"Band of Bastards"- WW2 Heist/Espionage RP!

I'm completely new here (and to RPing in general) but I might be interested. Any room for someone deeply and somewhat ironically committed to a cause? I was thinking of a Maoist soldier trying to steal some cash to fund the Communist cause, knowing that the tide is turning and that the real struggle in his home country has just begun and his side will need money to come out on top. Maybe he plays at being a lot more mercenary and unscrupulous than he really is, but the façade is starting to become reality?

Hello there!!

Ohey, new here too and totally new to roleplaying. So, where does your handle come from?

Intros are not my Forte

So, keeping that in mind, I'm just gonna plow headlong into this. I'm Lex, I'm new, and I live in Shanghai, China, where I've recently started teaching History and Science after graduating. I'm a talker, a big science guy, a bit of a real-life adventurer (urbex, backcountry hiking, etc.), and I dabble in creative pursuits here and there. As for the RP community? I'm a total novice. I've played WoW, EVE, Maplestory, LoL, and some other online games in the past, but that was mostly just to pwn n00bs, melt faces, and get phat l3wtz. Yeah, that was kind of an embarrassing phase. I didn't really appreciate the potential for immersive roleplay, but I like to think that I've evolved since then. I can't say that I have any strong preferences aside from appreciating genuine creativity, some escapist qualities and avoiding things that are derivative, hackneyed, and overly sentimental. I definitely like to keep things fresh and hopefully thought-provoking where possible, and I prefer flawed and morally complex (and that doesn't mean Byronic or romantically moody) characters.

I'm part of the combat robotics community, but can only really participate in simulated battles online at ARC (since I don't exactly have the 30 000 RMB needed to build a 100 kilo battlebot just lying around). That's the closest I've ever come to roleplaying, and I was originally only gonna join up to see if anyone would be interested in checking my community out, but I wanna give this a real shot. It could be fun!
