I do agree with Yandere's sentiment that words not wording workingly do be a problem this time of year.

Scratch that, place your bets on polymarket.

Looks like I'll be working on memorial day weekend. And no, this does not mean place any bets on polymarket.

due to a typo on my part I was nearly convinced I owed the IRS nearly $3000 in excess taxes this year.

-There will be delays in replies. Largely due to working overtime, voluntary obligations; other RPs and online-things may compete for my attention.

'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.

That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.

Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.

In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..

RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

So apparently the pilot was ripped out of the plane when it broke-apart [he did not find the exit, the exit found him] at 50,000 feet, going mach 1, and still survived despite not wearing a pressure suit.

All because he remembered how to unfasten a seat-buckle.
-and a bunch of other safety equipment, but this was the step that made it all work properly.

He also noted the saliva on his tongue was boiling before he passed out.

Kudus. At least he didn't end up like this guy.

and thus ends the on-site investigation, further determination shall occur in the laboratory-setting.

Still, pretty epic.

Ooh-rah.

Dorian didn't so much as get to say his response to Anderson's rebuttal, and Lasko's "see you on the ground" speech, as the comms only turned-on after all the pods had sealed, resulting in only a mildly audible grunt that barely ebbed over the background-noise of the pods sealing.

As per normal procedure since 2549, the Cruiser also jettisoned flotsam, equipment-pods, and other debris to assist in their HEV's penetrating the enemy planet's defenses, making it difficult for rapid reaction forces to target any single trooper and ensuring a fair amount of ordnance on the ground. Still, he could see a large fraction of pods go off course or break-up, while others had picked unpleasant landing-zones. Pella's pod, managed to get deflected by a tree, and sent skidding across the Martian landscape, plowing through several grunts and a jackal. Learning to use your pod like a manned-godrod was always a bit of a rush.

From then, he waited until the sole surviving grunt had crawled on top to inspect the wreckage, and only then did he eject the hatch. Along with the grunt. Any cripples still lingering in the pods wake were then stabbed with a combat-knife, because it made them twitch a bit longer.

"All clear at Pella's can."
Hmmm, right... Pella was pretty much raised by the rampant Juliana-AI. Think H3:ODST's superintendent with H4's rampant Cortana's expressiveness. Gud times. :3

Do you keep your roleplaying a secret from those you know in real life? Your friends, family? Are there some who do know, others who don't?

If you do, why?

(just curious!)

I generally keep my real life secret from people I RP with, and refrain from bothering people IRL about my RPs.

When I do introduce someone to it, I usually mention any particularity 'epic' moment in a 'game', and then let them wonder what game they need to go buy to do that with.
"Awesome" Pella remarked as he strapped his helmet on, giving a nod at Anders "back to the die-pods we go."

At least he was 100% sure nobody else had touched his rifle.

(bad post, but not much else to do for me besides strap myself in and give some random technician the finger, I'd say give it 3 days before assuming everyone is smart enough to find a chair and sit down in it for drop)
Well, considering that somewhere on your char's record she got demoted for physical violence against an officer... less than 3 days after becoming a sergeant (well, M.Sgt, and presumably she didn't jump 4 ranks overnight).
As fun as it is to know the lower ranks are getting along fine... isn't it time for the NCOs to start seeing how far they can lodge a boot up someone's ass?
Pella smiled, almost motioning to nod in agreement and approval before settling-in for landing, only to be jolted awake by a more-than-chipper AI. He scowled at the thought of having to deal with another rampant AI within his lifetime, at least this time he didn't have to trust this one with the air they breathed.

Looking back, he remembered the part about passers-by having sticky-finger-syndrome whenever they saw a new mod on a gun, and took his battle-rifle with him to briefing in addition to the standard-issue thigh-holstered burp-gun before also taking his helmet and a strip of tattered camo-netting. He tossed the latter at Alexander, "y'May want to use that to keep the sun off your visor. The glint tends to draw their fire."
I'm considering two combatants becoming stranded in a remote location (not necessarily an island, just someplace where getting recued is unlikely), although the level of sci-fi/fantasy is debatable (aliens/angels... experiment & retrieval-team? Likewise, Princess and enemy knight trying to ransom her for a bounty)
