Current 10+ years of an RP idea, finally finished, on 10.10.2025. Goodnight Raven Squad, you were the best, wildest, most silly near future SOF RP that lived on the guild, and you got a worthy send off :)

Bio

I've RP'd for the best part of over 15 years now here on the Guild, and particularly like military settings, both contemporary, past and near future. I have even dabbled in a little more experimental RPs, as well as created a plethora of 1x1s over my time in the guild. I like creating RPs with a distinct flavour- and often shift between narrative-led RPs to semi-randomised plots. I've been more a GM lately than a player, and don't really lean into fandom- instead, exploring my own universes lifting themes from other source material.

My main interests are military-themed, near-future RPs, with a focus on technology. But I'm beginning to push what that RP idea looks like- taking inspiration from lots of media and focussing on the fun, indulgent side of RP, whilst also exploring the lows and emotional side.

Raven Squad is a project over seven years in the making, and focusses on a class-based, eccentric yet half-grounded near future special forces team that acts as a response team where you can't send any special forces team in. It's incredibly dumb, incredibly loose, and yet, has delivered some of my favourite plot points in RPG. A brainless action flick a la John Wick and Kingsman meets a complex thriller with a fun left turn in it, Raven has been the culmination of over a decade of loving special forces RPG, gaming influences and other silliness in a package that has provided players with something quite different to a normal military themed RPG. While at an end, this is an RP that is a signature- it's silly as hell, takes itself barely seriously, and is what peak fun military RPG to me should be.

Delta Hyper is a love letter to Wipeout, F1's Drive to Survive (Netflix) and contemporary Formula One, with influences from solarpunk, cyberpunk, transhumanism and other posthumanist concepts. An RP that follows pilots in their ups and downs, it's a story that hasn't got me playing an actual character, but framing the camera at each pilot (played by others), and presenting it as if it were a documentary. Lifting elements from TTRPG, this is a Racing RPG like no other and no parallel exists- using dice rolls and randomisation, with a stats-driven system to generate race results, rather than actually RPing the races, players experience the fast-paced, dynamic world of anti-gravity racing. This means that come Qualifying and Race, the results are genuinely a surprise to everyone- and based on decisions made through dilemmas and decisions made between races. Friendships, rivalry, the glamour and even a little political undertone play out in 2094, in a colourful, utopian future that focuses on the fight to take first place.

Then there's Tactical Breach Wizards: Fireteam Hex. First use of any set IP as a formal setting, this is an RP that offers a darker mirror to Raven Squad, focussing on the other side of the equation- unlikely heroes in an uncomfortable position. I don't normally do fantasy, but the world, the lore, the feeling of the characters and the ability to write a comedy just was too difficult to pass up. An RP that focuses on a group running away from a variety of threats as wanted mercenary wizards in the middle of a post-revolution, Eastern-Europe adjacent 1990s to present Polavia.

Lastly, Dispatch: Heroes of Claremont. This is another IP-adjacent world, albeit drawing on a different setting and a new cast of superheroes. As my "first" proper superhero RP, this combines workplace comedy, a Storyteller-lite system and a fun, diverse, and large cast together in a dynamic, diverse setting.

I'm pretty flexible and try and get back to people on ideas and responses, but sometimes, I may become very busy and it will take some time till I am un-busy. I aim to clear posts within a week!

Cool, going to work away now.

Haha, Falconry Puns!

It will be fun, I can imagine Garland attaching a playful message to his Falcon's carrier going back- something in the lines of "How the hell did you get a Falcon to carry messages? When this dies down, could you visit?"

I feel that things are moving a bit quick- though if everyone is okay for me to post before we get a peep from the Iron Islands, then I can do so today. Willas is almost done- though I forget, can Kingsguard get married?
Merry Christmas everyone! I should yell, I know we have made not too much progress so far, but come the next year, I hope to remedy that- I will post on the 30th regardless of whatever has been posted to keep things going, then begin Part 1 a week or so later, giving everyone time to write something up. I'll carry on with who we have- this RP will be very unlikely to take new members in, but I do have plans for it's future continuation.
@Cold Hands

Damn, I hope for the best, RLCF (Real Life Comes First).

@agentmanatee

Exactly. Garland's plan is really formulated from beating Crakehall's men first and foremost, Highgarden itself is roughly a week away from King's Landing, but remember, Torrentpeak is even further, maybe two to three! It's the most distant vassal of The Reach, but it puts into perspective- if Garland wants to raise every single banner, it will take him a hell of a long time, it won't be an organized force until it's rallied up in somewhere such as Tumbleton, or in Highgarden. Hence, if the Tumbletons arrive first and basically are there within two days, Garland is likely going to tell Lord Tumbleton to just send a rabble so fast he needs men there, and set up inside King's Landing, they have the gates, they have control, but they are not a strong occupying force. But nobody has attacked King's Landing straight up and won, not without siege equipment and naval supremacy, which is what Garland is going to gamble that the recent decleration hasn't already covered, and that Crakehall will be forced to wait. Or, so at least he hopes.
Halp me and raid the Westerlands? :D Considering the South is going to shit, it could be worthwhile even raiding The Reach, considering how much of the focus has shifted to the area by the Westerlands-Tyrell-Crownlands border, and it would be difficult for Garland to have his fingers everywhere, to counter both a Westerlands threat AND the Ironborn. Though it would be tempting for the Tyrells to make a non-aggression pact with them, I can only imagine that letter being read aloud in the halls of Pyke to laughter.
@Major Ursa

Yeah....as a bit of an edit actually, I dig that they are both interested in Falconry, no doubt that Garland will have a respect for someone as masterful as it as Ellion, even if it isn't strictly diplomatic. And hey, my character isn't towering, so it's not as if my character would have any say... :P

I do love how there is such a rush to war in the South, yet things are as of yet inert in The Vale and Riverlands. It will be interesting to see what develops as time goes on- I will make Willas later today. I'll post too likely, though I am not sure if I should double up before the Iron Islands have even gotten a post in- I don't want to rush ahead.
That post was confusing at first.

Then, I saw what you did. And what you did, I can only say...well, soon, just soon. Awesome post. Willas is probably not with the rest of the Kingsguard for reasons of defection back to the Tyrell cause, which you did mention. Probably the scummiest move he could have made, to be honest, but it was done for reasons of some sort.
As far as I know, Garland was Hand of the King (GM agreed), I think Coin and Whispers was taken, though I am a little confused. Nothing militarily, so actually, that is still for grabs, as is anything such as Master of Ships or any ceremonial positions.
Also, double post but holy shit, if Garland was gay, he would be fucking Ellion. I don't know entirely why I am saying that, but from that appearance, and what they have in common, I can tell that Garland would...well, maybe quite literally looking up to him, he has this sort of thing that he has going in his character that I really like for some reason. I won't say anymore than that :P May I moot Alerie though?
I just did that. Don't try this at home (unless you realize you have shitloads of time to kill and an RP to start off- I promise, adamantly, it will get shorter).
