Desmond Williams

Assessing the situation ahead of them, Desmond afforded his partner a quick smirk, before moving to straighten his tie and forgetting that he stopped wearing one back when the dead started to walk and any hanging fashion could have meant a death sentence. He shook off his professional instinct, and raised his Beretta at eye level with the small horde to cover her approach with the combat knife. Breathing steadily, he lined up a shot with one of the tattered corpses and pulled the trigger, but he aimed too low at first and merely obliterated the walker's jaw. Adjusting his aim, the ex-lawyer took another shot, and watched as the bullet burrowed deep between the eyes. The corpse fell to the floor, causing the one behind it to trip. Not the brightest things, Desmond noted, before turning his attention back to his companion.

She had taken down one of her own, but a second had caught her off guard and nearly got to her. Without a second thought, and with the line of sight between himself and the walker clear, Desmond spun on his heel, leveled his gun and took the shot. A spray of blood shot out of the side of its deformed head, and the body crumpled to the ground. They had one left on the ground floor --the one that had tripped over Desmond's first kill and was just now getting on it's feet -- as well as a few more making its way through the open door. Upstairs, Desmond could hear the groans of the dead and the sound of more gunshots, as the disjointed survivors continued to fend off the small horde.
"No rest for the wicked, eh?" He raised a brow at his partner and cracked a smile, before turning his attention back on the fight.

Douglas Knowles

As yet another survivor made contact with their group, Doug's excitement grew, and he was quick to respond.
"We read you; Eighth Street is operational. I repeat, our safe house is operational and the area is relatively clear, over."
He put down the mic and turned to Ron.
"At this rate, we may have to expand into the next building," he said, smiling. Ron just shook his head.
"At this rate, we may all just starve before the dead even get to us."
@FortunesFaded Yeah I was a little unsure about your zombie ruling. I mean, realistically, a number above four or five is substantial, considering conditions. (Unless you carry an assault rifle I suppose. Or a shotgun. Or some other assault weapon of that nature.) but anyways, I was debating on whether this was real life related or walking dead related. Because in walking dead they kill dozens of zombies like they're made out of paper, and only a huge swarm really dampers them, unless they sneak up on them. You know?

But thanks for the clarity!

Haha, yeah, that's a valid point. I'm trying to walk a fine line between realism and TWD here. Either extreme kinda kills the mood of a good zombie roleplay. Too unrealistic, and there is no cause for alarm amongst the characters (zombies no longer even become antagonists, just minor inconveniences). And too realistic, and all creativity is stifled. All the characters are sitting in a safehouse covered in bubble wrap.
@Remipa Awesome You're fine! You had a valid reason for it. Just run it by Pirouette or I in the future, please! (You didn't break any rules, this is just something I forgot to say originally).
So this is a new thing, mainly because the recent event IC reminded me of it, but generally (in the future, that is) try to keep the number of zombies you introduce in a scene to five or less. Just for the sake of realism, when it comes time to killing all of them.
Just btw, I've no idea where I am in relation to everyone else. Right now Todd's by the Wilmington sign with the car crashed into it.

You're right down the road from the apartment building where about five of the characters are.

@Neo Anderson Accepted. You don't need to list food/water under belongings though, as they aren't permanent.
@Desire There were, but they arrived after! Don;t worry, you did nothing wrong. I started typing my post before you posted, but posted it after you, so they arrived after Cole entered the building and I just had to edit that in a bit to fit with it all fluidly.

@Foster Was that your character from Northwards? I seem to recall him breaking his legs..

Also, points for the Red v. Blue link.
Just to clarify before I post, both Cole and Desmond have reached the apartment complex correct?@FortunesFaded

Yes. I edited my original post to reflect Cole's entrance. Cole is right outside your door, while Desmond and Scout are just downstairs, near where Hunter killed that first walker with a shotgun.
@Symphoni I don't mind at all! Currently there are five characters in that area, I think.

@Exit Looks good, except for one thing. Does Chase have a last name?
Desmond Williams

Desmond gave a sharp nod, but made sure to quickly pack up the food supplies on the table before leaving the house. It was a decent haul, between the two of them, but he just hoped that the new weight wouldn't slow them down as they went to investigate the source of the gunshot. In case of an amassing horde inside of an inclosed space, the last thing Desmond wanted was to be over-encumbered. Nevertheless, he swung his rucksack over his shoulders and, finding the extra weight tolerable, drew his silenced Beretta and proceeded cautiously out into the street. Thankfully, the shot didn't attract any walkers outside the apartment -- in fact, there were hardly any to be found around there -- and he hoped it was the same inside. Moving quietly to the front of the apartment complex, he opened the door and covered the entrance, allowing his companion to enter safely. Though again, he saw nothing. Then, looking closer, he spotted through an open door a splash of red decorating the interior of a room, along with a headless corpse slumped on the floor. The blood hadn't dried, so the kill was recent.
"Probably the first shot," he noted quietly to his partner, before moving closer. As the rest of the hallway came into view, he saw the product of the second shot -- a much cleaner kill than the first. Desmond thought that, perhaps, they were still around. Suddenly, he heard the revving of an motorcycle engine outside cut to a stop, and out of instinct he took cover inside the nearest open room as the outside door opened and a man came running through, followed by a cluster of zombies. In the rush, Desmond was pretty sure that they had not been seen. Making eye contact with his partner, he silently asked if they should intervene, readying his pistol. He was going to help regardless, but he wanted to know if she had his back before he rushed out there and got himself killed. Trust is a hard thing to build in a day, after all.

Douglas Knowles

To Doug's satisfaction, he heard a soldier come on through the line. The two must have been traveling together -- maybe with others. With that one transmission, Doug's view of their future was looking up. They still had to find Bill and the Rookie, though. But for now, there was nothing wrong with helping folks -- especially folks who may know about the whereabouts of their missing coworkers.
"Captain Krueger, I read you. We're on 8th Street, at the center of town. The road is pretty clear of walkers, and the route into town should be clear for you. Let me know if you have any hiccups, and we'll try our best to help you get here. Stay safe, over."
To all: If you haven't introduced your character, yes you can as soon as you'd like, and I would suggest starting as close to/in Wilmington to the sake of time. In fact, if you want, have them start out by meeting the NPC faction on 8th Street (since that's everyone's ultimate destination). Once everyone's situated and the character development that is currently going on has concluded, I may consider a time skip so that everyone is on 8th street and together.
