I do agree with Yandere's sentiment that words not wording workingly do be a problem this time of year.

Scratch that, place your bets on polymarket.

Looks like I'll be working on memorial day weekend. And no, this does not mean place any bets on polymarket.

due to a typo on my part I was nearly convinced I owed the IRS nearly $3000 in excess taxes this year.

Bio

-There will be delays in replies. Largely due to working overtime, voluntary obligations; other RPs and online-things may compete for my attention.

'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.

That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.

Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.

In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..

RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

Weatherby that's it!

You do realize that rifle likely costs more than my first car, right?
-Just saying... totally not jealous over here...

Something around $3,500.
-Guaranteed to be a terrific-looking straight-shooter, though.
(It's like a Mustang, only guaranteed from the factory to win every race or your money back)

I nearly got sold an $300 SA20 from a product review. Instead bought a $400 Rem 870 Exp (3" 20 ga) and had to get parts (spare barrel & choke-tubes) from the factory (largely for parts-commonality with the other firearms in the family and because I was only sold a rifled-barrel).
That narrows it down to the Fulton armory's Mk 14 EBR, the Mk 12 SPR, and a bunch of bolt-action rifles.

Weatherby Mk V <- Ridiculously expensive
There also the Ruger M77 Mk II

Oh, and the Mk 47 "Mutant". A love-child between an AR-10 and an AK-47.
<Snipped quote by Foster>

Oops, a remake I suppose - I had a different rifle in mind but completely forgot the brand name, so I just whipped one off the top of my head. Thanks!

*goes on a limb and guesses either a Ruger 10/22, Marlin 795, or Ruger Mini-14/Mini-30
M14A1 or the civilian M1A remakes?
True M14s stopped production around 1968, after 1975 a surge of remakes came out due to popular civilian demand.

Vansen was part of a military-family. A riot broke out and a few thugs broke into their home and killed their parents while they hid in the attic when they were younger. Their oldest sister, Shane took responsibility for the three of them and volunteered in the Marines as a pilot, while Ann (middle child) married and had a daughter (Marion V. Bowman, named after their late mother).

Adria joined the navy as a technical-engineer, patching holes in fighters, overlooking starship-drives, or manning weapons-turrets.

When the news of Shane's disappearance during a routine shuttle-run reached her, it also came with the accusation that she had somehow made a bad-repair that had cost the lives of presumably all on-board.

Right so, I'm going to see about establishing some things here real quick and then see about editing the CSs to show more info on the chars

So,

Right off the bat we need to establish that the Imperium owns 75-80% of the Galaxy. There's no going past the borders of it - at least not yet. It's run by the Empress, Her Majesty Aling Emilu III. Next in line for the throne is Crown Prince Latel Emilu II. The Imperium grants nobility, but it is not easily gained. And while the significance of such is lessened outside the Imperial Borders - it still carries a great amount of weight.

Aliens should be sufficiently alien, with some homages to good ol' tropes - for instance the lizard people (Skaylids - Governed by the Broodmother), the slime people (kw'Vrh - led by the Elder Commune), and the beast (the furry kind, not the scaly kind) people (Theriae - The Hand of Hayte, led by Obit Hayte XXVI). Those are just three I wouldn't mind playing in the same universe as.

I'd also like Factions to play a part - Obviously there's the Imperium, the Skaylids' Brood, the kw'Vrhian Collective, and the Theriae Society. But on top of that, you've got some other major organizations - Coporations working either under or outside of the Imperial Jurisdiction (MentaCORP [Legitimate, has a business permit from the Imperium and regularly pays taxes] - Leading researchers in neurology, psychology, and other neurological whatsits), Large-Scale Organized Crime Groups (like the Crimson Barony, rumoured to be led by an actual Baron), Warlords looking to gain power in conquest (The People's Glorious Resistance Movement - a 'freedom' fighter ragtag militia), Imperial Departments - Such as Department 1C (1=Imperial Delegation, C=Public Relations) maybe wanting us to help push a point by leading a revolt, thereby allowing them to utilize martial law and get things under their command again.

the PGRM doesn't really have a big foothold in Nerus, seeing as how communism panned out better for them. But the PGRM is lead by an opportunistic interplanetary warlord who will exploit any opening if it allows him even an iota of power more than he had before. If Nerus just got put of a war or other stressful engagement, the PGRM would be on scene damn near immediately to 'offer aid' - read; spread propaganda. And as for the pilot he'd probably have to start out somewhere like 'bellhop' or whatever you call the people who handle baggage, and that'd be his 'in' to the piloting thing.

Theriae are beastpeople. Not just canine manifestations but also feline, porcine, bovine, equine, etc
-also skaylids are more like argonians, or conspiracy theorist reptilians. They dont really trust humans because humans aren't part of their brood - skaylids have a minor racial superiority complex, inside of the whole of the skaylid there are warbands who have tensions between them, but if an outside race ever fucked with their turf, they'd gang up and fuck 'em over

and humans view them with distrust because they're slimy and scaly and they're not human.

The Theriae are the most psychologically like humans, they're what humans would be if they wore the flesh of an animal.

There that should cover any questions posed by local bystanders.
@Foster What's it like, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, the concussion was just blackness (didn't even know I was hit). When I came-to pretty much while being hauled into the ER I didn't quite immediately realize just how much blood was pouring out my ear.

>Being deaf...
Everything is quieter. But not consistently. Some frequencies get through better than others. Particularly anything with a lot of bass. The brain can compensate for this and still direction-locate, but it generally requires you to turn your head and hope you hear the exact same sound a second time (and hope it isn't moving).

>Being blind...
Glaucoma. A pressure-spike tends to cause migraines, which include the feeling that you're one sudden-movement from vomiting violently for however long it takes to fix that [can take several days without meds]. Visually, there's a "blind-spot", not so much a tunnel as a persistent gray fog in what should very well be in your FoV. And it never really shrinks, it just gets bigger as the years pile-on.

If it's only one eye (in my case, my previously dominant one), blinking can reset your dominant eye to the one that sees better; since your brain interprets the fog as standing with your hand over that eye.

Thankfully, I've still got peripheral vision from that eye where it matters (out to the left) and it's as clear as it was from before I was diagnosed with it. But as noted, it's only really a matter of time and making too many mistakes for that to change for the worse.

Naturally, this has caused me to adopt the pararescuemen's motto in the event of an emergency.
Which when combined with all the other mottoes I've lived by turns into:

*Do your best to be prepared to be unprepared at the worst possible time, so that others may live.
-I'm not dead yet; try to keep up. What one man can do, another can do.

I'm just lucky, I guess.
