Fuck me. At this point I'm seventy percent sure he's figured me out. Even if he hasn't... shit just got real. So much for the girlfriend question throwing him off. At least, if what he said is true, my fishing got an answer. He's got a girl and deep stuff going no less. That's an Abort right there. Hell, even if that's a lie that only means he knows what I'm up to and is just screwing with me right back. Again, might as well Abort. Rrgh, but admitting defeat suuuuuuccckks.

She sighed and leaned back, looking over her shoulder at the waiter. _{"I'm sorry, Shuai sempai. I am not worthy of your praise."}

She leaned forward and put her face in her hands, making a whining sound as she did so. "I'm sorry. I didn't expect that would be your response. I shouldn't have brought it up."

There was still a one percent chance Gren was lying about having a girlfriend for some other reason and he still didn't know she was messing with him. But even she couldn't work with odds that fractional. This is the point where you need to back off, Valentine. If my game's not a complete bust it might as well be considered a lost cause for now. At least now I know if I wanna have fun like that again I can't just assume it'll be so easy.

"Why don't we go on ahead, then. We'll see you after you get your food? And you'll bring Scoot, too, won't you? I won't get to meet my team until tomorrow. But still there is plenty to celebrate tonight!"

Well, she could still say today wasn't a total loss. She was still a student at Beacon. And she now had her first soul sister ever which had to be one of the coolest things that had ever happened to her in her life! And Emmie is the cutest thing ever! She just got so excited to think her friend had a girl. Probably... not the same tone anymore after that whole deal. In fact, I hope... Annabelle looked to Emerald, suddenly a little worried that Gren's sad tale of love might have upset her.

Shuai... Ah, of course he knew she was acting. He had seen her when she first got here, before Gren's arrival startled her. Come to think of it his clothes did not look machine made, and his charismatic smile... Could it be he was a pro at acting and she hadn't even noticed? He even complimented her on her own little act with Gren. She felt a little giddy to hear that. Even though I'm just fooling around. And he's right about being consistent, too. Gren's more on top of things than I expected.

"Thank you~!" She whispered with a wink before she had left.

He did look, but he was pretty slick about it. Just a side glance. So I am getting to him, right? What exactly is it about this one that he can play it so cool?
If he's not gay then... maybe I'm just not his type? He looks like he might prefer tall, strong girls, probably blondes, most guys want blondes. Tch, should have gone with blonde today.

But maybe it's not even that. I did underestimate this guy right out of the gate. And there are some pretty clear signs that inconsistency should be my middle name, can't deny that. And he just throws the barely concealed innuendos right back at me, doesn't skip a beat.

He's... probably onto me, isn't he? Damn, I hope not. But I wasn't really paying attention when I started this. I just saw the opening and did like I always do. But if he caught on right away and I'm just now considering this... ugh, he's probably been laughing at me this whole time! I like a challenge but if I never had a chance at all...

Or maybe, just maybe, I'm reading too much into this. There is a simpler explanation, though that might call for a 'mission abort', too.

I'll see your hot 'n heavy combat enthusiasm and raise you a probing question, Sir Gren. This has to get me somewhere. With any luck it will even throw him off balance...

Older or younger she's just too cute. I am a little worried about this stabbing and poisoning business. Isn't Rule One of sisterhood to always look out for one another? Oh no, if she's already going on missions that must mean her team is full! How can I watch out for her if that's the case? Ffffuuuuu... Maybe someone else would be able to trade places with me? Gods I suck, I didn't even notice my own sis was all bandaged up! Well, it's OK, Anna, she said we should go cheer up her other teammate. Maybe I could talk to him about it? I know! I'll bribe my way in! Genius! Money doth have its perks, heheee.
