The Beacon girl wore a look of grim satisfaction as she spun and fired, striking flying monsters out of the air with ease. They weren't geared to handle that kind of fighting, or at very least ranged attacks combined with her ability to spam out magic like there was no tomorrow against a horde of enemies. Soon enough their numbers began to get very thin.

That just left the problem of the horses on the ground, and she was having some more difficulty with those. It wasn't really any fault of her own, they just had tougher armor that was keeping her magic from being as effective as it could be.

"It would be too easy for me to fix everything I guess," Alicia muttered to herself as she did her best to balance atop her perch. She was confident in her skill but did not want to accidentally fall or get knocked over into the armored horses that could trample her. It would be an ignoble way to go.

Quickly she assessed the situation before shifting her aim. Flying enemies were no longer the main problem, and the mechanical enemies would go away if the one who made them was dispatched (hopefully). If that was the case then there was only on thing to do. Carefully she targeted her shot, careful of proximity and distance. A split second later she fired, sending an arcing bolt of light at long range towards the brawling group. She didn't expect it would kill the girl who had summoned the soldiers, but perhaps it would provide enough of a distraction that they could pull out some kind of advantage.

Afterwards she turned to the mechanical soldiers, thinning their ranks with body shots like she had the flying horses. She wasn't going to let them do whatever they wanted unopposed either.

Just waiting on posts at the moment. Otherwise doing fine and trying to stay chill. Birthday coming up, so that's nice
Yeah, I went and checked their character sheets. Imma need some bigger guns to stay relevant in the Alkahest pond (or lake, rather)
I'm glad I'm not over there :V

The safehouse was just as he had left it, much to the criminal's satisfaction. He had suspected that it would be, but confirmation that no one had gotten particularly antsy with his stuff when he had dropped off the grid for his new employer was always good. It was a sign that the respect they had for him was still intact, or so he liked to think.

More likely people just didn't care, but Finch was not going to let a thought like that stop him from holding to his own opinions.

The place wasn't that well decorated, but that was alright. He grabbed a bag and began to load it up with stuff, spare clothes, some weapons and gear, and a few sentimental items to top it all off. He was methodical about his choices, ignoring things that could easily be replaced to instead take some more specialized equipment. Considering his new job he had no idea what they might have him doing. Best to be prepared for every eventuality.

He was just about done when there was a knock on the door. "Wonder who that is," he muttered to himself as he closed the bag before walking to the front entrance. Glancing through the peephole revealed that it was Pierre, one of the older members of his gang who had managed to make it through all the trials and tribulations that they had been through.

Opening the door, he stepped aside to let his friend enter. Pierre was older than he was, with blond hair, a small jagged scar on his cheek, and tan skin. "Didn't think I'd see you here," he remarked as he stepped inside. "Not after seeing you with that guy taking on the High on tv."

Finch shrugged as he closed the door behind them, moving back into the main room of the safehouse. “I got myself a new gig with some powerful people. Lots of profit in it if it works out.”

Pierre glanced towards the bag that he was busy packing at that point. “That why it look like you're going on a trip?” It wasn't the most difficult conclusion to reach, that was for sure. Finch didn't really mind, not from one of his closer associates.

“Yeah.” Knowing who it was now, Finch did not waste time as he returned to packing up his stuff. He could do that and talk at the same time so multitasking would be the name of the game. “My new employer has some interesting digs. I'd tell you about it but he's a bit big on privacy”

That earned a chuckle from Pierre, who shook his head as he took a seat. “Relax, I wont pry.” He watched Finch for a few moments before speaking up again. “Still, this is a bit different than what you usually do isn't it? You said before that you don't like playing second fiddle to major players.”

Finch did not pause as he answered. “Yeah, I did. But I think there's real opportunity here. This guy isn't like all those other guys. Play my cards right and I could get a lot out of this.” There was a lot of risk as well, but he did not draw attention to that fact. He'd already made up his mind after all.

“Well, it's your decision,” Pierre replied with a shrug on his part. “So what's this mean for the rest of us?” Considering that he worked for Finch, he was understandably worried about that.

That was something that Finch had considered before, and he had an answer prepared for his associate. “I don't know how long this will last, so I'll be in touch if I need anything. Don't do anything I wouldn't in the meanwhile.”

Pierre chuckled again. “That's not too hard. I'll make sure things stay in one piece until you get back.” he got back up to his feet, walking over before offering Finch his hand. “You take care of yourself, alright?”

“Thanks,” Finch replied, shaking Pierre's hand without hesitation and a frank honesty that he did not usually show. But they had worked together for a while now, before he had really made it big. Pierre was one of the ones who knew him best, so he could b more open with him.

With that the conversation seemed to draw to a close as Pierre made his way over towards the door. “No problem. See you around, make sure you send a message or something once in a while.”

“You too,” he replied, and stopped for a moment to watch as Pierre left. This was going to b a big change in his life, he was sure of it. Yet there was a small part of him that was worried about these changes, that perhaps thought how things were was alright. But at this point there was little time for doubts. Not after what had happened so far.

Once he had gone Finch returned to packing up his bag, slipping last few items in. This was a gamble, all of it. He knew that he was doing something risky, playing with fire, but the payoff to it promised to be quite significant, more than he had ever had before. Didn't that make it worth the risk?

Hopefully. Finch zipped up the bag and slung it over his shoulder before he took his leave, locking the safehouse on the way out. It was only when he had walked a couple streets that he then hit the button he had been given, with no one around to watch. He could keep that small little secret to himself for now, or at least pretend that he was. For now, it was time to return to his employer, and see what came his way next

Things were escalating again it seemed as the sound of combat rang out nearby. It was not simply the sound of fighting the horses though, and she could tell there was more to it. Just like the hospital, it seemed that someone had taken advantage of the monster attack to act on a grudge. At least, so she assumed anyways.

That wasn't her concern though, at least for the moment. It seemed as though there were people already going to handle it, so sh should focus on the monsters. Then they could deal with whoever was using this attack, whether it be Justine or someone else.

A good thing too, as the horses suddenly discovered the ability to not only have incredible strength, but also the power to fly. Sh ducked low, dodging beneath a charge that came her way quickly. Her bow rose and she fired a trio of arrows up at the horse as it passed, hopefully embedding itself in the belly of the beast. It would be on down, but there were plenty more where that had come from. Unfortunately.

In a situation like this, she'd just have to step it up then. Elegant magic was sacrificed for brute force as she formed two, three arrows on her bow at a time. Star Seraph thrummed, volley after volley launched into the sky as she moved, trying to keep ahead of whatever attacks were launched her way. It might be a death by a thousand cuts, but it was th best option she had at the moment. Hopefully it made a difference.
Man, I'm glad that I don't have to worry about all this heavy drama stuff (He says, aware that he is jinxing himself)

Getting back to the city was fairly easy. Once he was prepared it was just a simple matter of getting a free teleport the same way that he had arrived in the metal fortress. Getting into the city by himself would be harder since the High probably knew, but if they did care there wasn't much he could do about it. Hopefully they were preoccupied or didn't care at all.

It was also unfortunate that they couldn't just teleport him directly to his hideout, but he could manage it regardless. Finch figured it was best to keep at least some things to himself. Just in case this ended up not working out and he had to make a quick exit.

That just left the matter of getting into the city. Normally it might not have been that big of an issue, but with how things had been going recently he did have problems to worry about. It seemed like he was a magnet for Epic Heroes these days, like that guy Magus or whoever. He didn't want to get grabbed trying to return to the safehouse, that would just be embarrassing. At least getting out would be easier. Rend had given him a transmitter of some kind, so with the press of a button he would get a ride back to the fortress with his stuff.

For now though he had a general plan in mind. Public transportation for a bit and keeping his head down, at least until he reached the downtown area. A bit of clothes shopping for accessories later and he had some sunglasses and a changed hairstyle. That would remove the immediate recognition as he made his way to the safehouse in the run down apartment building further away. Collect his gear from there, get the ride back, and he was hom free.

Easy, right?

Holing on carefully to the notebook that she had received from her encounter, Alicia found that there were no more interruptions on her journey to the train station. She had plenty to focus on, but now she could focus on the monster problem that they currently had.

Arriving, she winced at the devastation that she found there. There was some sort of horde of demonic horses rampaging about and causing mass destruction. As she had expected though here were already girls dealing with the problem, though they were fairly uncoordinated in doing so.

Well, it was better than nothing.

"Time to get to work," she said to herself with a nod as she came to a stop on one of the awnings directly above one of the platforms. A nod was given towards the nearby girls who might be aware of hr presence before she summoned her bow. "Star Seraph, blaze!" Mana flowed into the bow as arrows of light formed. She nocked the bow, arms raised as she pointed it into the sky. Like at the hospital glyphs of burning light formed in the air, presumably visible to those nearby. She wasn't sure if the horde saw, but at the moment she did not care.

After a moment she nodded to herself, and released. The arrows rose before being caught in the glyph where they were magnified by the magic therein. It created a veritable storm of arrows that would fly down into the attacking horses and hopefully thin their numbers a bit. She knew where her specialization was, and she would put it to good use.

ALICIA! I DON'T KNOW IF YOU REALLY HAVE THE TIME TO DEAL WITH THE HORSE-INFESTATION BEFORE DELIVERING THAT MESSAGE...!

Well then it's too bad that her specialization is being a lie detector rather than seeing things others are doing isn't it. :P
