Occupation: Sellsword | Apothecary | Thief
Abilities: Can slip into the minds of animals (preferably birds or cats). Can subtly influence emotions (enough to dull suspicion, incite fear, or breed temporary trust). Has knowledge of herbs to be used for poisons, salves, and rituals (often chews leaves or consumes mushrooms). Uses dual daggers for silent kills and quick cuts.
Personality: Calculated and quiet, but not cold. Always observes before acting. Fiercely loyal to those who have her trust. Empathetic towards animals and the downtrodden.
Background:
Vaela was born in a pleasure house. Not much is known about her father, other than that he was a military man. Her mother was just barely out of childhood herself at the time of her birth, and ended up passing away from resulting complications. Her mother was well loved amongst the other courtesans, and so Vaela was raised among them.
Vaela first noticed her abilities when she was around five years old. If the cook told her no to one of his pastries, she could make him change his mind and she would end up with the whole batch. If one of the other children in the brothel had a new toy, she could get them to give it to her with little to no protest. As she grew older and was expected to earn her keep around the pleasure house, she was able to convince customers to hand over their coin without any favors from her. It wasn't just people that Vaela could influence. She was always in tune with the cats in the pleasure house and around the city. She knew which cats ran in which packs and where their territories lay. Eventually, she discovered she can transfer her consciousness into theirs. Not just cats, but any animal she wished.
As a teenager, a group of bandits came to visit the pleasure house. The leader was a handsome man dripping in jewels and coin. He had a magnetism about him that fascinated her. His crew loved and respected him. The man was immediately drawn to her, too, and purchased her services for the night. While very drunk and high on a powder he had given her, she let slip of her abilities. The man revealed he had similar capabilities. She left with him and the crew the next morning, never looking back. It was during this years she would perfect her craft. Vaela would use her abilities to transport narcotics through the city without being noticed by guards. These were some of the fondest memories of her life: young, in love, and powerful. She was on top of the world and nothing could stop her. Or so she thought.
There was betrayal in the squad. A job went wrong, a set up. Her lover and most of her friends slaughtered before her eyes. She would have lost her life, too, but she managed to throw herself into the river. The current carried her almost lifeless form for a long time. She was discovered by an old man who was fishing from one of the banks. She spent several months being nursed by the old man, who was a doctor in a small village tucked away in the forest. It was from him she learned how to read, write, and earned her knowledge of herbs and anatomy. She came to love this man as a father of sorts, and she remained at his side until his age claimed him.
This is where we meet Vaela now. Usually found with a feline companion, a wanderer. Taking contracts to keep her pockets lined and her belly full, seeing whatever life throws in her path.

I am currently obsessed with the Witcher universe (the books and games, NOT the Netflix adaptation). I am also rewatching GOT (have not read the books yet) and the show Vikings. So I am looking for a roleplay that has these themes. I'm super flexible, though.
In real life I am a 30 year old female, so I do ask for anyone that writes with me to be of age. I don't write smut (I don't even read it), but some casual romance or fade to black is fine with me.

I am very curious and excited to be here. I am a 30 year old girl in real life and I used to roleplay online as a teenager! It started with a friend and I passing a notebook back and forth in class, then on myspace, Simon & Schuster, and roleplayer.me. I also used to write a lot of Harry Potter fan fiction on Wattpad, lmfao.
Recently I have been rekindling my passion for reading fantasy books and playing games. In my efforts to stop doom scrolling through Instagram reels, I am looking for a creative outlet. I asked Chatgpt if roleplaying like back in the old days still existed, and so now I am here. :) It has been many years since I've written anything creatively, so be gentle with me LOL.
Currently, I'm obsessed with the Witcher universe. I'm also in the process of watching GOT in preparation for HOTD. So any RP that falls into this category is alright with me.
