I do agree with Yandere's sentiment that words not wording workingly do be a problem this time of year.

Scratch that, place your bets on polymarket.

Looks like I'll be working on memorial day weekend. And no, this does not mean place any bets on polymarket.

due to a typo on my part I was nearly convinced I owed the IRS nearly $3000 in excess taxes this year.

-There will be delays in replies. Largely due to working overtime, voluntary obligations; other RPs and online-things may compete for my attention.

'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.

That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.

Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.

In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..

RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

As Sarah entered, and started getting plastered, Marlene was just about ready to make a move and introduce herself just as the eccentric little lady went into something of a happy-rage and left, followed by the others just as her own PADD informed her of the why; Priority one order, defend Cradle Dynamics from attack.

A distant explosion punctuated the fact that this was sort of a 'now' thing.

It didn't take Marlene any longer than the others to get to YASSIR, but as it was still nested inside of its pallet for transportation, she had to take some time chopping-off the supports and pre-starting the core. Starting a FRAME without a pilot inside isn't exactly a good idea in a confined space, lest one of the arms suddenly lash-out, but time was important and they didn't have enough people to run things by the numbers.

Speaking of which, she was neither assigned their radio frequency, nor had she taken the time to actually look at the FRAMEs her allies piloted before they left. Well, besides Mr Bubbles, and that was entirely because of how much trouble Sarah was having getting hers started.

Once everything was warmed-up, she strapped-in and made her way to the outskirts before activating active-camo, looking for anything trying to outflank anyone since an unidentified mech in the middle of combat is usually a dead one. She was quickly rewarded by the sight of an unmarked FRAME about to make a pot-shot around a corner. Against whoever they were aiming at, they had very little exposed, but from her angle it'd be an easy shot, made even easier by the make and model of the FRAME, still, there was a chance this was a friendly...

She slammed a mortar-shell into the side of the building it was using for a brace, blowing-out fragments, concrete and re-bar into their line of sight and hoping to spoil their aim and reveal their position.
Also, as Marlene's mech is specialized in sniping, nobody has really seen her mech before, and she hasn't seen the mechs of her allies...

Man it's sad that Ed Died.

D:

KILL THE FUCKERS!

Oh, you meant Edd's World.
-I seriously saw a rubix-cube grenade.

Series lived on, though.
So should I just post chasing after Sarah and demonstrating how one properly emergency-starts a FRAME from a crate?

Retro-tech lulz will ensue.
Tempted to dust off a dysfunctional deconstruction of a womanizing half-elf that may have a drinking-problem.
-Although, that one is better off with the more sultry and spirited sort.

I'd have to think about how to deal with him gaining a servant. Usually there's a Sheldon-Cooper style rule-thing that after receiving a gift from an elf, you have to give-back something of equal or greater value to an elf with no value for material things (with starting point being the value of the gift when viewed from the recipient and/or court).
So I assume Miss Marlene is a long time pilot?

Sarah is definitely going to get the high ground on her. Sneak attack bitches!

No, Marlene is a newbie with barely two years experience running her FRAME in the Kamdeshi Army.
So Ed and El are going to run into Marley while she's incognito?

Sarah may or may-not want to enjoy some refreshments, too.
Chartose was somewhat surprised that Kladissa had figured-out that most of the party either mistrusted her, or simply didn't care; not so surprised to see her fawning over his scream-raptor.

"Her name's Tricia, had her for about four or five years; ever since she was able to walk." He said with a twinkle of pride as he gleaned from the rest of the conversation the stakes of the mission.

"So you weren't out there on your own. I reckon there's more to your story than what you said at the bar." He mused, trying to get a little more information. She could still be making things up, but the more he watched, the less he suspected this person of any treachery.

Later that morning...
((Huzzah for posting on both sides of a timeskip))

Chartose was considerably more punctual than his bragging at the bar had promised earlier, despite even taking some extra time to make sure to lay-out extra provisions behind for Becker, a large wolf-husky mutt. He himself had packed incredibly light, figuring if he really needed more than his mount, armor, and weapons he could just summon it with Becker; although he'd make doubly-sure it was safe before doing so, as there was no point risking his friend on such a quest.

Everyone else seemed to be much more punctual than himself however, and had started either lazily watching the grazing cattle from the fenceline, or occasionally feeding a few of them some roughage (or chewing some for themselves).

Not soon after arriving, Kladissa gave a rousing speech that offered just enough time for everyone to mount-up before her lizard bolted down the path, followed by Tricia and Chartose, the woman on horseback, and the Aeneshi riding a beast that probably was suffering from fleas if Kladissa' estimate of him was correct; he'd have to find the time to collect on his bet later.

Several stretches later: Chartose noticed the bird-calls growing in intensity, not receding as the story had originally told. There were a few things Chartose was certain had an innate ability to drive-off wildlife, and one of them was a large settlement of people. And they were in screamer territory.

Being ahead of the other two, he raised his right arm from the reins in a fist, and signaled for them to fan-out to cover of a thicket to the right* as he then raced ahead to stop Kladissa from running headlong into an ambush, but she was moving too fast for him to gain on her, despite being only a few paces away, and with each pace they would fall further and further from the group.

"Kladissa, get off the road!"

*on the outside-bend in the trail, also likely a form of high-ground since the path is sloping downward into what looks like a textbook L-shaped ambush
