue for advancement anywhere. He'd have to figure out his future eventually...maybe she'd be a part of it.

Dude. You just met her yesterday.

That's what the "maybe" is for, numbnuts.

Fine, fair enough.

He happily followed her subject left turn, though he felt a little deja vu from the night before.

"Well, I don't have any, as you know," he said, unsure on the inside whether or not she actually did know it. Just roll with it. "I love dogs, though." He pondered for a while, hoping to scrounge up something more interesting than the most cookie cutter response of all time. Suddenly his face lit up. "Oh yeah! I've always wanted to have a dolphin as a pet," he said, happy with his response. "Dunno if that'll ever happen, though," he admitted with a shrug.

"What about you?" he asked, struggling and failing to find a mention of what pets she had from the night before in his memory and coming out empty handed. He sincerely hoped he hadn't forgotten something already.
Carmen

Carmen smiled at Lily's entrance comment. "Now you're getting it," she said with a smile as she got up from the bed, taking her trumpet with her. Walking over to Lily, she stopped on the way momentarily in front of the mirror, adjusting her hair, dress and accessories to make sure everything was Just So. Looking over to see Lily motioning for her to go through the open door, she practically strutted her way over. As she walked through she flipped her hair and looked at Lily, saying, "Oh, why thank you," with an almost seductive smile on her face, whipping her head back in laughter as she walked out of the cabin.

"C'mon, Lily, let's go make an impression," she said, starting to walk towards the lounge. "We'll walk in side by side. Oh, I can't wait to see everyone's reaction. This is the best part about my line of work, you know," she explained, twirling her trumpet around her index finger as if it were a key ring. "You're going to love it."
Akira

"I feel sorry for whatever doctor has me as a patient," Akira chuckled. "They say I'm a handful, you know," she said, pretending to be oblivious to her standing in the village. She laughed as he continued. "Oh Luke. Your nerves may be significantly less easily ignited than mine (whose aren't?), but that doesn't mean they aren't still easily ignited. You were always a hothead," she said, nudging him back. "It's probably why you can put up with me. I'll still never know for sure why you willingly took me as a mate," she said with a chuckle.

"Honestly, I don't mind all of them. Amara, for example. She's never gotten on my nerves, though she could stand to be a touch less afraid of me," she chuckled. "Though I guess I should expect that. It's who I am...a fact you know all too well."
Carmen

Carmen happily took the red dress from Lily, noticing her radiant smile that hadn't quite been there before. Evidently she'd helped Lily out in some way or another. "Good choice, of course," she said, smiling. She began to disrobe to change into the dress without a second thought, and her ears perked up as Lily asked her to help her make friends. It was an odd request, for sure, but Carmen felt that she might have a chance at helping.

Pulling the dress over her head, she responded. "Oh Lily, of course I'll help." She pondered a moment, thinking about all the people she knew that qualified under "you know people around here". She had met a few of the other students and of course gotten close to the other two musketeers, but it wasn't like she was the social butterfly of the Academy. Well, maybe she was. But she wasn't trying to be. Sophistication doesn't require lots of friends, she reminded herself. Still, her blunt, in-your-face way of socializing with people hadn't seemed to garner a negative reaction yet, and the couple of times she had gotten Lily involved she had really gotten her involved. At least, that's how she remembered it.

"Just stick with me and you'll get friends," she said with a little smile that had a hint of slyness...and smugness. "And with the new look you have going on, who'll be able to resist?" she continued, clearly enjoying herself. "The answer is nobody," she said, clearly proud of herself. "Well, nobody with any taste, anyway." By this point she had her dress, jewelry and every other accessory imaginable on and ready to go. "Speaking of which," she continued, "We should probably get to this meeting thing soon. There's a definite window of time that can be considered fashionably late, you know?" Of course, she wasn't really in a hurry, and sat on the bed with her legs crossed looking over with a tilted head at Lily.
Lucas took another sip of his coffee. "I dunno," he said, responding to Claire's comment about going out for certification. "Seems to me like you've got this coffee thing down," he finished as he briefly raised his cup to her and took another sip. He pondered a moment about lifeguarding and the things that came with it, and the only thing he could come up with was "You do have to become very good friends with sunscreen" with a little shrug.

He chuckled at her next question. "See for yourself," he said, opening his palms to her. "There's not really much more to me than meets the eye...I think," he remarked. "I'm no Transformer."

He thought a moment. "At least there isn't now, anyway. This," he said as he pointed to the lifeguard cross on his shirt, "is pretty much my life currently." He shrugged. "Not that that's a bad thing, but...I need to find my way at some point, you know? You can't exactly retire on earnings from being a lifeguard for fifty years," he finished, chuckling.
Lucas' eyes went wide as Claire explained her customer's "situation" that day. "That's an...interesting mental image," he admitted. "I think I'll go ahead and not have it again," he said, smiling. He chuckled with her as she said "I wouldn't have thought my day would be more interesting than that of a lifeguard's."

"Everyone seems to think that lifeguards really guard people's lives all the time, and that it's exciting," he explained with a little grin. "Let me let you in an a little secret: lifeguards here mostly become lifeguards because it's usually the easiest job ever. You get to sit in a chair and do nothing for hours. Now, when someone breaks a rule you have to angrily blow the whistle at them, and when someone's actually drowning you have to bring your A-game, but on a beach like this it's mostly sitting around doing nothing. The people who come here are usually intelligent enough to not let themselves drown." Pausing, he added, "Fortunately, there's lifeguard certification so not just any schmuck who can't really help people can become a lifeguard. I'd like to think I'm not a schmuck," he finished, still grinning a little.

He took a sip of the coffee Claire had given him. "Ooh, this is good," he remarked. "Thanks for making it for me," he said, smiling at her.
