Ryan sat at the tennis court watching Eris do her thing. "Secret Grimoire Art. See through the veil, The High Priestess." Ryan whispered to himself as the Roman Numeral for 2 glowed on his hand. Ryan saw through the blades obstructing her and was fascinated by the runes. "Quite the setup you have."
Ryan looked surprised when Dimitri asked if he was coming. "I suppose so." He quickly put on a mask of impassiveness and followed Dimitri. "Have a good day miss." He said to the nurse on his way out.
Meruin paused and stared at herself. Very characteristically, she was rather nonchalant about the whole affair. She caught Ryan's jacket and shook her head, handing the jacket back. "There's no need Tyl- er, I mean, Ryan. I actually have a spell that can bend the space between my body and clothes, but . . ." Meruin trailed off, an idea occurring to her. "I have an obligation to show you, Sol and the others a little of what I've developed in these recent years." It was a strange logic; that friends should know the secrets of other friends, but not too much of them, just enough to be friends. It was a logic that suited Meruin quite well. She muttered a few words under her breath, and a dazzling flare of seven lights covered her body. In the few seconds that it stayed, those with keen eyes could see thousands of tiny circles intersecting with each other like incandescent chainmail, then a brighter light layered over all of them and finally it settled down. Meruin was no longer nearly naked - rather, almost her whole body was covered in a silvery robe. It was fairly simple: long sleeves and golden bands around her waist and middle-fingers, but it exuded and aura of invincibility that was so potent, it seemed physical. Meruin took a deep breath. Summoning the thing had taken a lot of concentration. "Here; one of my improved spells - it's name is Perpetual Fortress. It's a series of exactly 5,123 barriers interlocked together, each with different and varying effects that compliment and support the whole, then layered with a three more non-chained barriers for added defense." She took one look at her sleeves, scowled, then stared at Ryan. "It's only weakness is that it's too powerful, and by summoning it, I'm basically sacrificing all offense for defense. I have never actually needed to use it before." "It doesn't mean much, but at the very least, I want you to see that I haven't been idle while you haven't seen me," she said with a small smile.
Ryan looked at the robe and sighed. This was his one major problem in his quest to become president. He had to compete with Meruin, who was seemingly unbeatable. "Eris, you are being challenged by Sol. Now that he has challenged you, you may dictate when and where you are fighting. There is no declining the challenge." He explained quickly while putting on his jacket.
Eris walked up to the group and sat down with a thump, "hey everybody great day isn't it." she said then turned towards Ryan, "Hey your not going to go after me as soon as we get those gauntlets right Ryan?" she asked completely disregarding the fact that others were there for a second "Because that wouldn't be good for us if there was a council fight just yet" she said attempting to lightly tapping her right index finger to the tip of his nose then remembering that others were there quickly saying "Oh... hi I'm number 6 nice to meet you all" and giving a quick salute but forgot about her scales and incidentally left a small welt on her forehead "Oww..." @floodtalon
Ryan considered her request for a moment than looked at her seriously. "No, I will wait. I do not yet have enough info on you to fight with an advantage." He than picked up his cards again and looked at her closely. The Empress card shot out and glowed in her presence. "I see." He grabbed the card and put it back in the deck.
Meruin got up and found that she was the only person awake . . . well, wide awake, anyway. Elza appeared to be conscious, but didn't seem to like it, if going back to bed was any indication. She decided to leave her until she was more alert, for now, she had breakfast to attend to. She quickly got out, a trail of floating books and a mass of floating hair behind her which was being combed by a floating silver brush. There were a lot of things floating around Meruin, basically. As soon as she got to the dining area, many people began staring at her. She shrugged, she was the third ranked Student Council member, she got stares like this most of the time. A few people wolf-whistled in her direction, and she frowned; was there someone particularly attractive behind her? Soon, she caught sight of another familiar face. She smiled and greeted them. "Good morning, Sol, Ryan, and of course, it's pleasure to see you again after all this time, Liz," she said. A breeze blew by and she felt herself shiver. "It's fairly cold today, isn't it?" Well, you would be a bit chilly if you were completely nude except for your panties. Again, plenty of things were floating around Meruin - that included her thoughts.
Ryan sighed and took off his jacket. He tossed it to Meruin and continued eating. He looked up at her for a moment than looked back down with a light blush. "Glad to see some things never change." He pulled out a set of Tarot Cards (not his Grimoire ones) and spread them out. Certain cards floated up and pointed towards certain people. The High Priestess card pointed at Meruin, The Justice pointed at Sol, The Chariot pointed at Marcus, The Hierophant at Deus, and The Fool pointed at Ryan. "So those are your arcanas. Interesting." All the Tarot cards settled back into one place and Ryan gathered them up. "That is the only spell I can do with cards without my Grimoire. However I find it is very interesting to find someone's personality symbolized into a single card. Wouldn't you all agree?" Ryan asked out loud.
Ryan sat down at a table to eat his food when he looked at his watch. "I wonder when Meruin will wake up." He looked at Sol and the others and waved.
"Sounds like a plan." Ryan grabbed some food and quickly ate. He then headed to his dorm and bed. He picked up his book and opened it after making sure no one was around. He flipped to a random page and pulled out a set of Tarot Cards. He pulled two random cards and looked at them. "The Empress and The Magician. Fitting." He put the cards in his pocket and began focusing on the listening devices he put all over school.
I was waiting for TheHangedMan to respond. I'm cool with a timeskip.
Flood looked at the both of them. "Sorry about that." He watched the students storm off and his smile shrunk a little but he began laughing when everyone else laughed. "You guys might want to go change, class will be starting soon." He began taking his jacket off to reveal another clean black jacket underneath. His jacket was the only thing not covered with paint.
"You destroyed the forest with meteors. So in comparison, they were quite tame." Ryan responded. "I know why they're Tarot cards. And thats all that matters. I have half the deck so far, from The Fool to The Death card."
