'Bout me:
Started RPing (badly) back in '05, mostly doing nation-RPs with an emphasis on technology and strategy, later edging out to character-espionage and military-tactics before doing "less serious" character roleplays that were outside of the 2005-2008 continuity.
That's when I went to Dead-Frontier, and found the RP community there, joined a clan, did some pretty good roleplays and pretty much loosened-up my online-personality. When the clan-leader decided to move her RPs here, most of the clan followed.
Took a course in technical-writing back in '08, so now I may sometimes use the semicolon correctly.
In 2010 I dusted off the old nation-RP continuity I had, doing a few hetelia-esque RP-shenanigans there..
RP-Habbits: I tend to geek-out on little technical-details, and sometimes infer how those details would impact the background of the roleplay. Great for world-building, not so great when you had a perfectly good plotline and I just MacGyver it off the rails (though I usually er to the side of amusement, sometimes it creates very grim side-stories).

Well, I'm already in an RP with you, and most of these plots I've already done, or am in the process of doing...
Although I've avoided pirates unless you include space-pirates.
Only plot I can think of that doesn't immediatly take a detour for the worst, that I'm not already doing, would be a closet-werewolf seeking help curing their lycanthropy, so s/he becomes a wizard and uses their friend as a familiar (because that totally makes more sense than summoning an angry demon and asking THAT for help). And ofc there are side-effects of being a familiar, like the fact you're being used as a mana-battery.
Could they fight crime? Maybe. But then they could also get captured by irish time-traveling pirates.

Nah, what's more fun is SP, plus you fell asleep on your arm so it went numb.. so it feels like someone else's arm is wrapped around you *tightly* and you've only got one good arm free...
First instinct is usually to fling said arm against the wall... hard... nearly threw my own hand through a window... Javalin style.
The force was enough to temporarily dislocate a shoulder and pull me out of bed.
